RE: Iceland
Just got back from Iceland, here´s some info I wanted to have read before going there:

- In Reykjavik EVERYTHING CLOSES at 01h00 am from sunday to thursday (bars and clubs included). Me and my buddies arrived to reykjavik on a monday at 23h00, it looked like a ghost town. Nobody, literally nobody in the streets.
Reykjavik is a small village, the town has around 200.000 inhabitants. It looks like a ski resort.

- We stayed in Laugavegur street in the 101 neighbourhood, it´s the main street where all the clubs, bars, restaurants and shops are.
We stayed here:
http://www.rentinreykjavik.com/luxurious-and-cozy.php
We payed 28euros pernight/person, and were 4 guys. Be sure to negotiate with the owner cause he wanted 35 euros/night.
Googlemaps don´t work in Iceland so the best site to use is:
http://en.ja.is/kort/#x=500000&y=500000&z=0

- The best nights in my opinion are thursday and saturdays, friday is not as good. In the other days of the week, the best is to rent a car (go to the tourist center) and enjoy the (non human) natural beauties of Iceland (Blue Lagoon, Golden circle, etc).

- Thursday the best club to be is Barrin, not Kaffee Barrin. Barrin is a club that has chicks between 18 and 24 (mostly college). The club should close at 01h00, but stays open till 02h00. If you´re lucky enough, you will be invited for afterparties in houses. There´s a good one in Eregata street, a girl invited me to go there but instead I went home with two others (in the end it was the wrong option).
During the day the best place to hang out is Kaffee Paris, the waiters are amazing.

I kissed a hot girl by saying:
"I´ve never kissed an icelandic girl", she responded "We have to change that".

Be aware of the girls ages, a friend of mine (who is 28 years old) kissed a 16 year old girl, that looked like 26. Of course we made fun of him the rest of the trip.
More seriously, we talked with a portuguese guy that was working there, that said a friend of him, when visiting him, had legal problems because he had hooked up with a girl that was underage.

- Friday and saturday the best clubs are:
B5 (the best on saturdays), Vegamot, Oliver. There´s also Apotek. Apotek is the kind of club were the ugliest and dirtiest girls go. So if you haven´t been lucky and want to save the night go there.
There are no queues on fridays, but on saturdays you will have to wait minimum 40 minutes to get in any of this clubs after 01h00 am.

- Iceland is definitely not expensive, I think that besides Berlin and Eastern countries, it was the cheapest european capital I´ve been. The Icelandic Krone is in deep shit. It worth 0 outside Iceland. No bank will change Iceland Kones per euros. Having an icelandic Krone bill or a monopoly, is worth exactly the same outside Iceland. It devalued around 40% since the crisis. Icelanders are hungy for euros.
(The icelandic banking crisis is also due to corruption:
http://www.grapevine.is/Features/ReadArt...dic-Banks)

- "Zure Heart Sight", means "you´re beautiful", say it to an icelandic girl and you will surely get something.

- Iceland girls above 25 years old are generally shy. It´s easy to understand why. It´s a small village and they don´t wanna get the tramp stamp. Another friend of mine was kissing all over a girl in the bathroom. After he went with her to the dance floor and she changed completely her atitude to cold bitch.
Also don´t be surprised if you pass by a girl you´ve banged the night before and she will not even look to you.

(- Be sure not to miss eating in the restaurant "Seabaron" the lobster soup and the whale kebab. Don´t try the rotten shark!!!).
Tarantino is a god in Iceland, everybody loves him. they have pictures of him in almost every store.

In conclusion I have to say I expected more out from Reykjavik. If you´ve never been in eastern europe (specially Ostrava or Daugavpills), Iceland girls and nightlife are great. But after bathing in the eastern europe wonders everything else looks worth.

If I would go back I would have booked my ticket only from wednesday till sunday.

RE: Iceland
I'd like to hear more about Eastern Europe: it's really better than Iceland? How so? Which countries? Which cities? Can you give some tips or write up a post for those countries like you did here for Iceland? Thanks.

RE: Iceland
It [/quote]always depend on your taste, for me Eastern Europe is top...
The only valuable advice I can give on eastern europe is not to stay in capitals or tourist places if you wanna bang locals. After Eastern Europe borders opened, those places were floded with groups of 20 or more guys making their stag parties there. So the girls are pretty much sick of foreigners.
I remenbered when I was in riga, the english staggers would ask normal girls in the street, "how much?". I think no girl likes to be treated like a prostitute.
There´s a thread about Prague where you can find some posts about eastern europe.
In summer I will stay by the coast, but in October I will cross Poland.

Back to Iceland the name of the bar I went on thursday is Hverfsbarrinn. Here are some pictures from their website:

Dude, the legal age of consent in Iceland is 15 (source: http://www.avert.org/age-of-consent.htm --fyi, bookmark that site and check it before you travel anywhere, that's definitely need-to-know information before you go in-country), that girl would've had to have been 14 or younger, that doesn't sound like something that could've been an 'honest mistake'. I wouldn't worry about accidentally banging an underage girl in Iceland, I mean how could you possibly 'accidentally' break the age-of-consent law when the age of consent is 15, right?

RE: Iceland
I'm headed to Iceland on Friday... I'm doing a whole nature/etc 10 day tour w/ my sister and pops so unless the towns around the country have any nightlife I'm only going to have this Saturday afternoon/night to party, but will have to get up early to drive to our next city on our tour.

Guess I'm gonna go try to get into one of the clubs in/on? 101 in Reykjavik bc that's where our hotel is... I'm sure I'll be by myself since my sister doesn't really party. Is it easy to befriend chicks/dudes there? Any advice on the attire to wear? I'm a blonde haired blue eyed jew, go figure, so I'm assuming I need something for the chicks to know I'm american, besides just hearing my voice I suppose...

Will try to take as many pics as possible as well

RE: Iceland
From what I've been reading everything is still relatively expensive even with the collapse of their Krona. It's about 123 krona to $1 US right now. The shuttle I'm taking from the airport to the shuttle cost me $17 and a 2.5 hour tour bus in Reykjavik is about $40 which is ridiculous.

I'm only going to have a day or two in Reykjavik; the other days will be spent in who the hell knows where around the country. Should have some great sightseeing though.

RE: Iceland
Ok, so I got back last Wed... Can't really comment on any of the nightlife unfortunately, as I said I was w/ my pops/sister. My pops and I went to a few bars on the first night there, Sat night, and by midnight/1am the streets were humming in the 101. I was up for I dunno how many hours so we went back and just crashed hard. One bar, Grand Rokk, was pretty cool. They had some local band upstairs and definitely underage girls walking around buying beers. Some kid looked to be about 15 was asking the bartender about different kinds of scotch, and ended up getting some shit bourbon.

The next 9 or 10 nights were spent circling the island on the 1/Ring Road and let me tell you Iceland has some of the most amazing sights/natural scenery I've ever seen. I'm still editing my 100's of pics and will post them on flickr so if you're interested let me know and I'll pass you the link once I get them up. We stayed in some HURTING places, including farm houses haha.

The chicks are beautiful and my just type... med. height, blue eyes, long blonde hair (i fucking HATE short hair aka dc girls), and in shape. My pops even commented 'you'd do quite well here.'

They love hot dogs and pepsi max and the latter is advertised everywhere. The last day there in line getting a hot dog there were five hot 18yo girls with blonde/blue/ huddled around one of their cars shoving dogs in their mouths. I stood in awe.

Things, especially beers, are not cheap at all... $6/7/sometimes 8 easily and the Icelandic beer is pure shit, taste like natty light. We did however stumble across a microbrewery, Ölvisholt Brugghús, in the state run liquor stores that had quite good beer. Also these state run liquor stores have the real beer/liquor and aren't open like regular stores. Out around the boonies they were open sometimes 1 hour a day. I can't remember the name of these liquor stores but they were a godsend esp when we were out in the middle of nowhere. The regular supermarkets carry beer but they are all light/2.5% only.

For the most part everyone spoke English there and were really nice. I definitely wouldn't mind going up w/ some buddies for a 3-4 day weekend bender and actually party w/ the girls there and see what could happen.

I remenber those liquor stores. The best is to buy large suplies of alcohol in the duty free shop in the airport at 1/3 of the price.
Another thing about Iceland was the smell of the water when hot, like rotten eggs.
They have some amazing natural sightseing (besides girls).

Easy come, easy go!

Yep exactly

The hot water was bad in Reykjavik out of the faucet, yet it didn't taste so bad. Outside the city the water was really good nor did it smell bad. Did you happen to visit the mudpots in the northern part of the island? That smell was 100x worse than the running hot water. Boiling and steaming and shit... it was disgusting. I'm finally editing my pics now...

I did buy some Icelandic vodka and the Brennivín (black death) in the duty free shop. They didn't have any of the good beer in the duty free though.
