No,they didn't.Allow me to disagree, because we obviously haven't been to the same places.I've met some of the craziest chicks in my life at raves.Regarding pulling them home, trust me on this one-you definitely don't have to go all the way to your place to bang them.
If you guys need any tips on the different scenes,I'd be glad to provide. But it seems more like dudes telling how it's not like back in the day, rather than people looking to party hard.

So are raves today illegal parties?

Or are they corporate run?

When was the first rave you attended?

Both. And I've been to raves in clubs and ones for which you don't normally hear about until they're over. However,I don't see any correlation between the legal status of the party and the type of stuff that go on there. At some-ANYTHING goes!Whatever type of debauchery you can imagine,I've probably either done it or seen it

2008.I ignored the last question the previous time,so you won't make the wrong conclusion. But I've been to over a hundred proper parties in my life,so I know what I'm talking about.I've met plenty of people in their 30s who have partied 'back in the day' and the only ones who say it's not the same like the good ol' times, are the ones who have been out of the game for quite a while.Keep in mind that the scene in a few spots in Europe is in a whole different ball park, compared to the US.

Ha.

I thought so.

So you are in no position to know.

Glad we made that clear.

RE: Rave game?
I think you're just past your prime for more party animalistic events, tastes alter with time, you feel at home one day and reminisce about the past on the following day.Nothing wrong with that.My point was that the underground electronic music parties are still on and not worse in any way. That's also not only a personal opinion, but one of people who didn't just pop at a party or two, instead were the key players in the hottest scenes, running the raves themselves.

Quote:So you are in no position to know.
List me the type of places you've been to in the last 5 years, from which you drew the conclusion that raves are (still) dead.

Give me examples of what went on in the 90s and I'll sincerely reply if I've seen it with my own eyes/done it.

RE: Rave game?
Bumping this thread because I'm heading to Electric Zoo in NYC over Labor Day weekend.

I'm heading up for all three days with one of my good friends. For those who don't know anything about the event, an entire island is rented out for a massive rave that goes from mid-day until about 11 at night Fri-Sat-Sun. There are tons of sponsored afterparties right across the water in Manhattan and god knows how many unsponsored ones. Hotels are booked everywhere (even in northern NJ) and its sure to be an awesome party atmoshphere for the whole weekend. We are staying with a random rich girl in Manhattan that my friend met a few years ago and stayed in touch with (he doesn't even remember what she looks like). I'm going because I honestly enjoy the concert but I'd be a liar if I wasn't going to be scheming on chicks around the clock too.

Mixx's 4-7am strategy won't work. I don't know Manhattan super well, so I can't say what the best spot is to go afterwards. This rave is in the middle of NYC, unlike many other ones held at stadiums or the middle of nowhere; girls are going to leave the venue and continue the party right away in the city. I think there's going to be great opportunities everywhere.

Anyone have any expereince with this event (or going this year?)

If you go and you are UNRELENTING, you can probably get lucky, but there are not meat markets the way raves used to be, unless you prefer sausage. You will see some of the CREEPIEST dudes on earth at raves these days, and most of the 'women' are going to be underage or with their man for protection.

True, there are a ton of sausages, which is why I target women still raving between 4am, and 7am - that is the fucking sweet-spot of pulling them away. They are hungry, tired, and a warm breakfast with a freshly smelling guy who does not smell like sweat from dancing all night and looks creepy on X overdose.

If you sarge raves between 2100hrs and 0400hrs, you are setting yourself up for frustration. That's the "leave me alone, I'm raving with my friends/boyfriend window".

Wait for the "take me home and feed/fuck me window" that shortly follows. A lot of guys have given-up by that time, and call it a night or take second best.

@SH0t and @MiXX, both very valid points. I agree. Raves are actually, maybe surprisingly to an outsider, not ideal for easy lays.

@MiXX, That's some good advice but logistically can be difficult to arrive/enter a rave at that late time. Depends on the rave, if it's an rave that's outdoors or a festival where you need tixs, it poses a challenge.

My Experience with RAVES:

Started going to raves in the late 90s in Vancouver and vicinity. (Say 1998 maybe). Back then these were small(er), illegal raves. You had to call a number the day off and you would be given an address. One time, we had to meet some guy in supermarket parking lot after hours, get into a Cargo Van and he would drive us into a warehouse area that was totally inconspicuous. The gates would open and... a there were like a few hundred people raving it up. Pretty sick.

Then in the early 2000s the raves became legal and corporate and were held in big convention centers or halls. Sometimes no alcohol allowed but of course lots of drugs, everyone was mostly on e.

I only went to a bunch of them over the years but what stand out for me is:

- Yes people do hook up although it seems like now it could be harder, as nowadays girls go in very large groups, whereas before it was normal to see a girl rolling (literally) solo.

- There is a sweet spot when people think about hooking up when on ecstasy, probably towards the end of the trip. Most people (girls and guys) just wanna dance and enjoy the sensations when they are peaking.

- The best is to isolate a girl and dance and hopefully transition to a quieter place (e.g. a chill-out house music couch area) after a while and escalate kino

- Raves where there is camping provide pretty sweet logistics

- People will not really leave a rave without their friends (who they are supposed to watch out for) so you are left with either bathrooms stalls for quickies (tough), or just a makeout session, number-close. This is where presenting them with an after-party (even for a group) can work in your favor.

- I haven't been to a lot of crazy ass massive raves in the last few years, but been to a few DJ concerts (Avicii or Tiesto) and those things are gong-shows, there are way to many people, girls get way too much attention and they just wants to party and enjoy the DJ and dance. Not ideal places to hook up but I might be wrong. This is just my perspective.

- Now, I sometime go to an after-party (2am-8am) legal club after clubbing just to check out the scene and I almost always leave disapointed and empty-handed. It's just such a sausage-fest and the few girls that are there (like 20-30%) are either either with their BF, too high to care, too much into music to care, or too weird. Rarely some good targets.

In conclusion:
-Smaller is better than massive
-Private is better than public
-Outdoors with camping is better than some convention center
-Have an after-party plan in place is better than not having one
-Bring rubbers because sometime you will run into a horny hottie that's wants it right there, right now (this never happened to me but I got close a few times - there is just way too much distraction for girls at these massive events.)

RE: Rave game?
I consider myself to be an expert on this topic. My username is even a reference to house music. Banana

Here's my Rave-Game datasheet:

1) Try MDMA. Not only does it put you in a perfect state of mind to game girls, the experience allows you to understand the psyche of fellow ravers. Until you've "rolled," you'll always feel like an outsider. Don't buy it from some random dude at the rave, use your social connections to find some beforehand.

2) If anybody asks, tell them that you are rolling. People will trust you and accept you into their group if they think you are at least as high as they are. Its not hard to fake: Wear sunglasses and put on a permanent smile. Chew on some gum. Bring a pack or two of Menthol's and hand that shit out like its Halloween. Its super easy to fake if you've actually rolled before.

On that note: DON'T DRINK ALCOHOL

Seriously, never get drunk for a rave. Rolling makes you super sensitive to other people's body language. I hate being around drunk people when I'm rolling, they're too physically imposing and aggressive.

3) DANCE! No one gives a fuck what you look like. Electronic music is repetitive and doesn't require much rhythm or coordination to have fun with. If you're having a kickass time, people will notice and gravitate towards you, especially the ladies. Its dark, everybodies fucked up and dressed funny, so don't be self-conscious.

4) Dress for fun. If its a nighttime warehouse party, wear a nice fitting pair of jeans and sneakers. If its outdoors during the day you can rock a pair of shorts. I personally like wearing boardshorts, but Madras shorts are also a great option.

On top, you want to wear something memorable. Wear something bright! Search the internet for fluorescent shirts. If I know its gonna be hot, I like to wear a dri-fit running singlet because I'm slightly built. High girls come and massage my muscles!

Game Strategy:

A) Only approach girls that you've made eye contact with. Even better if they see you walk right up to them. Casual opener: "Hey, what's your name?" "I'm Jen!" "Hey I'm John!" *gesturing to the stage with both arms* "Isn't this shit awwwesome?" etc. etc. High girls have almost NO bitch shields, ever.

B) Venue switch like a boss. If you meet on the dancefloor, take her outside for a cigarette. Take her back to the dancefloor. Suggest that you guys sit down in the back for a few minutes and get a lightshow. Go in for the kiss and start massaging the back of her neck. Lather, rinse, repeat.

C) Be silly. Simply not give a fuck about how you look to other people, especially sober people. Relish the fact that you are getting to do one of the most fun things in the world in spite of society's attempt to discourage it.

D) Get in with her friends. All of them. Don't AMOG the guys or you'll seem like a try-hard. You are just riding the wave and seeing where the night takes you. Do this well enough and you'll get invited to the afterparty.

E) Collect numbers. If you can get a girl to go to a rave with you, like a date, the bang is pretty much in the bag as long as you properly escalate. Dancing is foreplay, plain and simple.

Above all else, have an awesome time. IMO, raving is one of the greatest pleasures in life. If you are the life of the party, girls will begin to orbit you.

RE: Rave game?
FourToTheFoor, that was an excellent write-up on rave game. I personally drink when I hit these kind of events — but I have learned to keep it under control. Remember: if you get hammered, you can't nail.

Another good tip — know of (or plan to hose) a good after-party. That way you can change venues completely. Sometimes you will get girls who don't want to come with you at the time who will later show up at venue #2 once they've convinced their friends to go too.

Overall, fuck the corporate raves. They are for kids. Find a couple good underground parties in your town.

The G is right on this. The music was new back than and our ears were not used to those new sounds.
Combined with the drugs, the special outfit (there were no rules and people dressed really funny back then,.. some even went in diving-suits or had a coffee machine on the back etc) and the fuck society attitude this resulted in a very special community resp. family feeling.

Probably similar to what the hippies felt back then. It's a feeling you cannot really repeat, because it was only available in a small time window before the movement exploded and became mainstream.

While back in the days the hotties also went to raves since it was the place top be, IMHO nowadays there are no bangable girls at such venues.
