Minas Gerais, Brazil
Took a roadtrip from Rio to Minas Gerais last weekend (which was a 4 day weekend in Brazil).

Minas Gerais is a state just north of Rio de Janeiro state that is renowned for having very friendly women and a chill vibe.

Ouro Preto is a cute little colonial town that was riddled with tourists.
Had a couple of bars, and one huge nightclub near the main square. It was one of the most ghetto night clubs I've ever seen. Average age was like 20 and proper attire for guys was a white wife beater, faded jeans and a gold/silver chain. The girls were all pretty ghetto and were showing plenty of skin.
I'd say the colonial towns are great to visit but not so much for pussy. If I ever go again I'd make sure I know someone before hand to get into some house parties.
Ended up talking to 2 Paulista's around the corner at the bar but we couldn't pull them. They're a stingy bunch.

Belo Horizonte was dead empty when we arrived. It was like a ghost town. Went to the Savassi neighborhood where the bars are. They say it has the most bars per capita of any city in the world, and that can be true. People just chill outside, seated with their friends, so it's not the most approach friendly environment. After that, we bounced to a club called 'Swingers' (not a swingers club), which was awesome. Lots of gorgeous Brazilian women. You can makeout quickly with them, but one night stands are a different animal.

So overall a good trip, wished I'd skipped Ouro Preto and spent more time in Belo Horizonte though.

What would you say about the safety of these cities?

Much safer than Rio that's for sure.

Ouro Preto is perfectly safe like any small colonial city in Latin America.

BH's Savassi is very safe as well since you don't have a favela 2-3 blocks away from you. I've ever seen people bringing their laptops to the coffee shops and stuff, which is a great sign. Can't do that in Rio unless you're in a fortified shopping mall in Leblon or Barra.

Check out Juiz De Fora next time you are in Minas. So many hot girls and good clubs. I thought Minas was amazing.

I agree with Brandon that the cities, specially the smaller ones in interior as a general rule and specially in Minas are some of the best to score with hot sexy beautiful girls in all of Brasil. Juiz de Fora is a good one so is Governador Valhaderes, Divinopolis, but BH is crazy good too. Portuguese is required to get the creme de la creme. Spend some time at the local universities and you'll be floored with the level of talent there. Insane. And very approachable. However, in Minas, you'll find some of the most conservative women of all Brasil. I've met through my trips to Brasil a few very hot, sexy and intelligent Mineiras that would make excellent girlfriends and more. They are the keepers, the types you'd want to bring to mom. Generally, mineiras and gauchas, are the best when it comes to long term partners for those who are looking for that and are at that stage in their lives.

Safety wise, BH is one of the safest capitals in Brasil. People are educated and you'll see quite frequently people in the cafes and restaurants, take out their laptops to work. You'll never see that in Rio. All in all, BH is a great place for a long term stint. Great quiet and safe city and not as expensive as Rio, SP or Brasilia but with intelligent and educated people and very hot and approachable girls. On my next trip, I'll spend a few months just in BH and taking shorter trips in the smaller towns in Minas. Btw, has anyone been to BH recently?
