Recommendation of supplements for cartilage repair?
I visited some sites but I have no idea what kind of supplements I need to get.

Any recommendation from the guys on here?

I need to repair the cartilage in my knees and my doctor recommended I take some supplements to help me. I'm also going to go to physical therapy.

Any good brands? Links are a plus.

Try glucosamine and chondroitin. MSM too. All can be found here: http://www.vitaminshoppe.com/search/cont...e=category

I'll typically go with the vitamin shoppe brand for these types of supplements.

Your doctor didn't have any recommendations?

Supplements like MSM, Chondroitin and Glucosamine don't repair cartilage. Nothing can do that. What they do is lubricate the joints. I had success with it when my knees started to get achy from playing basketball. They are the only things I can think of that might help.

Start using Vibram 5 finger shoes if your knees have been damaged. That should be your 1st step. 2nd step is strengthening and stretching the hamstrings.

3rd step is worrying about supplements

I'd imagine anything that helps joints, I believe all those joint supplements (MSM is one I believe) help improve cartilage

Thumbs up to the ones mentioned already.

You might also want to have a look at cod liver oil. There was a study done that it can delay or even reverse damage to joint cartilage.

Damaged cartilage cannot be repaired. All the supplements mentioned are completely ineffective, they just cost you money.

RE: Recommendation of supplements for cartilage repair?
first off do you actually know it's cartilage damage? Or do you have pains in your knees that your doc has interpreted as that?

Pain in knees can very much be referred pain from trigger points in muscles. And it can 100% feel like pain in the joint when it's actually all from trigger points.

If you have some sort of scan that's showing cartilage damage, fair enough. But if not I would look at muscular causes.
