He is still looking for validation in women.

I never got into Tucker Max, I some how was exposed to everything else in the 'sphere without his influence at all.

Just the general opinion I always had, as an outsider to his work, was that he was playing a part. He came off as the "frat bro" you see in every college movie ever and as a natural nerd that put me off. He seemed a bit artificial as well, granted he was trying to sell books so I'm not gonna hate him to much for that.

I think he's playing it strategically; he realized that he's getting up there in years and his ability to continue to milk his drunken college adventures are going to dry up as he continues to age. To continue to be successful he needs to transition from frat-idol to something else. This is undoubtedly step one of the process.

I was never a big devotee of his - not that I disliked his stuff, but I didn't see much reason to stick around. But I came across his recommended reading list six or seven years ago and read several of the books, and can heartily endorse them as well. Whatever his public image is, he is tasteful and intelligent in his choice of books.

Tucker max was never a real player. I remember reading his blog before blog was a word, some 10 years ago.. Tucker Max originally decided to drop out of law school, get drunk and record the audio of what happened when he blacked out, and then transcribe it on his site - that's hwo he started. When game got big, he saw an opening in a market as a way to make more money and began marketing himself as a pick up artist. But really, he's just an asshole. i think there are very few people like myself who remember the original tucker max stories, before he got super huge, before he claimed to be a PUA.

I understand what you're saying. My point was just that he isn't some great pick up master. I remember him before he marketed himself like that. He would just get drunk and write down what happened, and it was funny. When he readership started to fade, the PUA scene was getting ready to get big. He saw that, and jumped on it. "Oh hey, I get laid with an amount of consistency, I'M A PUA GUYS" - kind of what he did.

I didn't get the impression that he was looking for a woman as a source of validation. Just seems to me that he wants something stable in his life with a woman he can be genuine with. He had a whole decade or alcohol-fueled sexual debauchery. He wasn't about to do that for the rest of his life. What's wrong with that?

I applaud the guy. Most guys would want to do what he did. Fuck like crazy in their 20s, and in your 30s find a woman you could see mothering your kids. It's good that he also has been sorting out his deep psychological problems. He tried to medicate his pain with alcohol and pussy and found out that that never plugged the hole. Yeah, I noticed that that was out of place too. The article goes on and on about how Tucker kept fucking and getting into relationships with fellow lost souls who didn't have a healthy relationship with their parents growing up, then once he goes to therapy and becomes a "changed man" what does he do? Oh yeah, start boning a girl who didn't have a healthy relationship with her parents growing up. Can't hate.

He was responsible for a lot of guys taking the Red Pill (we really need a new analogy) and introducing them to game and making the ways of women known to the mainstream. For that he deserves some props.

Sure that wasn't his own money, but it ensures that Hollywood will never touch this guy with a ten foot pole in the future.

What will he make on this book? Let's be generous and say 500k (an astronomical sum).

Maybe some "speaking fees".

I was figuring that between the books and the movie rights and appearances and maybe even some Netflix/Hulu style rights to his movie, he was in around 1.25-1.5, not crazy cash, but more than enough for a guy in his late 30's to live his life on, especially since if he drinks like he says he does won't make it past 65.

That's why I qualified with 'IF he's careful with his money', because I'm not totally sure, but I imagine he's semi-liquid (and I'm sure he gets drinks bought and comped all the time and a some decent swag because of his former 'celebrity' status).
