This is like fucking Christmas Eve (Before you grow old and realise it's all a materialistic sham)

I'll probably be rocking my tacky flowered shirt for one of the days. May even buy a Thailand headband for the fuck of it.
Girl i'm seeing pulls up her Facebook asks me if I think her friends boyfriend is ugly. I indulge her look at the guy he's not as he has normal facial symmetry. I say why is he ugly? She replies look how dark.skinned he is! I .tell her she sounds racist (she's light skinned Thai the guy in question was dark skinned Thai). Then I ask her what if I had dark skin (i'm white) she says well I wouldn't be attracted to you. I've never had a girl be so candidly racist in front of me before but it left me.sad about the under current of racism prevalent in Thailand.

Between 10am – 6pm Sunday & Monday, request the “Songkran UBERSPLASH!” option via your app.
If the water trucks are available, you & your friends can climb aboard and party with us for 20 minutes. Enjoy our giant super soakers and refill your guns, then grab some Songkran-savvy Uber swag to take back with you.
THE DETAILS

It’s free to request an #UBERSPLASH! However, demand will be high and supply will be limited. If a splash truck is unavailable, try again a bit later!

We’re going to be at Silom, Khao Sarn & RCA on Sunday, April 13 & Monday, April 14 from 10 am – 6pm.

Seems kind of cool since it is free.
Going to try it once if it's available.
Regarding Uber I tried it, works fine. Pros: English speaking driver, nice car, first time free, paying with credit card, fast meter price. Cons: need to wait for the car, bit more expencive than a taxi.
I would use it if I want to impress a someone saying I got my personal driver.

Damn, Leighton. You are a fucking rebel, my friend. Wink
Did anyone check out the clubs in Silom yet or is it unexplored territory off the beaten track?

You do realize it is the gay district right?

But I get your idea actually. When I am in the area on embassy business I notice that there are a ton of attractive office girls milling about, many more than you will find elsewhere in Bangkok and Silom being what it is, they probably don't get hit on that much.
day 2 of songkran is about to start. but before it does lets recap on day 1

met up with leightonblackstock, stoachi(sp) and banned member fox mccloud(trouble maker that he is almost started a fight with the drug dealing africans around nana the other day for the serious crime of spraying him with water)

I have to relay this to readers I AM AN ASSHOLE. I relish in this fact. Songkran is like giving crack to a junkie for me its like hey bacon go be an asshole today you are given a pass. So I do.

I am realizing I am an old fuck now in my late 20s. But man do I behave like a kid. I safely can say I had more fun than almost any kid I saw. If i suspected they were having more fun than me I went out of my way to hit them in the eyes with my water gun.

I purchased the largest water gun at the Tesco. At 1 pm I was in front of the tesco shotting the gun at young thai girls and old fat white women. This would be my strategy for the day. Also i would spray little kids in the eyes.

Memorial moments:

2 fat old white women got off the on nut bts I sprayed them aiming for the face for about 5 minutes. They were furious.

This group was stuck in a tuk tuk so me and leightonblackstock start spraying them with water in the face. I am going crazy:maniacally laughing while hitting them in the face for what seemed like 10 minutes. People started staring wondering if I was insane.

Some idiot white woman brought her baby in the stroller on silon (ground zero for the waterfight) I layed into her and her baby she was furious.

Cute thai girls minding their own business away from the water fight and for about 10 minutes I just strayed them. being a complete dick once they stopped shielding their eyes I gave them some more water.

Started dancing in front of a lot of people. Shy thais rewarded me with a jar of toothpaste. I then went around slapping toothpaste on peoples faces. Some were not happy with this.

Me and leightonblackstock sat down for a bit in one of the sois. Fucking english asshole throws a beer against the wall and a piece of glass (not big) hits my face. He comments: "songkran could never happen in england. It would be like this asshole times a million plus people would be spraying piss instead of water." I agree.

Speaking of piss I couldnt make it home without stopping on the bts for one so I get off on Ekami with leightonblackstock proceed to dance on stage but this time the thais didnt want to see it. The idiot farlang stick only works under the right conditions.

Also fox mcloud: I have your Iphone its dry I am keeping it at my place. Contact Staochi(sp) if you want it back. I am keeping it ransom until I get naked pics of the thai sluts in your rotation. Banana
Just a little warning about thinking Songkran means you can be a dick with no consequences.

I was living on Ekamai several years ago during Songkran. I had to catch a taxi to the airport to take care of some business in Singapore.

I had gone down stairs earlier in board shorts and t-shirt and let everyone who was on my block get me wet and have a good time. Then I explained that I had to catch an airplane and I would be very grateful if everyone would not get me wet when I came back out to grab a taxi. Everyone was very nice and said no problem since I had already come out and had some fun with them.

I had called a taxi to come pick me up so it would be waiting outside my door. It is about 10 steps from my door to the street were the taxi was waiting. All the Thais saw me and waved me out to go ahead. None of them were even acting like they would try to get me wet.

Right then I see a white guy in his early 20's about 5'9" 150 pounds come running across the street with his water gun. Several of the Thais saw him coming and tried to get him to stop and not spray me but he kept running at me.

I said very loudly "Hey man I have to catch a plane I would appreciate it if you left me alone"

He replied in a british accent "It's Songrkran. Nothing you can do about it"

He then shot me with his water gun on my leg and shoes. Kind of looking at me to see how I would respond.

I looked at him and responded "What the fuck. How about you be a decent human being and don't get me wet."

He got a big grin on his face and just shouted "Songkran!" as he started shooting me with his water gun. I could just feel the rage inside of me explode. I dropped my bag and just ran straight for him.

He was stunned at my reaction coming towards him and just froze for a second. I got the best punch of my life in on this guy. The only time I have ever actually knocked some one stone cold out and watched him drop to the concrete sidewalk.

By this time his friends from across the street were running over. I quickly grabbed my back and jumped in the taxi with my heart beating a hundred miles in hour.

-------

Don't think you can just shout Songkran with no consequences. Some guys in certain situations will not take your shit. Just be ready.
@direct danger

I am an asshole but spraying people with business clothes getting into a taxi is beyond what I would do. Especially if they say im getting on a plane. But if your just walking around today yea prepare for getting a little wet.
@dd,

hmm yeah what the guy did was kind of lame and stupid, but "this is Thailand", I have seen people in business suits who are clearly working get soaked. Just part of the Thai Culture. I would never do that myself, but its kind of what you should expect during songkran before you plan on coming during that time period , no holds bar soak fest.
No I agree with DirectDanger, if I'm walking in clear biz attire and with my laptop, I am not going to be pleased because some douchebag thinks there are no consequences. It's always foreigners who seem to lack the proper understanding of how, when and how much.
^he didn't mention anything about a laptop, but throwing water over someone with any expensive electronic device in sight would change the situation. But anyway, its just opinions.
Went over to Slim at around 5 on Tuesday, blacked out around 9 or 10, woke up in Nonthaburi Wednesday morning hungover as fuck.

Pretty boring Songkran for me this year other than that.

Anybody got any Songkran stories?
I was in Chiang Mai for Songkran. Day one- ran around with some friends getting soaked around the moat. Hit up Zoe late night, met a cute thai girl with a british accent that had lived in England for a few years. Swooped and smashed the next day also.

Third day started messaging a random off thaifriendly. Met up with her mid day and went out and had some beers and played. Took her back to my place for the late afternoon crush.

Didn't see anything too wild. I had been trying to meet up with some more quality girls I had been texting with and hanging out the previous week I was in Chiang mai but it was difficult to get around due to traffic and they were more interested in seeing and playing with their old friends. Overall Songkran is a blast and girls are getting loose but they also are pretty busy seeing friends and family.
think I am going to be back in Thailand in 4-5 weeks.

Long time or short time?
I went to Mixx last night after 3 a.m.. I approached 6 girls. I like black girls so I approached them first. The first one was from Ghana, she asked for money. The second one was from Rwanda, she asked for money. The third one was from South Africa, she asked for money. So I nexted to the other ones. The fourth girl was from Colombia, she asked for money. The fifth girl was from Laos, she asked for money. My sixth and last approach was on a Thai girl and she asked for money too. I called it a night. Maybe I went there late but Mixx seemed to be 100% full of pros. I won't go there anymore.

Word.

I was in Phuket for Songkran, brought a Filipina gf there. We were staying at Bangtao (which I recommend for a quiet place and nice beach) but went down to Patong for the big day. We're walking down Thawewong street and there's a family of Scandinavians or some kind of Euros with buckets and waterguns on the sidewalk. Teenage boy, about 15, hits a Thai woman - with glasses - on a scooter full face with a bucket of water. She wobbles on the bike and stops to wipe off her glasses.

I had read something about fatalities and injuries on bikes because of this last year.

I'm walking towards them, and the kid hits another scooter full-face. The women he hit was still on the side of the road. I point at him and say, are you a fucking moron? and point to the woman he first hit. People get hurt - don't fucking hit scooter drivers on the face.

The adults - dull-looking low class types are staring at me but say nothing. They really were morons.
People blame foreigners for fucking up songkran, and many of them do, but Thai people are just as fucking stupid. Especially the working girls who have no self control or manners. Had one come up from behind me and smack me in the face with both hands, pretty fuckin hard, smearing baby powder in my eyes. I wanted to beat her like a fucking man. If we were in the US, I would have cracked her nose open.

There's a lot of aggression that comes out. The Buddha would not approve, just as Christ would not approve of some of Carneval.

Last year, I was walking by the Iraqi restaurant here http://goo.gl/maps/oH7ta There's a bunch of big young looked like Iraqi guys carrying their squirt guns at the "low ready" with some Thai women with buckets in front of it. The Thai women douse me with that ice water we love soo much. Right behind me there's an Arab guy and his wife. I hear shouting and turn around- I guess the Arab guy objected, maybe pushed someone, so a fat Thai girl is beating him up and puts him on the ground, assisted by the Iraqi guys, who give him a few kicks. After a couple seconds of this, the Arab guy gets up and runs to catch up with his wife, cursing. It was pretty funny seeing how that fat Thai girl went at him.

Thais do the same stupid shit.
I got knocked off my motobike on Songkran by some thai cunt and after she saw that I was lying bleeding in the dirt she didnt even come to help me.

2 weeks driving drunk and high and then I had my accident while I was stone cold sober and just wanted to drive 50m to the 7/11.

Fuck songkran. Ill lock myself in my hotel room if Im ever in Thailand at that time again.
I am headed to Chiang Mai next week for 5 days. I found a good seat sale with Air Asia so I am flying return for under 2k baht, not bad. I was there 2 years ago and stayed around the Night Bazaar/ Old Town area as I had a late flight and picked the first thing which happened to be in that tourist area. There are some good threads on CM on this forum but just wondering if there's anything new to check out up there. Any ideas guys?
I think the best spot is near the unis, I could be wrong? I stayed in the old square last time, it was okay but too many tourists.
