I bought an oven in Thailand, 2500 baht at the department store. I braised ribs, put chickens on the rotissere, bake pasta, etc.

I enjoy cooking from scratch but the best value for high protein diet is Thai BBQ, Korean BBQ or Shabu Shabu.

Try to avoid the sauces, high is salt and/or sugar.

And use the oven on the balcony because of the heat and smoke.

p.s. don't burn yourself. Hhhh

Other than if you're some kind of hygiene monster or micromanager of caloric intake I just can't find a benefit in doing it, especially as someone who is a mediocre cook!

Most of the street food /food court/ cheap restaurants in BKK deliver cheap and filling meals for not much money, but it is horrifically unhealthy.

Best to try and cook as much as you can at home.

I could live off a $1000 a month in BKK. Most Thais live on much less, you may not be able to be a baller on a budget like that but it can easily be done.

Can recommend buying an oven if you're here a while, makes cooking much easier.

2500 seems a bit high to be honest though...I bought one for 900 from Tesco last year and you can get them a bit cheaper than that on Lazada

Just bought a rice cooker but not tried it yet. Saw some vids on youtube, you can cook rice, veg and chicken etc all in one pot so less hassle for cleaning

hope the balcony was sheltered from the torrential rains of thailand.
also i bet the general air humidity ended shredding that oven to pieces...
Two words: rice cooker.

The vlogger in the Philipphines called Overstay (Marcos) cooks that way all the time. It's also how I cooked in Korea when I lived there.

And don't assume rice cooker just means rice. It's technically just an element under a bowl. So long as you have either noodle / rice / quinoa (the latter is the healthiest base) then you can shove in meat, vegetables and even frozen fruit in it.
Anyone in BKK in February?

I'm gonna be there most of the month. 30 from Ireland.
I smashed a young Chinese tourist in her hotel room a few nights ago. Seems there are enough tourists to go around here still.

Good to know I can rely on them as the caliber of Thai girls online has mostly gone to shit in nearly every outlet.

Online or IRL pickup?

Was she traveling alone?
It would be quite astounding (and lucky) if so.
I will go to Bangkok on 14-21 april 2019, who wants meet up at songkran festival? BananaBanana
Can anyone comment on this itinerary? I'm doing a month in Thailand:

3-4 days in Bangkok
3 weeks in Phuket
4-5 days in Phi Phi

My preferences are Northern European girls and EE girls (i'm fluent in Russian), although I'm not totally opposed to dating Thai girls. I need fast internet for work. I'm an old Russia hand at this point, and it seems like phuket is where i see the most girls go based on instagram... Anyway, if any of the Thailand hands could comment on this itinerary given my preferences (I'm totally willing to return the favor if you ever go to EE). Best neighborhood in Bangkok? Places to stay in Phuket/Phi Phi? Not a p4p fan, and i'd be happy if i don't even see a ladyboy while in thailand. I did thailand once 15 years ago and saw the sights. I'll be doing work and hunting for white girls...
If you're looking to meet Northern European girls that travel around I would advice you to go the "tourist hotspots", the island: Koh Tao, Koh Samui, and places like Chiang Mai. Phiphi is fun too but accomondation is a little more pricey and just beach parties going on. I think 4-5 days is a good period on Phiphi. In Phuket you will find most Russians, but I found many to travel as couples (male+female).

Wether your itinerary works also depends which month you're going? The rainy season in Phuket (Andaman Sea) differs from the other islands (Gulf of Thailand).

Thanks for this. I'll be there from mid-december to mid-january.

Basing myself where most of the Russians are is definitely a goalWink In Nha Trang, I would also say it was mostly couples and families among the Russians. But, there were also single chicks there, and among those, it was like shooting fish in a barrel.

Yeah I've been in Nha Trang (Vietnam) last year. Felt a little like a Russian city. Friendly people, but a little hard to mingle as westerner as sometimes there's a huge language barrier.
Phuket is definitely a good place to go if seeing Russians is the goal. I do think it's also dry season in phuket in dec/january.
Don't bother going to the Islands I just mentioned, its rainy season there if I remember correctly. (And by rainy season I don't mean "rain for an hour and sun the rest of the day" > i mean rain and clouds most of the time.

Enjoy ur trip

I was also mid December in Koh Samui and Phuket. Weather in Koh Samui was not good. A lot of rain. But in Phuket it was prefect!
I also like the EE ladies. But when i was there i see mostly couples - same in Pattaya.
Ko phi phi is very boring but the entire island is filled with Swedish, Norweigan, and Dutch girls

Yep. The Russian girls in Nha Trang mostly come from random places in Siberia, although you'll meet girls from Moscow/Piter. Girls from the provinces tend not to speak much English. There is one Russian club in the town -- Zima. There weren't tons of targets there for me, but the girls that were there were immediately receptive. I went out three nights, and hooked and screwed the first girl I opened twice. Passionate makeouts after 15 minutes. Small sample size though, and all in Russian. I expect about the same in Phuket.

Sign me up for that... It's on the west side so it's weather is fine in december? Maybe I'll do NYE there... Can I get fast internet?
Anyone got a decent recommendation on a dependable monthly condo/apartment/apart hotel style place, particularly near On Nut metro?

I've looked on airbnb, but it's pretty expensive. All I need is a place with a couch, balcony, bed, and even just a tiny stove so I can cook a few things.

You only want month to month serviced apartment? Or willing to sign a contract? What's your stay length and budget?
Just a month.

I'd prefer to pay less than 23k. obviously on a year lease bangkok can be damn near free.

15k is pretty common for a month at a decent hotel, but I haven't found anything with a kitchen yet, though some of these hotels feel apartment-like and are large.
I got one kind of service apartment for 17K.

Studio with kitchen around Ekamai

When you want to go there?

<23K shouldn't be an issue. If you are local right now, I'd suggest checking out locations around On Nut and telling them you want month to month. You'll pay more but its negotiable even with full on apartments(think Rhythm Sukhumvit).

Check your PM.

Do you rely 100% on online dating for picking up? In such a high populated vibrant city, that's a shame.
