I've never been carded at Route, Funky/Demo, Levels, etc. Not once, and I only just turned 30.

I'd take it to be safe, but I almost never take my ID out. I had one friend get carded at Route last time, but he's short and looks really young. Other than that, no problems.

I didn't do any immunisations actually. Statistically the likelihood of gastro is much higher than any tropical diseases. If you do want to get your immunisations, wait until you get to Thailand as you'll be 90% less. From memory they are $300+ in Australia.

I thought you guys had free healthcare? Damn that's a lot.

Thailand is prob cheaper but some of these injections take 2-3 weeks to come into affect.

I never heard of anyone getting any of the things mentioned, but when people do they usually keep it to themselves.

Travel vaccinations fall outside of the realm of our healthcare, but if I come back with dengue fever they'll need to treat me anyway.

Not that it's an actual problem in Bangkok. It is, all things considered, a relatively clean city.
Bring your drivers license, or a photocopy of your passport. NOBODY checks. I get carded 50% of the time at RCA but they really don't care. There is also a bar on Khaosan road named ''We Dont Check ID'' (literally the businesses name), if you're really worried.
I already regret my decision to move into VP Tower at Victory Monument. Banged a girl last night who lives in a really nice studio in Thong Lor. 10 minutes walk from Demo and Funky. She has only 1 month contract and pays 8k. Thats insane

Name? I think I may know it if it's right next to the BTS. A pretty grotty place tbf, but great location. Sutti Mansion or something?
I have no idea about the name, sorry. And it wasn't really an apartment. More like a shared housing. It's a 10 minute walk to BTS.

Btw: any recommendations on a barber shop?
A really nice studio close to Demo for 8k?

Are you sure that it only costs 8k and that it's "really nice"? That would be way under priced compared to everything else in the area.
It definitely is close to Demo. I don't know whats "really nice" for you, but to me it looks better than any of the places on afarangs blog that are in that price range. Hell it even looks better than my 14k room. Maybe the girl lied to me about the price, who knows. If I ever go there again, I will take some pics and talk with the owner about the price.
I know a guy that lives in Thonglor for 8k a month. He shares a massive old condo with 5 other people...including 3 white women.

I'd recommend Never say cutz. They've got shops all over BKK now, but I've only gone to the one directly on Sukhumvit, between Suk soi 49 and 51.

For what it's worth, you can find short term studios on both Thong Lor and Ekkamai for 20,000 BHT a month. No gym, no pool but nice enough rooms.

It is not uncommon to find a studio of 24sqm with a garden view or on the ground or first floor in an old building in that area for 8k. For most purposes that is actually considered mid range for bangkok. You can find studio far lower then that if you get offline. Most places have dicky landlords mind you.

Same here, been going since I was 19, never gotten carded for anything in Bkk.

I take that back, got carded several times refilling my student MRT card, had to show them my student ID every time. Also had a girlfriend detained and charged 1800 baht after I gave her one of my old student cards. Don't try to cheat the MRT out of 3 baht, guys, they'll fuck you up.

You can definitely find places for 8k in the area, I just can't imagine finding a really nice studio close to soi 10 for that price. A studio yes, but I've seen 8k studios and they are not usually very nice, even in cheaper areas of the city. I bet you could get a pretty nice one for 8k around Bearing or somewhere, but Thonglor I'd be surprised.

Also check out Black Amber.

It's got a old school, 50's type if theme goin on and they do straight razor shaves and give you whiskey. Few friends went and loved it.
Rio, I don't think I worded that post very well lol. What I was saying was while this guy does live in Thonglor for 8k it's in a shitty condo filled with fucking room mates. 3 of which are "indepentdent" women with dyke haircuts.
Not my ideal set up.

Just sent you a pm with a pic of the studio.

Ah, ok. That makes sense lol.
Please send me the pic as well. Sounds like an amazing deal. On the other side you can always share a house around thong lo for this money per room per person.
Saw the pic. It's not a bad room, but it's not nice. It's a standard old Thai apartment. Maybe a bit better, but I wouldn't call it nice at all. If 8k was my budget I'd definitely consider it though.
You guys are all spoiled. My last apartment was 4k/month.

I had a bed and a shower(no hot water, cold showers are good for you), and outside there was a water machine and an old woman selling tum kratorn. What more do you princesses need?
Anyone go to RQ? I am a level 2 at Tennis and pretty average at squash/badminton. Looking to play most days after 6pm.

Hey dude, I read in your blog about the jungle gym at Ekkamai. I just signed a lease for a place on 65/1, is it anywhere near that?
Yes mate it's opposite Major Ekkamai. It will be hard to find but you need to go into this school building, there will be a futsul court in the carpark, walk in and there's a building at the back with the gym. From 65/1 it's prob a 5-8 min walk.

Read the comments for that post, people have been asking for directions.
God I regret staying by Khao San road. Just a big tourist trap.
