I just booked myself a one way ticket to Bangkok. I arrive on Wednesday. Banana

Never been to Asia before, so this will be a new experience for me. I will be reading this thread from beginning to end tonight.

If you have any questions, fire them away after reading, more than happy to help.
I'm going to pattaya this weekend. is there anywhere there worth going for gaming, or is it pretty much all hookers there?

Thanks!

I picked up one of the hottest girls I've ever been with in Pattaya but it was my only lay in 5 nights there and I got extremely lucky. Unless you day game massage girls, girls at the dry cleaners, shop assistants etc you probably won't have much luck, outside of hookers. Pattaya's worth doing once for the attention you get and cheap prices (Paid 100 baht for a quality massage and 70 baht for a haircut!) but it's probably one of the worst places for actual game in the world.

Men in Pattaya don't have any game. That's why they're in Pattaya.

Do you need a return ticket from Thailand when entering to show you're leaving?

Depends on your nationality

I booked an outbound ticket to Hong Kong as a safeguard.
Technically yes, but usually nobody ever checks. The only place you will get asked is before you board your flight.

As a safegaurd you can email any of the Bangkok visa companies and book a ticket for a border run to Cambodia. Ask them to send an email back with your full name, nationally and passport number and to confirm your booking in the same email.

You don't pay for the bus ticket either but have a receipt of conformation. When I got my visa in Jakarta, this was okay for proof of onward travel.

Thanks. Can you recommend a good border run company to do this with?

Bangkok Buddy.
As an Australian citizen, we get 30 days in Thailand without having to apply for a visa. If I fly out and fly back in again that time is reset right? Is there any rules surrounding this? Seems a little easy to me.
If you go to immigration, that 30 days turns into 60 without leaving the country. You only have to pay 1900 Baht to immigration.

No you can do it as many times as you want. Or as Kdog said, you can extend for 7 days if it's a a 30 day visa which you got at the airport. If you get a tourist visa that gives you 60 days which you can extend for another 30 days at the immigration office.

@Kdog, I'm sure the 30 days is extended for 7 days and the 60 day tourist visa for another 30 days, right?

Not sure ifiit's changed since January but I went in with an Aussie passport and extended the 30 days by another 30, just went to the immigration office with 2 photos and the fee
@Afarang.. it's 30 now. They changed that last September I believe among all the other visa chaos that was going on last year.
I can confirm it's 30 for UK too, just extended myself.
Hey dudes, I'm in BKK for the rest of July. Lived here a couple years ago before moving to Taipei. I'm 27 from the US, online poker player. Let me know if any of you want to do some daygaming or clubbing.
Can anyone recommend somewhere to get tested for STDs in Bangkok, preferably Sukhumvit?

Going there you'll also meet the fattest woman in all of Thailand. Idea

I got my ticket going back to Bangkok in the end of September already. 11000Bath from Stockholm one way no layover, can't complain about the price. Counting the days.
On my way to Bangkok on Tuesday. It will be my first trip to SE Asia. Really stoked to experience Thailand! Would love to grab a beer and possibly game with some other RVFers...

Plus they have a big box of free condoms and lube sachets!
Last Saturday (July 4/5) SafeHouse in Thonglor closed down at 2 am. When we went to Mixx afterwards it was already closed The week before Moxx was rocking till 5am in morning... , which it usually is. Anyone know if any changes coming up, or just a temp thing last weekend? Planning a new trip later in July so any intel appreciated. Cheers

Nobody ever knows what is happening or what's open or closed. Police seem to shut things down on different days. Pot luck.

Last Saturday everything was closed except for Shock39 and Spicy.

After Moon closed before 2am last night, soi 11 was business as usual.
Where would YOU live in Bangkok with a 10,000 baht (€260, $300) per month housing budget?

I'm seeing some decent furnished studios in On Nut in this price range.
