family is worth 20 million US or more. There is no such thing as 'well off' thais in the American sense (within thailand.) There are those connected to royal blood, police and military, or 75% chinese ethnicity business families, and those who are not of either of those 2 lineage.

These families are the ones that own the real estate and employ the normal thais, though often because of buddhism the girls are normal worker bees while the the boys run the businesses and manage the family wealth.

there is a 0.5% of the population that own 99% of the wealth and property of the country. For example one family owns every 711 in the country

Often wealthy Thais do not go to American colleges or Universities, unless it is Harvard or some Ivy League school, it's just not part of their culture like maybe a Chinese person would do. Thais are very much in their own bubble in this sense

That's what I considered a wealthy Thai was well.

Although, I do know a few who did go to school for business just so they cook take over for their fathers hospital or other business. They basically just partied and went through the emotions though

Steak doesn't know what he is talking about and yes Brodiaga, you are correct about how 7/11 operates in Thailand.

So many untrue statements in this post that I don't know where to start.

As far as I know, Steak is correct about 7-11 in Thailand. It is exclusively operated by the CP Group, which in turn is owned by one of the richest families in Thailand.

7-11 Thailand has no official link to the parent company in Japan (other than the franchise licene), although CP does have a minority share in that company too!
AFAIK you can apply to set one up but must be approved by CP in order to setup one up.

Yeah CP own the master franchise. You effectively sub franchise it from them.

As an aside I wish people would steer clear of the whole "HiSo" thing it gets misused so often, trust me no one is meeting a genuine HiSo girl on the Internet and coming over to bang her on their holidays.
A Thai friend owns two 7-Eleven franchises 50 meters apart. When he opened the first one, volume was very robust for the first 6 months. At this point he was forced to open the second, or they would grant a new franchise just down the soi. What CP does is very clever, but the original statement was, "one family owns every 711 in the country" which is clearly false.
I agree with 0898 about the misunderstanding of the word 'HiSo' which for Thais is short for High Society. Others may have a different opinion of what constitutes HiSo, but this actually came up in conversation with my wife a few weeks ago. Families that have a close association with the Royal Family, or very wealthy old money and usually the family fits into both categories. Even very wealthy new money Thais are not really HiSo according to her.

Her Grandfather (deceased) was a General in the Thai army and she has had to put up with the whole class crap for most of her life, but she isn't HiSo. One of her aunts who is the shining star of the General's offspring and has a very senior position in the Thai government married an average Thai guy who's family is originally from Isaan. He is a great guy btw, and although Grandmother doesn't approve of him and to a lesser extent me, she pretends that we are part of the family and everyone else seems like they don't have a problem.

The extended family did inquire about Sin Sod, but luckily Grandmother had told my wife long before I met her that she wouldn't ask for it, so I didn't pay or display. In case anyone is confused, my wife lost both her parents when she was young and was raised by her Grandfather and Grandmother.
Gave up a seemingly sure notch by telling the truth about my intentions.

She asks if I'm looking for a serious relationship or just having fun. Some of her words... "because if I have sex with you, I'm going to easily fall in love and want you more and more. So if you aren't serious I want to know now so I don't get hurt. I'm looking for long term serious relationship. please be honest"

I didn't have the heart to lie and say I wanted something more, so I told her that I just got out of a relationship and was just looking to meet people and have fun. I added, "if you have any doubts about me, I won't ask you to come and see me. I only want you to come if you really really really want to... if not, we can just be friends."

She opted out. Fine. Didn't want to make it harder for the next guy. Onto the next Smile

How is the quality compared to the Philippines?

Yes, I meant notches. Now at 6, all from online.

Quality is same or slightly better than Philippines, at least physically. But filipinas have more personality and better English. I find it a little hard to connect with Thais. Either way, I've gotten girls where I think "I don't get this quality back home... am I dreaming? Somebody pinch me..."

Tinder or Thai Friendly?

Are you telling them you're staying for a long time or admitting that you're just visiting and looking for fun?

In my month in Thailand in 2014 I got the "how long are you here for?" or "what are you looking for?" shit tests more than all other times in my life added together.

Also had several girls chucking huge fits as to why I didn't want to see them... constantly asking what I'm doing over the phone... if I'm seeing other girls. I seem to attract crazy bitches tho regardless of country. Other guys' experiences I know that have been to TH don't reflect my own

I guess I can see why guys like heading over there to meet potential GFs wives (I'd personally only consider the top-tier girls) - but wouldn't go back to smash a bunch of pussy for another month. So much drama... still kinda fun tho... next stop Colombia? tard
Girl who I turned away because she wanted something serious is now pestering to meet me again. I'm in the middle of a date with another girl.

Go figure. Women... they work in funny ways.
The greatest irony is that the online chicks ask how long you stay but actually prefer the fresh meat off the plane. Go figure.

They do indeed. The more they have to spell out how serious they are...

But she has a car.

She paid for my meal.
Any members going to RCA tomorrow? Let's meet and have some drinks!
I was all over the dating sites and apps when I got here, may even say I was obsessed for a little while spending hours each day on it. Got to the point where the first thing I did when I woke up was to check my Line/Thai Friendly/ Thai Cupid etc.

A lot of girls will say spout generic crap like "I want a good guy" "I don't do one stand stand" or "I don't X, Y or Z" when in fact they will do all of them and more.

It's more just about trying to save face and not look like a slut. When you stop messaging them they'll keep messaging you to meetup. It was all getting a bit long winded for me so in my profile I just put it blunt. Acts as a natural filter to avoid that BS. However, doing this you'll also put yourself in the 'playboy' category and girls that otherwise would have meet for a ONS if you played their BS game are not going to message you.
I like that strategy Afarang. Time-saving I bet.

Yeah - there are very few truly "good" girls on Thai Friendly or Tinder etc.

If they talk about wanting an LTR/no ONS, it makes me suspect that they have already done it plenty of times. And let's face it. Most of them (the groupie girls) are riding the carousel pretty damn hard.

Relatively innocent chicks don't have the reference experiences to know what they "want" or "don't want", if that makes sense. You can feel the difference in their communication style alone.
When I was in Bangkok a few months back I hooked up with a girl and she got all clingy and wanted me as her boyfriend. I told her straight up that I'm not looking for a relationship (when I saw her FB she had loads of pics with farang dudes, definitely not the kind of girl I would be serious with). I suggested we can still be friends/fuckbuddys and to my surprise she agreed. Then she started asking me if I was meeting other girls, and how many I slept with. I told her pretty much the truth kind of as an experiment and partly because I really didn't care about losing her. Sure enough, she blocked my Line as soon as I said that Big Grin So in my experience you should mostly try and avoid a playboy image, it might sound obvious but you can still be clear you're not looking for a relationship but at the same time don't even hint there are other girls. Say you're too busy with your work and/or travel too much to commit to a relationship.
Despite the "no ONS/hookups" being a dead giveaway that they've done it in the past, I actually prefer it when girls DON'T say this. Because if they do, it's more trouble than it's worth. I'd have to deal with questions like "what do you mean by 'fun'?" or "are you here just for the girls?"

I can deal with it by giving innocent answers, but their paranoia certainly doesn't help the interaction flow naturally.
I am off to Bkk next wednesday I already have started pipelining girls from Tinder. The quality on OKCupid and Badoo are very bad. I am having to spend a lot of time reading their profiles in case i swipe a lady boy and also the quality can range dramatically.

Its very easy to get their Line ID. Get it after a few messages exchange on tinder and start chatting to them on Line. I am now working out which girls are DTF and set up the meets straight away next week. A lot appears not to drink which will be challenging. The students (19-23) from university are the ones who seem to be the most outgoing and fun so far, I am 38 but passing off as 29, so wish me luck gents.

My strategy is best for people who live here and don't want to deal with the BS. If you're here on a holiday I would go with what everyone else does.

Agree with AFarang, first couple of months just filled my boots, rattling through 2 or 3 a day. These days I'll openly tell new girls I have a gf so they can't have anything serious, just play, and a surprising amount are cool with it.
Hello,

Does anyone know which bars in Bangkok are showing March Madness NCAA basketball games?
