WOW -- that is probably the best speech of its kind I've ever heard. It's an incredible display of heart and social intelligence. To go through so many people name by name by name and turn to each of them and be able to say something personal with real unaffected feeling to each one, including the equipment guys and trainers -- is really exceptional.

The dudes who play with this guy, his coaches, and everyone else who works with him in that organization must truly love him and respect him to death. It's almost scary to think about.

There is so much chatter about "faith" from intellectual types who have no relation to it whatsoever and should never talk about it but this guy is as pure an example of a Christian and an American as you will ever find. And it's a great thing to see.

I say good for CP3 and the Clippers.

Better to make sure that hamstring is good up through a potential Finals than to roll the dice so soon on it.

Remarkable display by the Clippers tonight. Game 7 against the Spurs really hardened the team. Rockets I feel got complacent because they knew CP would be out.

What a win by the Bulls too.

Rockets threw in the towel with two and a half to go, and what, only 8 down?

I thought it was the Clippers that were beat up from a hard series and needed to recover/conserve...

Surprised to see the Rockets so soft and casual tonight. If they play like that, they'll get swept.

RE: The NBA Thread
Great game 1 by the Bulls.

I'm still not sold on them though. There are a lot of question marks with this Bulls team.

First, Noah was garbage and he clearly doesn't look like his old self and has been injured all year, 0 points by him tonight, its 4 vs. 5 whenever they try to do something on offense.

Second, how well will Rose play having only one day of rest? He usually has mediocre games when he has 2 days rest. How will he fare having only one day of rest? Will be interesting to see.

Third, Kirk Hinrich should not be in there guarding anyone. Kyrie Irvine made him look silly. I don't get Thibs's obsession with Kirk. Clearly the better option there is Tony Snell who is a lot younger, longer, and at this point a better defender than Kirk Hinrich. Thibs's unwillingness to play rookies or younger players who are clearly better annoys the hell out of me sometimes.

The Bulls played pretty much a perfect game and they lost by 7 all while Lebron having 19 points. Just imagine if Lebron would have scored 30 or 40.

As for the Cavs, my main concern I have is Kyrie Irvine. Kyrie Irvine played great scoring 30 points. How will he respond after being handed his first playoff loss and after having a great performance? Will he stay calm and try to duplicate his game 1 performance or will he try to do too much? Another question I have is will Shumpert have another night where he scores 20 points? I highly doubt it.

One thing is for sure though that Lebron will come out guns blazing in game 2.

Should be a great series, but as a Bulls fan I am very nervous.

The Grizzlies play very good defense. I had no idea.

Respect to Michael Conley for playing with that injury.

Warriors couldn't throw a ball in the ocean tonight if they were in the middle of the Pacific on a boat. Green and Barnes kill the offense when they can't hit open 3s, they always get open looks because of Steph and Klay. Sloppy passing and poor overall execution. Next two games will really reveal whether or not the Dubs have the right stuff.

Respect for the one eyed Charlie though, and the Grizzlies played great defense and really had good disruption of passing lanes (a little too great imo, got away with lots of hacks and no-calls).

No worries really for GSW.

Grizzlies still didn't score >100. They have demonstrated they can't score more than 99 against the warriors, and it's rare the Warriors score less than 100.

(Really) Bad offensive night is all.

They will score more 99 / 100

Chris Paul's performance in game 7 vs The Spurs was legendary! Very few people could have done what he did. I will always remember that game!

Mike Conley's performance last night was also legendary! Very few people could have surgery on their face and less than a week later, go out and do what he did.

Chris Paul and Mike Conley are some tough, skilled dudes! Inspiring performances!

Reminded me of one of my favorite performances in NBA history..

When Isiah Thomas scored 25 points in the 4th quarter of a Finals game on a severely sprained ankle:

I think about this game whenever I am hurt. I think about this game whenever I am being mentally weak. This game inspired me to be tough!

---

Tony Allen is one of my favorite players in the league!

The defense he played on Klay Thompson was phenomenal!

Most basketball players and fans love offense. I love defense. My favorite thing in basketball is guarding a good player and shutting him down.

Defense is about desire, toughness, effort, and strategy. It was a pleasure to watch Tony Allen defend last night.

--

I'm looking forward to Cavs-Bulls & Rockets-Clippers tonight!

Can Lebron carry the Cavs? Can Kyrie be a great point guard?

Are the Bulls the best team in the NBA? Can they win 2 in Cleveland?

Is James Harden a selfish loser? Is Dwight Howard soft?

Are the Clippers good enough?

I can't wait to find out!

I hope they rest Paul tonight. Clippers have already got the split, and what's to suggest they can't get another win without him?

Better to wait until he's 100% if you can afford it. If they had lost the first game, it would be different.

RE: The NBA Thread
- This Grizz-Warriors series just got much more interesting with the return of Mike Conley.

- Can Courtney Lee and Tony Allen continue to limit the offense of The Splash Bros?

- Memphis killed GS with timely offensive rebounding time and time again during game 2. Speaking of which...

- This Grizz team reminds me of those gritty half-court oriented mid-90s Knicks teams with Zach Randolph possessing the similar toughness of Charles Oakley though playing a more offensively-gifted game.

- It makes me wonder just how good teams like New Orleans or Memphis would be if they played in bigger markets generating more corporate revenue. These are dangerous spoilers year in year out out but not being able to retain well developed players or add depth prevents them from being true contenders.

- OKC/Cleveland/Charlotte = small markets too but ownership seems to possess more $$$$

Cleveland has been on fire from 3 tonight. Its almost as they can't miss.

Shumpert has been playing like a borderline all-star. If he keeps this up all series I wouldn't be surprised to see a nice contract coming in his future.

If the Bulls don't lock down on defense like they did in game 1 this will be a short series.

Unless the Rockets wake up and play with more aggressively, this is going towards a sweep. Who would have thought it?
Amazed to see the Rockets play so casually and so soft! Incredible!

What's going on with the Rockets? Any Rockets experts care to enlighten us? Kai?
