They don't really care about the environment in functional sense. I tried to explain to an "environmentalist" some time ago that deer are a non-native species in my state (and all of Australia for that matter) and as such they should be eradicated so that native animals are not placed in competition with them.

For most of these people it's a religion, absent any real holy texts to give it form or function. Amazingly though it has the hallmarks of the old strains of hardcore puritanism where suffering is undertaken for its own sake rather than any actual measurable social (environmental) benefit. I remember not so long ago there was a local push for every household to have to separate all their recyclables into paper/cardboard/tin/aluminium/clear-glass/non-clear-glass/etc. I asked a councilman how it made sense since it added such effort to the collection process that it would be far simpler just to sort it all at a facility dedicated purely to sorting the materials. He couldn't explain it except to say that it was the brainchild of councilperson (described the 60-something childless cat-lady that managed to get elected that year).

Maybe the cat-lady didn't even understand why she was doing what she was doing but it was just another manifestation of hardcore orthodox environmental puritanism. Sorting your recycling into 7 different bloody bins was the equivalent of a muslim or a Catholic having to do their daily prayers, and the giddy high for the cat lady was that she had acquired the position of a priest or imam where she could hold people accountable to perform these acts of worship.

These virtues they signal, they don't have them. But part of Clown World is that useful idiot "woke" millennials lose any skepticism they should have for either big government, big corporations (or any big organization) just because they pander to wokeness.

Mercedes is a company that manufactured war material for the WW2 German war economy and benefited from indentured servants during that same period taken from Eastern Europe. No doubt at that time they pretended to be all in for Nazism, the Fatherland and German nationalism. But what they really wanted (and got) were the sweet government contracts.

I don't believe they hold any values other than the nihilistic pursuit of profit.

Yes, but a company is just made up of large number of shifting personnel. There's no one at BMW now that made money in WW2. Just people taking their money from salary or shares and moving on. If we "punish" any company - go woke , go broke, etc - even if they totally go bankrupt and get liquidated - no individual is even going to miss a meal, except maybe the lowest of the workers. The executives will remain part of the rich elite.

One of the side benefits to being forced to healthy about five years ago, aside from a vast improvement to my health and energy levels, is that I seldom give any of my money to these corporate conglomerates. Here most meat comes from halal/kosher slaughterhouses, so you end up sponsoring your replacement anyway ..
I eat less and less meat anyway, the quality drop over the last 20 years has been almost impossible to believe

Mainly in Europe.

In the USA you can get prime quality beef, pork, turkey, or chicken. I think European men are smaller than US men for this simple difference in protein quality.
