RE: The NBA Thread
Pretty skeptical of the Bulls.
Say D Rose is back, 100%. Great, he is amazing.

Cavs will still rain threes on them and Lebron can lock up D Rose on defense. Are the Bulls gonna beat the cavs with interior scoring? That really is their only option, and the cavs greatest weakness is interior defense.

All the same, I will take lebron and company over D Rose and company.

But I would bet it is the Spurs or Thunder that win. Both of those teams seem better poised to exploit the Cavs terrible interior defense.

Anyone saw what Davis did? Could New Orleans become a dark horse this year? Would be interesting if he plays like this more. Those numbers he dropped stunned me..

RE: The NBA Thread
Anthony Davis has become a beast. Maybe early candidate for Most Improved player? The team however will not be unseating too many in the West's top brass.

I do think that he will put on a Dwight Howard in Orlando type of show on a nightly basis, except with better offensive chops. Since he has not shown signs of being a teddy bear like Dwight, he will surpass him.

Now as his rookie contract ends, he will probably go to a top level big market team on a max contract [maybe LA in the post Kobe era?] Atleast that is what I am hoping happens.

Regardless, it is good to see a reemergence of some skilled big men in the league.

Pelicans will be in the playoffs if they stay healthy.

Asik makes them a real playoff team, him and Davis shut down the paint for opposing teams. Anderson now becomes a specialist three point shooter who can play along Asik or Davis without their defense falling apart.

They have Jrue Holiday back healthy, and hopefully Davis stays healthy too.

Roght now give me the Pelicans over the Rockets to get into the playoffs.

The Rockers front court is much better than the Pelicans. They are also more athletic upfront.

Will Eric Gordon ever play 60+ games again?

Davis is going to be MVP candidate the next 10 years if he stays clear of injuries. Played great in Spain this summer too. Best defensive presence since prime Duncan, but obviously need work on his back to basket game, though has a jumper already.

I'm more excited for the Hornets actually with Stephenson one of my favorite players in the league. Puts up damn near a triple double every game playing guard. Kemba Walker and him at the two guards is a pretty damn good backcourt and Al Jefferson with that smooth post game. Going to be a fun team to watch.

This Cavs game has gotten good. New York isn't as bad as I thought they were.

The Cavs are dripping with talent. They might run a train offensively once they start clicking together. They look like a Ferrari bucking in 1st and 2nd gear on an empty road because the driver is scared. It won't stay like this for long at all.

Great way to put it! More importantly - the Bulls picked them apart like 50-year-old surgeon playing Operation. Thibs is brilliant. Who is this Cavs coach?

Melo is still a great...and although I still think Derek Fisher is a bitch he might be (relatively) young enough to relate to this young talent and drive them to the playoffs.

Lastly Blake Griffin has really matured and I think it's due to him finally letting his beard grow some more.

Westbrook got hurt in the second q and the Clips needed their starters till the very end to beat the aThunder by three.

Telfair - Roberson - Perry Jones - Ibaka - Adams

Good effort on the Thunder to keep it close.

Edit. Westbrook has a hand fracture!

Yeah that's what I was thinking even though I only saw the highlights. Once LeBron, Love and Irving figure each other out and start clicking they will really turn it up a notch. Will be interesting to see.

FYI guys you can now get the NBA League Pass (all games) for free until November 4th (some sort of trial run on NBA.com)

Maybe no one else will think this is funny, but in my opinion, Deadspin has one of the funniest comment sections in terms of sports websites.

"I honestly do not understand the hate going around. Yes, he is injured a lot but he is still a good looking dude. The type that I would let my daughter date. Hell, I would probably do him if I could. I mean I may not be a catch for many of 'em but I do have a great physique a la Patrick Duffy."

question: Amare stoudemire is looking better this year. Why don't the knicks run pick and roll for him more? It's such a devastating weapon I don't understand why teams don't run pick and roll more often for big men like amare.

They have no good PG. Amare was killing it with Nash in PHX, but Calderon is out and Larkin isn't experienced enough yet. Prigioni is also an overpasser, so he might hesitate to shoot.

Lol i don't give a shit about the knicks - never been a masochist Sleepy

But it always bothers me when good players are either being under used or not used properly. Amare can still be a GOOD player if used correctly.

Other players who get snubbed:
- Aaron Brooks - VERY HAPPY to see him playing quality minutes behind Rose in Chicago.
- Nate Robinson - historically just has bounced around too much.

You have these guys getting underplayed, misplayed, or underpaid, and then you have washed up guys who don't know how to do anything but shoot bricks the minute they get the ball:
- caron butler
- derek fish before he retired
- john salmons

Why?? Why do teams do this for washed up "veterans"? If you're going to pick up "veterans," at least use former stars. T-Mac had a few years when he was far more productive than the above players and still got ZERO play on the spurs and couldn't hold a roster spot before that. Why?? Makes no sense man.

Wade may have been trolling us. If he stays healthy him and the Heat will be fine. It looks like both Bosh and Wade (Bosh especially) benefited from 4 years of Bron being pounded into dust playing 50 mins + a game. Out of those three Bosh looks the most fresh this season. Not saying he has more skill but his game is good more in season type form.

The guy is talented but he is not worth a max contract. He should get the same money Tyson Chandler or Ben Wallace got; $10M+ a year but not the Max. On a team where Hall of Famers are taking paycuts, it's not going to be Kawhi with the leverage.

Other teams won't be so foolish to throw a max contract at a guy with a neutral offensive impact.
