Month and 12 days. Longest I've went.

I'm not aggressive anymore ,I could really use that energy I had when I first started.

Had a bit of a problem before...and this is going to sound odd but what seems to have caused a little bit of a change was prayer.

Ran through this one and it was among the requests:https://www.catholiccompany.com/getfed/st-andrews-christmas-novena-november-30/

I'm not exactly sure what happened, but I had a slight relapse(just skimming a few pictures without looking close) but the part of my brain that has a feedback-reward mechanism has broken. I don't have that addictive pull towards it. While recalling some of the images is pleasant(I prefer "softer" sites like X-art style) thinking of actually looking at them triggers an unpleasant feeling response mechanism in my brain. Somehow my conditioning appears to have reversed itself.

We'll see if this is long term or just temporary.

I've been no porn since December 30. That's one of my bigger aims this year.

This is a strange confession but in eliminating all porn videos, the few times I do fap, I often pull up a single photo of a hot tinder match or IG model. The post-fap depression is much lighter but I still feel like a loser for doing this. I'm going to attempt to cut this out too. Any guys go through a similar transition?

Also, I figured if you educated yourself on how terrible porn is for your brain it would help you resist the urges. So I just bought this well-reviewed book (non-affiliate). I'll drop a review in a few weeks.

I deactivated/delete all my dating profiles. Deleted snapchat. Logged off Facebook and deleted the app. logged off Facebook on my laptop too (kept Facebook messenger app). I don't have an IG profile. Twitter is safe I don't follow any nude bitches on there. I don't have any saved videos that I know of. I installed a web filter but that has an on/off toggle. I lasted 12 days before incident. Funny thing is it was one of the threads from this website... 10 thread or one of the others.

Still going strong (since pre Christmas), although played down there for a bit with the anticipation of getting some action thanks to the dates I had lined up but it all fell through. Watched some sexy stuff for some 15 minutes but that was it. It's easy to get corrupted but then the guilt would hit with all its might. My goal is not to self-please, only get girls to please.

I've done this all kinds of different ways man. From Tinder to flipping through photos/videos of me fucking ex girls to dirty stories all together. Cold turkey is a much more effective method.

If I continue watching/reading stuff even just a couple of pictures it builds the same habits anyways. Maybe reading dirty stories are not as destructive as porn, but I think the same transition occurs where first few stories I read are power dynamics and down the rabbit hole I go until a month later you're jerking off to some sick depraved shit.

Been going strong since I got back. Used my woman almost every day, makes it easier.

Here's to 24 days!

RE: NoPorn / NoFap Google Group - For Those Who're Serious - FilipSRB - 01-14-2017 12:03 PM

Never went longer then 5 days in my life without fapping. This is about to change now. I also deleted my Instagram account as I found myself using it mostly for the same reason as porn sites. I deleted facebook app from the phone, still vary about deleting the account because facebook is the main way of finding out whats going on in the city as far as nightlife is concerned, and the online forum for my universty is a desert, everybody switched to facebook groups, but I will try to limit my exposure, if I can't do that then then fuck it, I will delete it too, I have been thinking about it for a long time anyway.

I don't follow IG models because I identified IG models as triggers to fap. Also, I don't use Tinder because some girls there are just posing like whores which can be a trigger to relapse too. Anyway I installed a website blocker in all my browsers, and thankfully I am better at avoiding fapping because of all these "inevitability thinking".

RE: NoPorn / NoFap Google Group - For Those Who're Serious - [email protected] - 01-17-2017 02:26 PM

Ultimately I think NO FAP will vary person to person. I have really cut down on my porn consumption and fapping (I could never fap with just my imagination) and I have seen advantages and disadvantages. I feel...I dunno, more confident when I haven't fapped in a week. It takes a certain level of determination to quit/cut down if you were doing it daily. So it definitely helps in that regard. My hard ons are rock hard too, which is nice. The disadvantage though is that I cannot last nearly as long when I have sex. It just feels too good and I'm blowing it way too early. Someone else had mentioned in another thread that he likes the sex to be good for both parties, so lasting more than 10 minutes is important. And that's how I feel.

So I'm just trying to find a happy medium for myself. I was going about a week before looking at porn, but maybe I'll cut it down to twice a week. You just have to know what end result you're looking for and find out what works best for you.

Well done.
Please give us a few more details.
Have you been with girls during this time ? Did you "peek" and look at porn ? How have the urges been in general ?
What has improved in your life ?

I'll preface by saying I've been at this NoFap deal for at least four years. Trying to quit, going long stretches of NoFap or NoPorn. This is nothing new.

About a year ago that I realized I never really snapped the porn addiction. Even on long NoFap streaks, I would still edge and get a little dopamine rush looking at porn. It was a regular occurrence and did not help with NoFap.

For most of 2016 I would go a few weeks without jerking off, then maybe watch some porn...I really half-assed things. I had other business going on and if I wanted to jerk off I wouldn't resist as much as I should. In the summer I had some health issues and used masturbation to cope. This was bad so I started NoFap again, but then I was disappointed in performance in bed.

Towards the end of the year I started trying edging (once again) to extend performance. This helped some but I found my performance issues to be mental, not physical. I would get worked up and excited, then blow my load. At this point I was frustrated with edging. I did it for months and did not see results, PLUS I was cuming a few times a week so mental clarity was done. I was using porn because I wouldn't naturally get hard on cue to edge. So I stopped.

One of the issues I was dealing with during eding is pelvic floor imbalance. I have a strong kegel and can move my dick on command, but can't figure how to reverse kegel for my life. I tried doing reverse kegels but it's difficult to dedicate time to.

At this time I was reading PEGym.com a lot. There is A LOT of broscience on that forum, but the guys mean well and post their real experiences. There's one guy on there who really stuck out. His username is JamesMonroe, he tried edging, death grip, NoFap, etc. After many countless attempts he finally got over PE by "having sex a lot with his gf." He had posts where he was blunt about it all, explaining how the exercises helped but he never got over the hump until the was banging constantly. Months of sex in a committed relationship reset his mental pathways and cleared up his pelvic floor.

Therefore I provide the following hypothesis of my problems:

Problem #1 - Mental - Extended porn sessions builds up dopamine in my brain until I jerk off and blow my load quickly. This is how I've jacked off for most of my life. When I was a kid I would watch porn on the family computer and then go to the bathroom to jerk off. When I was in college I had a roommate and would do the same. Now out of college, I only jack off when I fail NoFap and go down the rabbithole (softcore, hardcore, jerkoff).

This explains first-time performance anxiety. So excited to bang a new chick I blow fast.

This problem is an uncalibrated dopamine feedback loop. My brain gets extremely excited when good things are happening, and sad when things are going bad. This also correlates with anxiety/panic attacks I've had most of my life (topic for another thread). Curing anxiety by getting off prescription pills has calmed my mind more than any drug, so instead of having my brain ride peaks and valleys, I want it to be steady.

Problem #2 - Pelvic floor imbalance - I've been practicing kegels for a long time, people were preaching it on the original NoFap subreddit. They're fun to do, so I would do them while watching porn and even during sex.

How I plan to fix these problems -

#1 - long term NoFap and NoPorn. At least a year, to rewire my brain. I have reached 3 months and have confidence I will continue strong.

#2 - have sex as much as possible to correctly rewire my brain. Even though I racked up some notches, I didn't have a serious girlfriend until I was 20, so my sex life was sporadic, drunk, and under the influence of regular masturbation. Right now I have 2 girlfriends I'm banging raw. My performance is much better because I'm relaxed. I know these girls, and enjoy the experience.

#3 - meditation, and lots of deep squats to stretch the pelvic floor.

#4 - reverse kegels. All the time. I do it whenever I'm bored or thinking about my dick. It's actually relaxing.

So far the experiment is going well. I have sex at minimum once a week. My mental clarity is off the charts, thanks to dialing in all aspects of my life. If I don't bang for 6 days I start getting strong strong urges. I stay busy during the day so they don't affect my concentration, but they do strike hard at night. I regularly take OptiZinc and high dose magnesium which helps me knock the fuck out. If I get horny at night I'll put on some meditation or hypnotism tapes. If these don't work I take melatonin or 5-HTP.

I'm excited with how things are going. I know that if I lose these girls it'll be a challenge stocking my sex life up again, but that's what game is there for.

"Years of conditioning cannot be overcome in mere weeks."

Been several weeks now without porn or fapping. Energy levels are certainly up. It is amazing how horny a man can get when he refrains from porn. Morning wood and thinking about sex all the time. Your body seems to have a reset period from all that dullness of porn and wanking. Just giving it a breather makes me feel more focused and on point. The temptation is still there, but I try to channel it in the gym. I'm currently in wife search mode. Once I find her, I'm going to destroy her! Big Grin

RE: NoPorn / NoFap Google Group - For Those Who're Serious - ShotgunUppercuts - 01-18-2017 12:12 AM

Though I've been weeks without jacking it I still venture into porn sites when I'm bored. Need to cut that out.

RE: NoPorn / NoFap Google Group - For Those Who're Serious - John Michael Kane - 01-18-2017 12:25 AM

Get your filters setup so you have a barrier when you are tempted. That's the easiest way of preventing that temptation.

Redbeard, that is an excellent write up.
Very helpful, honest and informative.
I will try out some of new beneficial habits you mentioned in your long post.

@redbeard

What's the difference between normal kegels and reverse kegels?

I was wondering this too.

Great write up Redbeard. Very detailed and informative. Sounds like the type of stuff I deal with too as far as PA. No Fap has helped me get erections faster and harder (and reducing PA) BUT I seem to get too excited and blow it too quickly. And when I watched porn daily, I would have the opposite problem (difficulty getting aroused however I could last a lot longer).

RE: NoPorn / NoFap Google Group - For Those Who're Serious - S3K2 - 01-18-2017 04:28 PM

Instead of "pulling on your pelvis muscles" your "pushing out on them".

I.e. when you pee, gently force out your pee instead of cutting it off with a regular kegal. You must have done at least a couple thousand kegals to properly reverse kegal however. Another newbie friendly way to reverse kegal is to take a fake shit. Push your anus out. Once you get the feel of the muscles, you no longer have to "fake shit or piss" you will have total control of the muscles. At this point, you also have total control of ejaculation.

Notice how your lower stomach sucks in during a kegal. It should be forced out for a reverse kegal. Hence it's called a "reverse" kegal, everything is reversed.
