I think this is an under-emphasized facet of NP/NF.

Knowing that a strong performance in bed increases your odds of seeing a girl again can put a lot of pressure on a guy, and worrying about porn-induced ED only makes things worse.

This is why I recommend newcomers check out the Dick Pills thread and get themselves some tadacip or something for when they're ready to jump back into the game.

I quit porn back in 2013, and although I've endured a few relapses I consider myself for the most part recovered.

Even so, I always take a quarter tadacip before a big date. Knowing I've got chemical backup increases my confidence in addition to my bedroom abilities, a one-two punch that can turn a potential nightmare into a great date.

Real quick - just a remainder that rewiring of the dopamine receptors takes years. I have been at it since 2011 and still have issues. Isaac Jordan has been fighting it since 2013. This shit takes time.

Someone on YBOP posted a great line that I always think of: "years of conditioning cannot be undone in a mere few weeks." I think about this whenever I think about game, porn, masculinity, the list goes on...

Tell us a about the challenges you faced and how you overcame them.

These are the usual things I do (and did) to overcome my porn addiction:

- Deleted my porn stash from my laptop, USB sticks and external hard drives. I need to delete the stash that I have saved on cloud storage accounts like Dropbox, iCloud and Google Drive, but I haven't done this because I don't have time to delete those pics.
- Deleted my browsers' cache (I use Chrome and Firefox), browsing history and bookmarks with suggestive pics.
- I'm using positive self-talk and self affirmations to make easier the battle. My usual self-talk is: I prefer to be with a cutie girl than jerking off with porn; I have more to lose if I open porn websites. Also I'm using a very useful affirmation posted here by Isaac Jordan: don't touch your dick.
- I'm replacing my porn habits with other useful habits like learning a third language, taking naps, spending quality time with my family and friends and other useful habits.
- I'm slowly getting rid from sugar, dairy products and processed foods to regain my energy levels in a natural way.
- I have my laptop in the living room and I use it only for making basic things like checking this forum, checking the e-mail, logging on a corporate intranet for job related issues and using Word to write job reports.
- When I'm with a girl, I do a lot of foreplay before sex to speed the rewire.

I haven't installed porn blockers on my cellphone and laptop because I feel very tempted to uninstall them and the probability of having porn relapse is very high for me. Another important thing to make the rewiring successful is adopting a positive mindset even if you have relapses. Some guys feel like shit when they relapse but in my case I usually say "Well, if I relapse, It's a great opportunity to learn from the experience and I must find what was the problem that triggered the relapse".

By the way, I don't consider myself fully healed. I've made progress regarding this addiction but the struggle hasn't ended yet.

I recommend everyone state what your goal streak is whenever posting your reset.

Some guys are doing NoFap, NoPorn, hard mode, there are tons of challenges. The level of abstinence depends on how deeply afflicted you are, and we all have different goals.

There's always the question "is looking at softcore porn OK? What about the 10 thread? What about sex?" There is no answer, you make your own challenge.

I am taking a new approach, I used to avoid jerking off as much as possible, but would sneak in some porn frequently. I'm going 180 days NoPorn, even if this means fapping once every week or so (even though I'll try not to). No porn videos at all, minimal softcore stuff, only nudes sent from girls if necessary.

Day 14. Had a wet dream last night. Felt pretty weird this morning. It's only been a week since my last bang. Fighting hard to stay on course. Every once in a while I get the temptation to look at some pron just get a little bit of a dopamine high. Then I remind myself that that's the fastest way to derail the progress. Looking to make it to day 30. Excellent tips Dr. Cotard.

I relapsed hard today so its day 0 again for me, I ended at day 3 like usually in past few months.

-My current goal is to make it to whole week regular and then again more and more time. ATM those 3 days is success to me, because before I used to wank daily or even multiple time in a day.
-Currently the main issue I face is huge horniness, everytime I relapse it is usually in the morning and in the evening I feel horny as hell again, still manageable tho. Then next day I get very real daydream about every 6+ chick I see on streets when I imagine me taking her hard asap.
-Next day I start feeling real physical pain in balls and terrible urge to fuck which usually forces me next day to wank, still most of the time I don`t use porn but photos of my exes and random chicks I got nudes from.

So thats that why I gave up no fap challenge, ATM it is hard enough to withstand even one week, less possible to endure more. Also apart from what I wrote that horniness must be because of my very long dry spell. But I feel so unsecure about myself due to my terrible overweight that I wont even hire a prostitute, but that is for another thread.

This time I will try to endure whole week without wank and porn. I have to.

Anyone experience the mindfucks (no pun intended) when you abstain for 3-4 weeks? I get the morning wood and my mind just reintroduces sex over and over. I'm wondering if this changes at all as you go towards 40+ days

It seems there is such a buildup that all you can think about is boning. It probably never goes away you just learn to deal with it, lol

There's sort of a bell curve to horniness. At first you reap the benefits of increased energy/aggression, better focus, deeper sleep, etc.

But after a point (~7 days for me) the negatives start to outweigh the positives. I'm restless, quicker to anger, and find it difficult to concentrate on work. The increased thirst also drives me to approach/fuck girls that I'd normally consider beneath my standards.

This is one of the reasons that, after my first 90 days of pure NF/NP, I implemented a single weekly no-external-stimulation-purely-from-memory Sunday night fap. Only for when I'm not getting laid, of course. It helps to keep me in that sweet spot of the curve.

Day 15 guys. I feel like I am more of a man, a real man, a man who lives in real life rather than behind his computer. We can do this guys!

RE: NoPorn / NoFap Google Group - For Those Who're Serious - Speculation - 06-20-2016 06:38 AM

Day 23

Things are a bit better, but I had a rough couple of days.

After no alcohol for a few months I had 3 glasses of wine on a night out, thinking it would be no big deal. Ended up with 2 days of anxiety.

On the second day (today) I got really horny and I've had to fight off fantasies all day. Glamour girls on Tinder are setting me off.

I used to use PMO as a coping tool to deal with alcohol induced anxiety, but I can't do that now. Looks like I'll have to give up alcohol too. Damn.

I'm hoping a good night's sleep will sort this out.

On the bright side I'm doing much better with girls due to calmness and also the 'Shallow Hal' effect.

Restarting. I managed 11 days before a relapse. Allowed my self 3 days to bring a start of the week. Aiming for the rest of this month.

RE: NoPorn / NoFap Google Group - For Those Who're Serious - JohannesAusPrag - 06-21-2016 06:35 AM

It`s day 1 again for me, I relapsed yesterday. I was simply too horny to not open my memorised (I dont even need to bookmark it) camwhore page with link directly to one I used to jack off very often. I could prevent it but when I realised that I again submitted to my low will then my state of mind took over to stop.
Anyway not a success but an improvement from my regular 3 days.

I am still aiming for at least one week, preferably 10 days or longer.

What changes did you notice, if any, after 90?

Anyone ever attempt legit kegel control, or is any edging (no visuals) also just ... bad?

The biggest changes actually started to occur around Day 70.

The flatline lessened, I started getting consistent morning wood again, I'd have random erections throughout the day (like, completely random-it reminded me of puberty), I'd get hard just looking at a cute girl even if she was fully dressed...it felt like the storm had passed and I was back to where a man ought to be.

I only mentioned 90 days in my previous post because that had been my initial goal. If I hadn't experienced the benefits I just listed before that, I would have kept the streak going until they occurred.

Quote:Anyone ever attempt legit kegel control, or is any edging (no visuals) also just ... bad?

I've never tried kegels or edging. Any excess time spent playing around with my junk just increases my likelihood of a relapse.

From what I've read off YourBrainOnPorn and similar sources, the overwhelming visual stimulation is the real problem.

Every time you expose your brain to the massive stimulation that is modern porn, you unleash a flood of dopamine into the brain, which responds in turn by parring off dopamine receptors in order to protect against future excessive exposures. This negative feedback loop is why you constantly need more of an addictive substance (in this case, more/weirder porn) to achieve the same high.

This is why I don't worry about fapping so much as porn-watching. But others with some experience in this area should definitely chime in, I'm just theorizing over here.

RE: NoPorn / NoFap Google Group - For Those Who're Serious - tomzestatlu - 06-21-2016 02:52 PM

I stopped watching porn few weeks ago. I don´t fap from 5 to 7 days and I think it´s not necessary keep it longer. I really enjoy impact. I am more focused on everything. Even though my mind and body feels like not doing anything, some inner power forces me to do anything without problem.

I really look forward to see long-term results on my sexual life.

Made it a bit over a month before relapsing, day 1 again. Shooting for 2.5 months this time.

Do you think that M compared to sex also conditions you in a way that your body is less likely to understand the cues and stimulus?

It seems a lot of guys have reached the conclusion (not being addicts) that it's hard to distinguish anxiety VS being used to M as opposed to real interaction VS ever looking at images or videos

I'm leaving the caffeine behind too.

Update: 2 Months. No Porn, No Fap, No Caffeine, No Alcohol, No Drugs.

I feel energized and less sleepy around the day. Also the brain fog is almost gone. Consistent morning wood.
Can't contribute it to no porn or to no caffeine, maybe it's the combination of both.

Still being in the well know flatline.

I definetly recommend to leave the caffeine behind too. Good luck guys!

Joining the challange! day 0.5 here. My record was 14 days and fuck everything was good then, even the music sounded better!
Re-reading Changing for Good by Prochaska, if u have spare cash it's good.
The best advice on there is to control the environment you are in at all times. basically you can't rely on fighting the urges on willpower alone, but you must put yourself in an environment where it is difficult for you to relapse.
For example it's easier to fap alone in your room, it is harder to do it in a room full of people or the library.
It is easy to fap if you are near your laptop, it is harder if it is in another room, you get the point. DrCotard gave similar good advices back in this thread.
let's do it.

What's so bad about caffeine? It's a staple for my workouts.
