Ain't nothing wrong with being 'in it for the money', so to speak.

If the attitude was, "Bitcoin is overpriced at he moment, i believe its true value is around 20USD" I would get it.

But wanting new technology die to earn some money?

Being 'in it for the money' is imo wrong in many situation, "I stock up on military technology, just hope a war breaks out"
"Stock up on water cleaning technology, just hope for a major natural disaster"

The problem with bitcoin atm is it is just speculation. What we need are more people wanting to create services around the technology.

This is why i just started learning web development, there are so many open markets atm.

lol that's a cool story and all, but the people that actually believe in it long term will just hold their coins. no one is forcing them to sell it.

without sellers, there wouldn't be people shorting it. you might as well try making some money while everyone else is doing so

Just got myself a BTC wallet.

I think I'll buy a couple, just for fun, but they seem to be too overpriced ATM ($95 right now) to be a good investment. The train has passed, unless someone can persuade me otherwise.

@NY Digital,

Why are you so sure?

@Pete,

It was at $55 a day ago. I was going to buy some then, but couldn't get the transaction through for some reason. It's since gone up to $90, so I'm wondering if I should wait for it to drop again or buy it now after all.

Real money is in opening an exchange.

mtgox.com have a volume of almost 300 000BTC/24 hours

From what I've heard they charge 1% handling fee(0.5% from buyer and seller)

100usd/BTC*300 000BTC/24hour*1% = 300 000USD/24hours

I have to wait. Still haven't gotten my money on Dwolla. Started the transfer last sunday and they already had the money withdrawn from my bank on tuesday. Still nothing.

But I'll wait. I noticed sometimes late night prices drop.

Though http://www.mtgox.com is down right now :/

Hmm if you want to play it safe just hold. It's coming to come to Mt. Gox eventually. They announced in their DDOS pdf that it's coming soon. Hence the recent excitement.

ahh, the trollbox Smile

Hope the chinese can bring some volume to this price.

bitcointalk.org[/quote Wrote:]in last 7 days bitcoinqt has been down loaded in china 24,000 times

20,000 of those were in May...

10,000 of those were yesterday...

8,000 have been in the last 9 hours

this data is 7 hours old..

For comparison, in the same time China did 8,000 downloads, 2nd place (USA) did 700.

Prepare for the chinese bubble. With the size of their underground banking system it is going to be a lot more veracious imo.

How trustworthy would you say BTC-E is? I won't throw real money at this because I think it can just disappear. I'm in for 500 but can seem to be able to rationalize putting more

I don't know about btc-e. But in general the security people tells you to store your coins in an offline wallet.

If you store them in an online wallet, be very careful about the system you are accessing your coins on. Don't use internet cafe, software that's not trusted. In fact the best option is have a separate partition with a linux distribution. This way you limit the risk that you have installed software that try sniff your password for your online wallet.

I had an email from my online wallet service that someone was trying to access my account. Lucky they did not manage to hack my password(which should be 20+ characters)
