I was 23-25 when I was volunteering. That generally tends to be the age demographic you'll see (the oldest in our group was 33). However you can see people up into their 60s volunteering. Mad props to them

Don't quote me on this, but I don't think a misdemeanor disqualifies you. Just make sure you are honest on the application.

Peace Corps allows you to choose the country you would want to volunteer in. Though location inside the country is up to the discretion of the in-country staff, yet you do have a little input on geographical preferences.

I also spent some time hanging out with the returned volunteers. You'll meet some really cool people among them. And they are happy to talk to prospects.

One person also said to make sure you have prescription sunglasses if you need glasses.

Back in the 1970's, they had a slogan on their ads. It was: "Peace Corps.... the toughest job you'll ever love."

That still is the official or unofficial motto!
