Six years before he began training MMA. In contrast, Jeff Horn and Anthony Joshua started boxing in their late teens.

Despite the fact that Conor wouldn't have been putting in the same boxing hours as a Mixed Martial Artist, he would still be doing at least an hour daily. Without factoring in any cross over skills from his other stand-up disciplines, Conor would have a similar amount of pure boxing hours as a Jeff Horn or Anthony Joshua.

As I said, he should lose, but the 0-0 boxing record is less relevant than the MSM play up.

I think you guys are too lentient with his boxing acumen. As good as Anthony Joshua?

Huh

Watch Anthony Joshua taking on Klisctzcho or sparring and then watch Mcgregor sparring and tell me that you think Mcgregor is in the same league. NO way. To get to the level of Joshua you need to be training against guys near the level of klitscho for years. I don't think Mcgregor's been training at that level of boxing. I just don't see it.

Mcgregor is flat-footed and twitchy in a way that only a non-boxer is in the ring. Guys like Joshua, Pacquio and Mayweather are so much more fluid since their only job is to move and punch.

You guys are giving McGregor way too much credit. I get it, He's cool, but he's not a world-class boxer on the level of Joshua, Canelo or Mayweather.

As good as? No. Who said that? He has similar years of experience. The point being that the boxing establishment, and mainstream sports are playing this up as the worlds biggest mismatch when it's anything but.

Floyd wins 99% of the time, but the reason why this will sell PPV's is that there is just enough 'plausibility' that Conor can do something. Will he? No, probably not, but there's a pathway to victory for Conor if the stars align.

The other issue with most mainstream sports media is that there is a total ignorance to the sport of MMA, to the point where they lead the viewer to believe the sports of boxing and MMA are like chalk and cheese [Most still think of UFC 1]. There's considerable cross-over.
