MMA is practically a middle class sport. Throw in the amount of time you spend cuddling during training, and the amount of punishment you have to take as an MMA fighter is hugely less than most amateur boxers endure week in, week out, up and down the country.

Connor is a good fighter, and a tough guy, but anyone who thinks he has this mystical MMA toughness that boxers don't have is dreaming.

Respectfully, this is only true for the casual/amateur level fighters. MMA fighters at the highest level are still recruited/a by product of individual disciplines. I.E: Specialised kick boxers, Specialised karateka's, Specialised wrestlers, Specialised judoka's, Specialised BJJ players. Those who train a well rounded MMA game from a young age will always be, IMO less dangerous as a fighter.

Re: The toughest. Yeah. It's a non-issue. Once you're in the ring/cage - You're tough, and only going down when you're physically forced to... Being able to take a knee has no bearing on being able to take a punch. If a punch rocks you, it rocks you. In fact, if a fighter had taken a bunch of knees and head kicks, their chin would be weaker.

I also think boxers do take more punishment during the week, but IMO it's because the sport is stone age in their methodology. They still do a lot of things in training, not because it's best, but because that's what they've always done.

Hours of pad work with combinations they'll never throw, excess sparring making them punch drunk long before they should be, doing 10 mile runs training an energy system they'll never reach in a fight etc.
