Panama used to be a part of Colombia, so I wouldn't be surprised if the women were similar.

Actually, the women are not similar at all. There is even an old local saying in Panama that goes like this:

"See a cute girl, and she is no doubt, Panamanian. See a very beautiful girl, and she is no doubt, Colombian".

Have been to both places, not an expert on either but thought they behaved similarly. Colombians seem to have a better sense of humor. I think they change that saying to: see a hooker and she is no doubt a Colombian. Panamanians HATE Colombians.

RE: Review of Medellin, Colombia
Panama girls are disgusting compared to Colombians.

Almost of the beautiful women in Panama City are Colombian hookers.

I suspect the reason why Panama girls are ugly is because of the Canal. To build the Canal, tens of thousands of immigrants came to Panama primarily from the West Indies (afro-Caribbean). This mix with indig people created an ugly brew with particularly bad bodies.

In the highlands of Panama the genetic makeup is different with more Alpine immigration (German, Italian and probably Poland)

Lol! That is the funniest explanation I've read to explain the ugliness if Panamanian women when compared to Colombian women!

Sooooo true!

Peru is the gringo capital of South America simply because it has South Americas biggest attraction - Machu Picchu.

f colombian girls in the states and its funny you mention the "hand on the hip" tactic while asking a quick question or giving a quick compliment. They see that as affection and if she thinks you are attractive, she will chase.

I'm staying at a condo building in El Poblado. My buddy and I got a 3 bedroom furnished condo with great view and nice pool area. I've got a full kitchen also so I'll try the "cooking" routine. Is it that easy to just ask them to cook for you? Do they actually enjoy doing that?

I am a good looking and physically fit guy in my early 30's. Although I'm nervous as to how I will be perceived, I'm guessing I should be fine. My friend has the impression that we have to go to clubs, drop some serious money and draw attention. I told him that is the total opposite of what we should do or we'd have the mafiosos all over us! Thanks for the read. Describe the girls you guys hung out with on a scale from 1-10. I can't imagine anyone being a 5 or less except the fat sister. HAHA. Yup just tell them you're dying to try "Bandeja Paisa" even if you've had it every night so far. In my experience, they love to cook even for a strange gringo!

RE: Review of Medellin, Colombia
I'm digging this thread back up. Great review gringoed, sounds like you had a good time. This was my favorite of the Medellin reviews I read since you gave me some ideas of where I should go.

I haven't been on the forum in a while, the last 6 months of my life have been pretty crazy. I was working 2 jobs and stacking paper to get me here. I started what I thought was a pretty serious relationship, but ended up telling the girl to get fucked and I was going to Colombia instead of Europe. In any case, it's good to be back...

My situation: I just arrived last night. I don't know anyone here and I'm rollin' solo. I met a couple cats at the airport last night that seemed pretty cool, which I will probably meet up with tomorrow. My friends husband lives out here and is local (they are currently in the process of getting divorced, but for logistic reasons, still good friends). She gave me a little bag of gifts to give to him and told me to hit him up. She "warned" me that he is wild and likes to do crazy things, sounds like my kind of guy. I also have some friends from MIA that have told me to hit them up if I want to meet up with some of their cousins. That's a possibility because those friends know how to have a good time.

I'm staying in Poblado, mainly because I wanted to stay in a nice area considering I'm here solo and don't know a damn thing about the country. My evaluation so far is that Parque Lleras is the obvious place that a lot of gringos hang out. It seems like it could be a decent place to meet people and possibly day game. So far though my last two night scoping the place out, it's been dead. That surprises me considering the fact right now should be break time for Colombian schools. One thing though is I may have gone too early (Arrived around 8 left around 10). I had a long red eye flight that I hardly got any sleep on, so last night I didn't plan on going out late. Tonight I realized I had my card on me while I was there, and am sketched out about having my card on me since its the only way I can get cash, so I rolled home early and grabbed a case of beers (Though especially in this neighborhood, the safety seems MUCH better here than where I was in Brazil). I'm staying in a pretty sweet pad. Not anything special, but great view (Which I'll try and post bellow) and it's an apartment which i have my own private room. I have two roomates, one is a weird old lady (Thanks airbnb) and the other an old dude but he's cool and seems like he has a roladex of decent looking colombian women at his disposal.

There are lots of Medellin threads on the forum, but I don't see many run downs on where to go and what to do. They are mostly observations, which I did enjoy reading and greatly appreciated, but I need to know where to go. I did get some ideas off this thread, but tell me, where do I want to be? I was in centro earlier and it was PACKED! There was some nice talent walking around, seems like it could be a good day game spot. What about good places to go out at night. Parque Lleras seemed like the typical gringo hang out, which I'm trying to get away from. The food was good, but I want to see what's up off the beaten path. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. I want to check out Universidad de Antioquia, Barrio Colombia, and Babylon, as gringoed praised them. Where else can I go though?

Some observations I've made after my first 48 hours:

The women- The women are beautiful, though so far from what I've seen, doesn't compete with my favorite spots in Brazil, and not up to par with Miami either, but still better than most places. I definitely got more eye contact in Brazil, but less in Miami than I do here in Medellin. The women seem fairly open, but not too forward either.

My Spanish is just about the level I thought- I can carry on conversation alright, I can communicate most of what I want, but sometimes it's hard for me to understand what people are trying to tell me. It's somewhat easier to speak because I know what I want to say, but when trying to listen, people throw out words that aren't familiar to me. I would understand them if they used different words, but that's just not how it goes. Time for me to work on my vocab. But I look at other gringos I met and am happy I know what I do. 80% of my Spanish is from the Portuguese I know, the other 20% is from the Cubanos I worked with in Miami. Most people complain about their co-workers not knowing English. I say, "Thank you Debora and Dalia for not knowing English and letting me tease you about being a 'bruja' with your 'escoba' every day at work." I realize though, I've found myself a little shy to approach in Spanish, which I need to get over. I know I'll make many mistakes, which is just something I'll have to deal with until I get my Spanish on par. I can't let it hold me back.

Traveling solo is much harder than traveling with friends (Duh!)- My only other real Latin American trip was Brazil and I was hooked up. Hung out with only locals. It made things real easy. My first day I was thinking, "Holy shit dude, this is gonna be much harder than I thought." But then today I thought, "Quit being a pussy. Yeah it's gonna be hard, so what?! Anything worth doing or having or learning in life is gonna be hard, deal with it!" I bought a phone and tried calling my friend on a land line. Turns out the prefix for dial land lines and cel lines is different. I had to go back to the place I purchased my credits to find this out. Even the simplest things you may think are easy at home can be a headache somewhere else.

Holy shit a lot of girngos come here trying to get laid!- Not that I've met a lot of people, but 4 people on my plane alone basically told me that's what they were here for, and another was from Canada married to a Colombian girl. 2 of them seemed like cool dudes, probably in their mid 30's. One was Colombian/ American, but was his first time coming to Colombia. His friend had been a couple times and had a Colombian girlfriend. Both were decent looking Latin/American dudes who seemed to have decent game and upbeat personalities. I got their contacts and should be meeting up with them in the next couple days. The other 2 I got a creeper vibe from, which were also the two I caught a cab with from the airport (Made it cheaper). They gave me the impression that the average gringo out here looking to bang the locals was no competition. I'm feeling if you dress nice and have a little style and decent looks mixed with a little bit of game and spanish, it shouldn't be too hard.

It's not cheap!- I suspect that's because I'm in Poblado, but still! Even the market is almost as expensive as the US. Even coming from expensive places in the US, many restaurant and even the market is close to as expensive here as in the US! I read in Mixx's thread, G wrote something to the extent, "I'll bet Fargo, ND is cheaper than Medellin." There is no doubt in my mind! Some things are cheaper, but for the most part, you should plan on spending just about the same as you would in the US. Take $10-20 off your daily budget where you live (if you live in an average city) and it will probably be about what you'd spend here. Though drinks are quit a bit cheaper. Especially if you are coming from Miami where you are paying $20 for a drink at the club. Here it seems like an expensive drink is $5, but most are cheaper, more like $2-4 range even in Parque Lleras. Taxis are also cheap. A $20 ride in Miami will cost you $5 here.

The Weather- Is awesome! A little hot during the day. At night it's perfect. I have no a/c in my pad, but it's not really needed. A small fan with the window open does the trick. Also the scenery is amazing!

Nightlife- I'm still pretty much clueless, help me!

Well, that pretty much wraps up my first two days. I know I already wrote a book, but there is much more to come. I'll keep you guys posted. But in the mean time, give me some ideas! Where do I want to go. I already caught a bit of the gist from some of these posts on how to handle the local women, but there isn't too much on where to meet them. Any info will be much appreciated!

This is the view from my pad, took this pic last night... Not bad. The place is pretty basic if you lived in the states, but I have a feeling it's pretty nice for a place in Medellin. I got 46 likes on facebook, must be doing something right Wink

I also often roll solo. How do u find friends to go out and hang out with? I met some dudes from hostel when I was in Cali but in the other places, rio, sp, Lima, I didn't find any other people to go out with. Didn't feel very good rolling solo, especially my Spanish wasn't that good to approach.

RE: Review of Medellin, Colombia
I have my apartment booked for 2 weeks. I'm gonna play it by ear. If I really like it I'll stay longer. I have a friend in Cartegena that I may go visit. One of my best friends has been living in Lima for the last year and a half, thinking about visiting him if I can find a plane ticket under $600. Anyone know any good sites I could use traveling from Colombia to Peru? All the tickets I find are way too expensive.

alright cool...for some reason traveling within LA is really expensive. I remember roosh posting some method for finding tickets for these kind of flights but can't remember in what post. try searching around. I loved the food in Peru but found it difficult to find enough cute girls to hit on. I still have no idea how that rick91 guy did it unless he was banging a lot of busted chicks.

RE: Review of Medellin, Colombia
I live here so here are some tips to address some of your concerns and make your stay more enjoyable.

Spanish - absolutely necessary. While everyone takes English as a requirement, no one learns it. In Medellin they have their own particular accent and regional vocabulary, so it would be good to have a local explain those common words to you first, then you'll be able to understand it better. Here are two common phrases you'll here.

-Que mas pues or hola que mas? To which you respond 'Bien o no? Thats pretty much an informal way of saying whats up. Some girls will address you with Que Mas, just so you know that's just another way of saying hola.

-Sometimes they'll ask you 'Si Estas Amañado?'. Taxi guys ask that a lot, since it'll probably be obvious you're not from here. They're just asking if you like the city. Just say Si. Don't ask a taxi guy where to have a good time unless you want them to take you to a whore house.

If a girl likes you she'll take the time to understand you so don't worry about being perfect.

Gringos getting laid - Years ago it was a mix of foreigners coming to game pussy and pay for pussy, but now there are so many paying that many girls assume you're paying and won't hesitate to charge. With time you can spot those a mile away. The poorer a girl the more likely she will make that assumption. As always there are exceptions, but from my experience, a good rule of thumb, especially in Lleras, that's full of gringo hunters. When you walk around Lleras you'll know what foreigner is gaming and who has his girl on the clock. Personally, I think to each his own.

Prices - Poblado is probably the safest and highest end neighborhood in Medellin. However, i'm from nyc, so I know Medellin is definitely cheaper. Depends on where you go and how you spend your money. Either way you are right, some things are on par with U.S. prices. Assuming you're in Poblado, you either have a Carulla or Carrefour close by for food shopping. If you're staying for a while and want to save a bit, there is the Mercado Mayorista where you can save some bucks on veggies and meat.

If shopping for clothes don't bother in the malls. They are expensive. You can get cheap good quality knockoffs in the center. I usually just bring clothes from the states so I don't know of any particular store but usually in the hueco in the center which is San Antonio stop on the metrocable. Don't flaunt your smart phone and keep your money in your front pockets. Be alert and keep just go during the day and you'll be fine.

If eating out for yourself Carulla has some meals that go for anywhere from 5 to 7 dollars. You can get sirloin steak in some 'fast food' spots in the malls for about 12 dollars. For cocktails I stick to Thaico in lleras. You get three cocktails for 11 dollars at most. They also have two for one meals before 6 or 7, not sure about that one. Most of lleras has 30 percent discounts before seven, meaning you can go out on a date for about 60-70 thousand pesos, which is around 35-40 bucks total. If you don't mind rice and beans you'll find places that have 'menu ejecutivos' . Oviedo has places that have them for five bucks, but the further from poblado you'll get as cheap as 2.50.

Ladies - Daygame is key. Going out at night to pick up girls is just not as efficient.

There is no particular spot. They are everywhere. All the malls. in Poblado you have Santa Fe and Oviedo. Rio Sur is much more a lounge spot at night. You also have Mayorca in Sabaneta and Premium Plaza and San Diego further north and Tesoro up the hill. None of these are more than 4 dollars in a cab. During the week the best times are during lunch and right after work. The bus stops and the area from San Fernando to Oviedo is full of attractive professional women from 12-2 and after 5. Riding the metro you'll always bump into a gem. The key here is attack.

Talk to as many girls as possible. Out of ten numbers maybe four will respond and two actually show up. All girls have boyfriends or someone they're messing with so don't take the flaking personal.

Just take them on a date and if you can't close that night have them come over and cook you something. The longer you take the more likely she'll end up somewhere else.

If you can join a gym. They are expensive, but you'll see many girls, especially in the mornings. There's a forma in envigado and bodytech in premium plaza. There are bodytechs closer but they are more expensive and have less girls. Eafit, one of the more expensive universities also has a gym.

Night Spots:

This is tricky. Everything here is a fad, so it evolves with time . Sometimes it's also based on the season and payday confluence. Being that school should be starting soon I expect either this weekend or the next to be one of the better ones.

Friday and Saturday almost anywhere in Barrio Colombia or Lleras are packed. If i had to go out a certain day of the week, here are a list of places:

Monday - La oficina. A little bar on calle 10 near lleras. it literally has a sign of the Godfather on it.

Tuesday - Eslabon Perdido - Thats a salsa spot in the center. Nothing fancy but the only thing I know going on on a Tuesday. Here the girls that listen to old salsa usually are into rock and reggae as well, so they'll be more on the gringo hunter hippy side. It gets packed early and there is an 8 thousand peso cover.

Wednesday - I like to go out on dates on Tues or Wed, but if not, i'll stop by chupitos in lleras. it's a shot spot where for whatever reason has awesome looking girls there on Wed, Thurs, and Sundays, usually from 8 on. This isn't a given, its just sometimes. Avg shots are 5 thousand pesos, and the expensive ones are 12 thousand. It's free so never hurts to just check out. Later on B lounge is the only spot that ever gets packed. Its further up on ten, i think cra 34 or 35, not sure. its near tiger paw hostel. Thats 20k to get in, but there's some talent there. Usually a mix of prepago/trifling looking girls, but you're on vacation, so it's all good.

Thursday - Babylon used to be my spot. It died down but I went there recently and had a good time. Gets packed early. Its located in Lleras around the corner from Tropical Cocktail. It's 30k open bar for guys and 12k for girls. If in a group you can literally spend 70k pesos and roll in with three girls and drink all night, well technically till 1. If you go by yourself its all good, you'll find lots of bangable 6s - 8s . Most of the time they're in groups, but sometimes they do roll in just girl groups. I personally prefer to go out with girls, because it allows me to mix with other groups, and worse comes to worse I have backup.

Friday and Saturday - Anywhere. Barrio Colombia is fickle but probably best on a Saturday night. Lleras is full of small clubs, but the shot spots get packed. In the early afternoon like around 5 sometimes people go to Thaico. You can pick up in there.

Sunday Nights - They used to be awesome in Barrio Colombia but not too sure anymore. Luxury is a good failsafe spot. Usually full of prepagoish/trifling girls. With time you'll understand what I mean.

Other notes - Clubs close from 3-4 in Medellin. There are three main after hour spot areas. Palmahia is a huge club in itagui on the regional. Outside it has about 5-6 small lounges/clubs. it used to be the main spot but I believe it's died down.

Fahrenheit is a bit further down. It's a huge club that after 4 becomes prepaid girl heaven. Its about 20-30k to get in. If you go before 1 its usually open bar and you can meet somewhat attractive girls. The really hot ones come in late, but they're definitely not by themselves and a large part will try to charge you, especially if you look foreign.
The third spot is VIP, but don't go there. it can get really hood.

When shopping on the street always haggle. They'll always start off with the gringo tax. Except for gum and cigarettes, that's cheap

Almost forgot, there's a section called 33. On Thursdays and Sundays, many spots are open bar for ladies, so lots of girls. Lots of 5s and 6s in my opinion. Those spots you should be more careful. The establishment will try to charge you more for liquor and bitches will try to put something in your drink to rob you. Having said that, there is still opportunity to have a good time.

I hope that gives you some direction as to how to approach Medellin. Hopefully you'll enjoy your stay and have much more info when it's all said and done.

+1 Great info. I saw a couple of the spots you mentioned. I walked by Babylon today, it has Tony Montana painted on the wall, looked like a cool spot. LMK if you want to meet up at some point, I'm here at least another week and a half. I'm thinking about going to Parque Tyrona and maybe head to the coast for a couple days after my stay at my apartment runs out. You ever visit Parque Tyrona? I've had a few people tell me I need to check it out.

RE: Review of Medellin, Colombia
The two downfalls to renting an apartment through airbnb is 1. If you rent an apartment with multiple rooms, which is going to be cheaper, don't be surprised if you're stuck with some old people. You guys ever see Dolores Claiborne? Yeah, she's one of my room mates, minus the crazy killer persona. And 2. It makes it a little harder to meet people as opposed to a hostel. But fuck that, I'll choose an apartment with Dolores Claiborne any day of the week over dorming with 3 other dudes in one room. I stayed in a hostel in Miami for my first two days and decided I would never do that again.

One other thing I think everyone should be aware of here is scopalamine. This shit is really fucked up, probably the worst stuff on earth. I'm not trying to scare anyone, I'm sure it probably won't happen to you, but I just think you should be aware of it. I would also recommend staying away from strip clubs (Which are really whore houses anyways). This should be obvious but DO NOT leave your drink unattended or accept drinks from strangers. Check out this video if you don't know what scopalamine is..... http://www.vice.com/vice-news/colombian-...ath-1-of-2 The Drug dealer in the video cracks me the fuck up.
Has anyone else heard of this stuff or know of anyone that has been dosed?

thing is if I got my own pad it would make my trip much shorter. To be honest, Dolores Claiborne pretty much stays in her room and keeps the door shut. I don't even know what she's doing here. It seems like she just chills in her room all day long, which she could do anywhere in the world. The other dude is actually a real cool cat. He's probably in his 50's and he's a professional poker player. I've been here two nights and he's had two different girls over, and homie doesn't speak a lick of Spanish. Seems like an OG. He's hardly ever here though.

Most definitely. I have this apartment rented until the 22nd I think. There's a decent chance I'll extend though if I like it here. So far so good, I just don't know anyone.

What's your business? You have to really get yourself out there every day and game everyone. Find everything you can on groups, organizations, meetups, etc...everything! This can also be a lot of fun and gives you another daily routine thing that doesn't involve women (directly anyway).

RE: Review of Medellin, Colombia
Now then. Give it to the weekend. This is common. Guys arrive mid-week and disenchanted. By the end of the weekend, their eyes have busted out of their sockets!

Unfortunately, the other thing to bear in mind is time of year. The city empties out on December 7th and fills back up on feb 7th. Like clockwork

All the girls are at the moment in Cartagena, Miami or Europe , depending on bankroll.

You will be seeing a lot if tourists at the moment. Those Chiva buses playing cheesy tunes? Nowhere to be seen during term time.

Ditto re prices. It's not gringo tax it,s now tourist tax tax. Try bartering coach tickets right now. Before they would bend over backwards with haggling, now they will laugh in your face and tell you to jig on.

Get on the metro and pound the pavement is my best advise, the rewards are there to be had

But if you can, make rapid moves to Cartagena. Don't want to hit it too late.

Picture the scene, the hottest girls from bogota and medellin. With even less clothes on. In holiday mood. Even more hornier then usual

I love Colombia. This place has been really really good to me

I am no gentleman

Good tips.

Can you break down which cities in Colombia are the best for each months?
