Anyone else think the fact that intellectuals/rationals (NT) make up only 1/10th of the population explains a lot about how fucked up the world is?

1) I don't think the world is fucked up. 2) I've noticed a tendency for "rare" types to insinuate that the world would be a better place if there were more of their type or subset. I don't think so. A whole new host of problems would arise.

Unrelated question: I believe that MB type is decided at birth and linked to genetics. If so, does that mean that the rare types are not/have not been well suited to passing on genes?

ENTP: Sirius Black on the Harry Potter chart.

Only a true ENTP would be proud of being an ENTP.

Jim Morrison was probably an ENTP.

Very likely. I think we can all agree that being an introspective hyper rational isn't conducive to getting laid.

RE: What's Your Myers-Briggs Personality?
I'm an INTJ though I am consistently near 50/50 split between an ENTJ. I know I'm an INTJ that has strong extroversion tendencies now, but it's been a long process coming. Knowing what I am makes it easier to work with it and overcome it. My Euro trip in July will be a big self-discovery/extroverted trip that I think will allow me to lock in some of my extroverted tendencies in order to use them domestically. The benefit to being INTJ is that it's hard to out plan you, so I can take that and use it for logistics, and creating scenarios that are easier for me to succeed in.

RE: What's Your Myers-Briggs Personality?
Every time I do this, I get INTJ. It's very strong. At the risk of sounding like a Myers-Briggs troll, fuck it... being an INTJ is pretty freakin horrible when it comes to game.

From 16personalities:

Quote:INTJ personalities are likely to have significant difficulties when it comes to relationships and dating. ...

It is also likely that “he/she must be rational” will be at the top of their list of criteria—and this is exactly what usually holds the INTJ back, especially if they are male. There are certain rules (e.g., do not appear too interested) and types of behavior (e.g., a girl should not start the conversation) that a person interested in finding a dating partner is expected to follow, and unfortunately for INTJs, the majority of people will follow those rules. ... INTJs are likely to get quite disappointed after the first few attempts at dating and may even start thinking that everybody else is either irrational or intellectually inferior.

Literally everything on that page is perfectly spot on with me, but this is the most relevant aspect to game. I've been characterized as arrogant before. What I've realized is game is all about approaching and putting yourself out there... the 'old lost man' routine to initiate pointless small talk is indeed genius, but it's something I distinctly despise. I just can't shake the thought that most people are not worth talking to. Does anyone else have this feeling, that most people are just an utter waste of time?

There's another side to this coin as well. Perhaps I can go the 'theatrical' route and see people as an 'audience,' as ENFP's (which is the most prevalent type on this thread), for example, tend to do. But I have to admit, the performative aspects of game are extremely frustrating to me. I understand it's possible, but I think the obstacles facing an INTJ are especially daunting.

RE: What's Your Myers-Briggs Personality?
I remember back in high school I was INTJ, in college I became INT/FP, ISTP as of 2013 and as of today:

ISFP on this test:

http://www.personalitytest.net/types/des.../isfp.html

and

ISTP on this test:

http://personalityjunkie.com/type-assess...-online/9/

Introversion seems the only reliable constant with me. I think I can muster the willpower to put on a show with socializing, but biochemically, I start to burn out and simply need that rest time, unless I'm pushing it with caffeine and alcohol, which help stretch out the daily approach #s.

The nature/nurture debate is interesting. I don't doubt there are genetic inclinations, but I think through work you can make your personality more malleable. It's a process that involves stretching your boundaries to take in new "reference experiences" to borrow from the RSD world.

For example I remember when I first learned about music (probably same with game), everything was extremely logical and pedantic. It was clusterfucked with theories and weird names for extinct Greek tribes and random Italian cities. Now I see it as "the thing that comes here and goes like this". It sounds like nonsense but it makes more sense than it did when I had the "right" word for it. You go from 'awkward' to 'natural'. Some people are great at making the awkward natural, ie being technically verbose yet down to earth.

Also it's not the end of the world to be an INTJ or "NT". Extraversion and sensation seem to be the norm in the USA but there are cultures who value introversion and intuition more (for example East Asian, North European). There have been instances where I've been described as quite sociable by bread and butter Americans, little do they know my introverted self is giggling on the inside.

tl;dr for the ESFPs: fuck it dude, let's go bowling.

After doing a bunch of work on mindfulness I also changed type. And I enjoy being social a lot more after becoming game-aware.

After someone told me that MB was pseudo psychology and gave a good explanation as to why, I discounted it.

Now I may rethink the validity of its accuracy and precision. My first time taking a Myers-Briggs in 2006: INFJ
My second time taking a different test just now: ENFJ

Lol arguably the only thing that has changed about me is extroversion through experience(impatience/boredom in routine interactions)

ENTJ with a weak E. Most, if not all, of the ENTJ descriptions fit for me. All of the INTJ descriptions, besides being Aspie, apply to me as well.

I'm a strong INTJ as well. Maybe that is why music production and hoops are much more important to me than getting my dick sat on by some dumb bitch. I know booze game is frowned upon by some, but I can only tolerate non-sense small talk after a couple drinks. I have no problem opening, but if I am sober I will eventually offend the prospect by pointing out how her beliefs take into account only one piece of a 1000 piece puzzle.

We are hyper-logical human beings, and it definitely puts a whole new spin on gaming women.

The questions are kind of vague so you have to picture something for each question...

When I read "social events" and "spending time with people" I imagined being at a party where I didn't know anyone too well. Everyone would be extroverted if they answered those questions while thinking of hanging out with their pack of best friends.

When I read about work and innovation I thought about my side hustle of music production. I deeply care about the end mix I send to clients. I totally disregarded my oil & gas day job because it is just boring shit that pays the bills.

Interesting that you said that because I tend to draw similar pictures in my head. Whenever I know that I'm being questioned about outgoing tendencies, I assume strangers. It can arouse some excitement in me, but apparently I still made the cut into extroversion even though I'm sure I fit in the borderline introvert area

I've been told by so many girls, and dudes, that I'm a LOT better to hang out with when I'm drunk. It's a great shortcut, because I completely stop giving a fuck.

Just had a revelation. I just gotta play this song in my head when I'm approaching:

Interesting article on why the Myers-Briggs test is bullshit :

http://www.vox.com/2014/7/15/5881947/mye...eaningless

Quote:It's 2014. Thousands of professional psychologists have evaluated the century-old Myers-Briggs, found it to be inaccurate and arbitrary, and devised better systems for evaluating personality. Let's stop using this outdated measure — which has about as much scientific validity as your astrological sign — and move on to something else.

Fuck these bs personality-type tests. I've been turned off by them ever since every self-absorbed OKC college twit started putting them in their dating profiles.

ENTJ or ESTJ. Sometimes I get one and sometimes the other, across multiple tests.

It doesn't surprise me. Those types are supposedly natural born leaders and I was taking charge of everything since I was a little kid. I think it's a great personality for game I have to say, because you naturally dominate your social interactions.

The rebuttal is quite interesting in that it makes a good case for taking these tests less seriously. The bit about the continuum / bell curve of traits is what I specifically refer to.

Depends on what you mean by "less seriously". I don't think it makes sense to pigeonhole people into careers based on type in the way that Corporate America would like.

On the other hand, MBTI and discovering my type was the greatest insight into myself in living memory.
