RE: Bangkok in April, Thoughts from the Bangkok Vets?
The last 2 days in Bangkok the heat has really picked up, it's hot and it's humid. Not nice to walk around in the daytime, when I head out in BKK in weather like this and the traffic is crazy it makes me dislike the city for a short while. It's only when I'm back out at night having a riot that I start loving it again.

Rolling suited down during the night shouldn't be a problem!

When I'm in Thailand at night I wear jeans and a nice shirt (e.g. Boss Orange or Matinique) with tucked up sleeves since short-sleeve shirts have no style IMHO. This set me apart from 90% of the tourists and I got complimented several times for my style.

Wearing a suit would be overkill at the tourist places, but should be ok in Bangkok.

Not a fan of them either and I can wear long sleeved here without it being overly warm.

My friend has a friend in BKK, so I have been talking to him about setting up my next adventure, he suggested this area for where to stay.... any thoughts from guys here on the board who live there?

"I would recommend the area at the west side of the golf, Hua Hin for instance. Clean place of high level, but reasonable prices."

It's a beach resort town 200km south of Bangkok better known for retirees than girls and parties.

I can't have sex with your personality, and I can't put my penis in your college degree, and I can't shove my fist in your childhood dreams, so why are you sharing all this information with me?

thanks, I will have to advise him that I am not an old bastard. Smile

EDIT: Which I just did.

I have found when I go to a country and plan on staying there an extended time, I like to find quality girls to hang out with etc... These types of girls are generally not found on websites. I have found social circle to be much more effective at the upper class and usually more attractive women. Anyone who lives or lived in BKK know the best way into these types of social circles? Usually I will befriend guys/girls at a up scale club/lounge, not hit on anyone and use that as a way of expanding my social circle, then basically go for the friends of the friends. Alternately I usually play the degree of separation game, and start asking around of my friends who may have friends in that place, this often works well, and many times I have been surprised by WHO had the close friends where I was traveling too.

thoughts? Thanks.

You could go to some of the nicer bars & clubs and befriend people there for sure, buy a bottle of whisky and ask strangers to join you. Thais love to share drinks.

Hey man,

This isn't really related to game, but to experiencing Thailand. One of my favorite experiences in Bangkok (I lived there for 3 months) was a weekly dinner the CouchSurfing people put on. It's cooked by this Thai lady who makes *amazing* food. There's usually 10 - 20 people, mostly travelers but a few Thais too. Usually we play a few card games before eating. It's just a super relaxed atmosphere where you get to eat real authentic Thai food, sitting on the floor, with really cool peeps.

Send me a PM if you want me to connect you with a few people. You could also just show up to the weekly Wednesday meeting and ask around.

Or could I go out early from 5pm to 12am?

Yeah, IMO that's a pretty bad schedule. You could probably make do on Khao San Road if you want to pickup travelers who party 24/7, but you'd have a pretty hard time if you wanted to go to "real" Thai clubs.

On the other hand, many of the islands like Ko Phi Phi truly do party all day and all night.
