RE: [DATASHEET] Ringo's São Paulo
Heads up for players in SP: monday is the town's birthday - a municipal holiday. It will be a long weekend full of events.

If you are familiar with a yearly event hosted here called Virada Cultural, you can get an idea of what you are in for.

It's a good opportunity to day game depending on where you pick. Do not stay out late, specially downtown. Muggings, beatings and arrastões are commonplace during these events.

My pick would be this spot: a free sunset party on Memorial da América Latina with awesome electronic music.

If you are looking for a different experience, try Daniela Mercury's cocaine, alcohol and sweat induced trio elétrico.

Full schedule here (in Portuguese).

Virada cultrual...
What a crazy time of year.
Go to plaza da republica and see what the street party is like.
Although I thought it was around June in previous years, did they change the date every year?

Haha. It's still in June. This is something else, the town's birthday.

Praça da República - the last place on Earth I would go to during the Virada. I have three or four acquaintances who got mugged or pickpocketed during concerts there.

I actually went there for the Virada in 2014 - left the Metro station, walked ten paces, saw an arrastão (a line of 15-20 robbers sweeping everyone's wallets and cellphones), turned around and went back home. lol

Great Datasheet Ringo. And awsome idea about the pick up places in Avenida Paulista. Since I am here I would also recommend Skins Under Party. Fucking craziest party I have ever been to. They keep the location secret and you actually don't know where you are going until you get there (they drive you). Crazy and hot chicks. They are having one party today, so probably not a new one for some months. But keep an eye open

Google the party, whatch some videos Wink

It is pretty safe if you stay out of a bad neighborhood. Do you plan to stay through airbnb, hotel, couch surfing or what?

Thats what I'm kind of wondering. Hotel or airnb as ill be working there for a month. I'd like to have a good location, but also a safe location. Possibly a place where there is security. Any ideas?

RE: [DATASHEET] Ringo's São Paulo
Well I dont know your price range, if you are looking for something not that expensive a hostel is a good ideia. I can tell you about one in Vila Madalena (lots of bars, close to good clubs) that I went to. Rly nice, here is info about it on a google page
https://www.google.com.br/search?client=...5554212722
(posted using my cellphone, hope it works)
If you want to expend a bit more you might get a good airbnb place, but I can't advise you on that, since I dont know much about airbnb
Regarding hotels, it would porbably be the most expensive, and I dont see much of a point in going for a hotel. But again I dont know your price range.
You might want to check out some "apart hoteis", kind of flats for rent. I think they will actually suit you good. Cheaper than any high end hotel, will provide more status than a hostel, and safer than most airbnb houses I guess.
Good luck

RE: [DATASHEET] Ringo's São Paulo
This thread is long overdue for an update.

I rarely drink nowadays which changed the way I go out. I don't do much night game anymore, and when I do it I try to go only to places where I can have fun and watch/hear/dance good music.

Augusta, where I used to go every weekend, has pretty much been crossed off my list. Too many bums, drunks, tatted up ugly girls. My go-to region now is Pinheiros/Vila Madalena.

So updating a few spots (I'm linking to Facebook because it's easier to check out new events):

NIGHT GAME
Studio SP: closed down.

Glória: closed down.

Jazz nos Fundos (Pinheiros):
Excellent live music spot for dates - not very good for approaching.

Neu (Barra Funda):
This spot is actually an old, renovated house. Mostly they play indie rock and hip hop. Cheap cover charge. Usual attendees are college-aged (20-25), hispter/alternative.

Rua Maria Antônia (All week, specially thursday/friday)(Consolação)
This street is right next to Universidade Mackenzie - a private college with thousands of students. This spot is golden 8-11pm on Thursdays and Fridays, when students either skip school or have a couple of drinks after class. Very easy to grab a beer and stand on the sidewalk drinking. Don't sit down on the bars - stay on the sidewalk where it's easier to approach.

Mercearia São Pedro "Merça" (Vila Madalena)
Another spot to order a beer and drink out on the sidewalk. Usually an older crowd (25-35).

Quitandinha/Genésio/Seu Domingos/Na quebrada (Vila Madalena)
The busiest corner in Vila Madalena. These four bars pretty much face each other. During Carnaval this corner will be swamped with people and street vendors. The rest of the year it's still a good spot to start your night. While Quitandinha, Genésio and Seu Domingos are sit down spots, Na Quebrada also has a dance floor and nice balcony. Ratios are usually shit, but it's still worth checking out because there's no cover charge and sometimes you stumble upon hot chicks in there.

Matrix (Vila Madalena)
Pretty much my #1 go-to now because the prime time starts ~1am, so I have time to check other spots beforehand. Cover charge is reasonable (about R$15 entrance or R$30 consumação). This spot is rock oriented (think Arctic Monkeys, The Cure, Queen, etc) and the dancefloor is usually decent. I like hitting up this spot during UFC events because I can chill and watch the fights while standing at the bar. I'll approach girls when they get drinks, and if nothing sticks I'll just keep watching the fight. During the breaks I go to the dancefloor.

Another tip is to hit up this place just to bum cigarrettes off of people (smoking area is out on the street). I usually do this when it's later, like 3am, and I struck out and feel like doing a hail mary approach.

Noname (Pinheiros)
Generic hipster vibe, but only a few steps from Fradique subway station. Great for happy hour and casual, standing up approaches - everyone drinks out on the street.

Canto da Ema (Pinheiros)
This is a new spot I'm toying with. They play exclusively Forró, which is a typical brazilian ballroom music:

The spot is fantastic - excellent ratios, girls are very cute and the cover charge is decent. The catch is: you're expected to know at least the basic movements. I've just completed a short course and can do the simplest shit, which is enough not to embarass myself. I haven't pulled from here yet - I need to work on my dance game some more - but I feel like it could become my #1 spot.

For total newbies, they offer classes on the cheap (R$16/class) multiple times a week before opening up to the general public - you can try to learn the first few steps and put it to practice shortly afterwards. On the downside, this isn't the easiest thing to learn and girls can demoralize you on the dancefloor if you suck lol. On the upside, exotic value is higher here.

Trackers (Centro)
A spot for the cool kids. Expect alcohol, cocaine and other drugs. Their parties can be very fun (specially when they host projects like Black Mamba and Metanol). Can't comment on attendance on the weekends, but it's usually good on Fridays and Saturdays. ALWAYS check the events and put your name on the list; don't get there later than 12-1am. Lines can get big, and specially if you're name is not on the list you may be denied entry.

Nos Trilhos (Mooca)
A mix between Trackers (above) and Casa das Caldeiras (below). This place has a ton of old trains around (hence the name, "On track"). People are usually more "coxinha" (square) than at Trackers. They have both day and night parties, so check out their page for the schedule.

DAY GAME
Itaim/Cidade Jardim
The whole neighbourhood is an amusement park. Either start on Kinoplex or Shopping Iguatemi and make your way to the other side.

Iguatemi (A on the map) is an upscale shopping mall, with a large number of restaurants and a food court. It is surrounded by MANY office buildings. During lunch hour, it gets unbearably crowded, and while there may be some bland office types, many hot chicks frequent this spot.

Clube Pinheiros (B) is a reference point on the map because it is one of the most distinct places among the paulistano elite. Most if its members (who pay tens of thousands of reais for a membership) have traditional and rich families and live nearby, so you are sure to see their gorgeous 20 year old offsprings walking around.

The larger purple area on the map is where you are most likely to find a wide array of girls: milfs and wealthy cougars, nouveau riches, hot dumb young interns, working class girls and A TON of models. Everyday during my lunch break I used to roam these streets and be constantly amazed by the talent around. Even if you tried to avoid beautiful girls during a short walk, you'd fail. The small mall where Kinoplex Cinema is located © is a good spot to head to - the mall is open and has the movie theater and nice cafés, so it tends to attract people.

CONS: 1. most people in this area have a busy schedule and won't have much time to spend chatting away. Be quick. 2. most people on their lunch break are accompanied by their colleagues, find a way around it (game the ones who are alone, check out the small street stores where they go in by themselves, etc.).

Parque Villa-Lobos (Alto de Pinheiros)
I've written about this spot on my OP, but I've been going there almost every Sunday and it's still (probably even more so) a fantastic location. Any time during the week is fine, but prime time is Saturday and Sunday, 10am-4pm. I like going to stay out in the sun, do yoga and run opportunistic approaches, so I kind of just do my thing. My recommendation is to walk around and ask if you can try some of the stuff some groups may be doing - yoga, stretching, dancing, slacklining, ultimate frisbee.

Don't play football on the courts, there's fights breaking up all of the time with people who are new. Don't rent a bike - you can only ride it on a certain track. Walk instead.

Praça do Pôr do Sol (Alto de Pinheiros)
This is THE spot if 1. it's a weekend and the weather is nice 2. if you do well with socializing and interacting with groups. Basically it's a huge square with an amazing view of the sunset. A ton of young people flock there, drink beers, smoke weed, play guitar, etc. Around 3-5pm is also a good time to run game at the Pão de Açucar supermarket on Praça Panamericana, a couple of minutes walking from there, where most groups go to buy drinks. Combo: can be visited after spending the day at Parque Villa Lobos.

Casa das Caldeiras (Água Branca)
This place is an old factory turned into one of the best places to party in SP. They sometimes host parties with cover charges on Fridays and Saturdays. However the real value is on the Sunday parties they host during the day (~3-10pm) - usually with food, vendors, music, etc. Entrance is almost always free. Highly recommend it.

RE: [DATASHEET] Ringo's São Paulo
Had a great surprise this weekend. On Saturday I went to a relatively new spot/project called Kubik, in Downtown.

10/10 electronic music, great ambiance (high ceilings, balconies, good acoustics, cool lightning), fantastic staff (something to remark in nightlife in general), and more good looking girls than I could count. Gay guys were there in force but I'm pretty used to frequenting this kind of spot so I always use them to help me with their girl friends.

No bang but got some promising numbers - again, dance game still improving but I could tell I was turning some heads.

Tickets are R$50 for students and R$100 for non-students. Check their Facebook page for new events.

RE: [DATASHEET] Ringo's São Paulo
I've been going out at night A LOT these past few weeks and been consistently getting good results.

This is in part because I've finally got a couple of good wingmen by my side, which really helps to keep me motivated since I don't drink and often would bonk after 1h30 by myself at a club.

I refuse to spend over R$40 to get in anywhere and I do mostly electronic music - I just like it better and the girls like me too.

My favorite spots right now are Lions, Nos Trilhos and Air Rooftop. I'll post them below with pics of the venue and typical, game-worthy talent.

Lions
Shotgun mentioned this spot a few years ago. I'd been a few times but lately I've been hitting it every 3 or 4 weeks. The venue itself is similar to Air Rooftop. People are usually "edgier", a lot of bros wearing flat caps, a lot of girls that are into weed. Usually girls are on the younger side (18-23). Entrance is typically R$20-30.

Nos Trilhos (as mentioned in post #94)
They've been hosting more and more events recently. Sometimes they host third party events, so entrance fees can vary from R$10 to R$100. They'll have a bunch of cool parties coming up in June/July (Festas Juninas), so keep this place on your list if you're coming to town. It's mostly open air, so be mindful if it's raining or too cold - the place will likely be empty. Crowd is usually 20-30.

This is the main dancefloor:

[Image: 18274686_1012669952202240_8317463854133672791_n.jpg]

Typical talent is the cool, fun, low-key 7:

Air Rooftop
First time mentioning this place. I've been there a handful of times in the past 2 months. It's on top of a mall in Downtown SP. They always have top notch electronic music. There's a big dancefloor and sometimes they open up a second one in the back. The open air balcony is huge, has a great view and is excellent for approaching. Cover charge is usually R$20-30, but like Nos Trilhos they often host third party events so prices may vary.

Main dancefloor:

[Image: 18301160_415875488778706_7858074329707242694_n.jpg]

Balcony (sometimes the main dancefloor and DJ are on the balcony, sometimes it's a 2nd dancefloor. Usually it's just the smoking area):

[Image: 18033213_407249176308004_3601211689185419864_n.jpg]

Typical talent is in the 7, sometimes 8-range. More dressed up than Nos Trilhos. Many girls are on ecstacy, LSD or molly:
