Been so desensitised from habitual jacking off that I take 30 mins to bust a nut.

1 week in no fap so far. Blew a huge load in a girl last night.

RE: NoPorn / NoFap Google Group - For Those Who're Serious
Had a bit of a strange one the other day.
I've gotten back aboard the NoFap train and am on about day 10. My previous best was 40 days earlier this year. Now, to ease the discomfort I'm weaning myself by watching pornography but not masturbating to it. Helps to deal with the agitation.
I woke up in the small hours of yesterday morning and found I'd spilled my seed during the night. This is something very unusual for me since I can't actively recall having done it before and even then, would assume it took place years before when I was a teenager.
I'm inclined to file it under 'anomalous incident - keep an eye on.'
Has anybody else had something similar happen?

In the past week I've been blue balled by two different girls (different occasions).

Back in the day I would've used these are prime opportunities to jerk off because I was horny as fuck. But now, by the time these girls leave, I am so tired that all I want to do is pass out. This is thanks to all of the sleep hacks I've been using that now cue me to pass out around 10 PM:

-Bright Light Therapy
-Coffee only before noon
-Less alcohol
-Darker bedroom
-High magnesium supplementation

I highly suggest guys trying to quit get their sleep game on point. Many of us are stuck in the habit of jacking off before going to sleep, and using these techniques above help break that habit.

Congrats on your streak! Is that both no porn and no fap?

Currently I'm on day 9 of no porn/no alcohol, and day 4 of no fap. Right now it's more important that I get this porn thing under control, so I'm allowing myself the occasional fap as sort of a safety valve. I'm in the process of starting a new business, so that's been occupying most of my focus/energy. I've been so caught up in it that I haven't had much desire to watch porn, or even to fap.

However, I am really struggling to get my sleep patterns locked down. I can usually fall asleep pretty well, but I honestly can't remember the last time I've had a solid night of sleep. I wake up many times throughout the night, and spend half the night tossing and turning while trying to get my mind to slow down.

Next thing I know my alarm is going off and I'm so tired from not sleeping that I finally doze off for another hour or two. I'm basically losing a couple hours each day by oversleeping, and then never feel all that rested, leading to decreased energy/mood throughout the day. Of course feeling shitty in general sometimes leads to other undesirable behaviors like watching porn and drinking.

I've been reading through the thread on bright light therapy. Though costly, it might be worth picking up a light box. I'm also going to look into magnesium. You say you do high magnesium supplementation...how much do you normally take?

RE: NoPorn / NoFap Google Group - For Those Who're Serious
To be honest, I have more or less stopped masturbating, naturally.

Maybe my sex drive is low, but I just haven't felt the need. Been dating a girl about two months now and our sex life is good and I feel satisfied with her. Maybe its the time of year but I don't feel the need to jerk it everyday anymore.

I definitely notice my my libido/mood changes with the season though. When I think back to times when I was feeling really horny/up for it, it was always a summers day/night. Winter time, I am pretty lazy sometimes, especially after I have been at work all day, I don't even feel I have the energy sometimes.

I wonder how much of stopping masturbating is placebo. I have not focused on it, and I actually can't remember the last time I masturbated. Maybe once in the last month, and the month before, it was a similar story. Because I haven't been focused on stopping, it hasn't felt hard..(in more ways then one..lol)

My streak is PornFree and NoFap. This was one of the warning signs that caught me - I would often enjoy the porn more than the orgasm, and would spend more time watching then actually jerking off.

One thing that has helped is whenever I get an urge, I'll open a porn tab, verbally announce "this is counterproductive. You don't want this," then close the tab.

It sounds like your sleep issues are fucked. Caffeine/alcohol use?

I can't recommend the light box enough...it's subtle, but I find my mornings happier and my evenings relaxing.

Magnesium supplementation varies....take at least one pill of the magnesium recommended here, see how you feel, increase dosage, repeat. Max dosage would be 800mg/day.

I never really thought about the seasonal effect, but my best streaks have always occurred during the colder months. I'm not sure if it's a hormonal/libido thing or what. My mood is definitely different during colder months, though not necessarily in a bad way. Interesting observation though.

There's definitely something to that last part as well. When I'm preoccupied with other major life activities (traveling, working toward a concrete goal, etc) I have less time to even think about porn/fapping. When I do feel the urge it's much easier to dismiss because I have other positive forms of stimulation to focus on.

However, when I don't have many positive things going on that's when the urge is strongest. Stopping becomes one of my main focal points, and one can only fight the urge for so long. The key is to stay busy and keep the mind occupied with other positive activities so that porn/fapping is no longer a priority.

That same warning sign also made me realize that porn was an issue. I was more interested in watching porn than the act of fapping itself, and I could spend hours hunting for the perfect scene (hence why I'm more concerned with staying porn free for now, although kudos to you and others who are doing both).

I admire your willpower with the porn tab method. I don't think I could pull that off in the long run. Personally, I've found that eventually I'll cave when I have easy access to it, so I'm better off restricting my internet somewhat to lessen the temptation -- at least until I've got this under control.

And yes, my sleep is fucked up right now. Alcohol use isn't a problem, as I've cut back A LOT. Caffeine is definitely more of an issue. The fact that I'm always tired leads me to drink way more caffeine than I should.

I appreciate the response, and I'll follow your advice by eliminating caffeine after noon. Also going to toss that magnesium in with my next order of optizinc. I'll probably hold off on the light box for now since funds are tight, but now I have an idea of what I want for xmas!

Great quote from Ed Latimore's Twitter. I jerked off yesterday, but remembered this when I considered watching some porn:

I was at the internet cafe today sitting next to a guy who spent two hours watching porn. A muscled up guy, maybe he has too much testosterone.

Porn seriously doesnt fascinate me anymore. Rubbing the one eyed snake though...

Don't debate me.

Porn/fapping "addiction" is similar to alcoholism in that there's a large grey area of what an "addiction" is defined as. The masses all participate in alcohol and porn, so it's normal, right? Even if we do accept that both are normal vices, it's still possible to abuse them.

Some guys can watch porn and jerk off as much as possible and still feel great...cool, good for them. But some guys (myself included) get foggy if indulging excessively.

I'd like to compile a list of "you might be addicted if..." because there are some warning signs that can alert us. Enjoying the porn more than the masturbation is my red flag. Side note: this is proof that the porn releases more dopamine than jerking off.

Getting your sleep fixed will straighten many issues out. Caffeine is tricky, tolerance swings based on usage and lifestyle. If you are always feel tired, there's sleep issues at play.

I think Lizard of Oz spoke about this once, but it might be beneficial to tackle one vice at a time. If you're on a wagon, prioritize that and make sure you get through. Then focus on quitting porn. Alternatively, Zona should be focusing on getting his sleep primarily, while slowly backing off on the jerking off.

My streak right now (52 days) is on FIRE because I committed 100% to this. I don't care if I lose sleep, lose bangs, lose focus, money, bangs, whatever. I am making it to 90 days, and that's it.

Damn man, there's something about 7-8 days mark.. That's when it becomes the hardest to resist. I can very rarely make it past that.

Regardless I still feel relatively healthy and alive if I keep it to once a week. Otherwise my thought patterns just become dominated by sex and porn and I just can't focus on the everyday things I gotta do.

I fap a lot more freely when I notice I don't have any new prospects in the pipeline. The "guilt" is much stronger when I know there's a few potential leads I could turn into bangs, than when I don't really have any new developments on the horizon.

Thanks. I see where you're coming from.
I'm not addicted to porn or fapping, but its just become a mindless activity during downtimes. Having an ltr probably means there wont be significant dry spells in the next three months. Also, there seems to be a definite feedback loop between my alcohol consumption and fapping, since I felt strong cravings for booze after a few sessions. So, yeah.
52 days seem sick though.

Day 1.

The hardest for me is the weekends. I could go a week no problem, but after a night of going out and if no smashes, that's when I usually buckle. I need to keep myself busier during the weekend.

RE: NoPorn / NoFap Google Group - For Those Who're Serious
Tried no porn for quite some time and had some success, but also a few relapses. What I noticed though: If you abstain from porn for quite some time, you might be in danger of a relapse, but the porn seems more and more strange. When I had the urge to fap, I sometimes opened porn clips but was so weirded out by it, that i jerked off to the memory of past conquests or prospects instead. If you abstain from porn for longer periods of time, it just seems not normal to watch a chick get banged out by another dude anymore. No porn really re-wires you brain. I think no porn is the most important thing, you can fap in moderation without negative effects.
