I man feel like Bubbling -

Operator play the music that we love so well -

Ah ahh ah ah aihgghh

Fucking jungle bunnies coming over 'ere and playing their bloody jungle music:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FVhokP8bFk8

From this film:

Brinsley Forde MBE was kind of the main man with both of these things.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brinsley_Forde

The UK wasn't quite ready for this close to the bone critique of race relations at this point. But it got served. It hit all the funny bones. Those of us that just liked to listen to reggae music, those of us that had black girlfriends and went out and listened to reggae music, those of us that used to DJ that music. Those of us that hated the fucking jungle bunnies coming over 'ere and playing their bloody 'jungle music' (if you make jungle or drum and bass this will make you laugh).

Racism was rife. It was hard being a black person at that time. Hard being a white boy with a beautiful black girlfriend, too.

You and me now sister, dancing in the corner

We found some nice places, and when it was good, there was nothing better, but we got run out of town a lot of the time. Racism? Yeah. From the blacks as much as the whites. But many many times it was good. We were left alone. We got some funny looks. A few funny comments. But if you could just love and let love rule the day and ignore it all, it was a fucking good night out. Lovers Rock.

Could tell stories and write a book about it all. But who cares.

Loved the music, loved the people (for the most part).

Everyone feeling 'Irie'.

Yes I.

Block parties in Battersea where we had to hide in the host's bedroom! Check that! DJ'ing to a room of non-racist black people, while the racist blacks downstairs play Ragga and threaten you when you go for a piss. Fun times.

No racist whites around that night, funnily enough.

I man feel like bubbling...

Won't you dance with me?

Shout out to another icon of the UK Reggae scene:

UB40 saxophonist Brian Travers says he will "carry on living life to the full" after having two brain tumours removed.

The founding member of the Birmingham band, who topped the charts in 1983 with Red Red Wine, added that he does not plan to give up alcohol or smoking.

This is an insane video, equally impressive, bizarre, and hilarious. A 21 year old Filipina with an amazing voice, imitating famous singers and sometimes singing better than the singers themselves, all the while screwing up her face to hit the notes and making goofy faces and fooling around. Basically just a girl messing around in her room with a camera.

Completely charming.

Here she is in 2018, in front of an audience. Unpolished but that voice gives me goose bumps.

From now on all I post is this girl. The baby is so chilled out. This video is like an alien from a singing planet came down to show us how limited we are. She even throws in some Michael Jackson. Amazing.

The album that defined the futurefunk genre. If clubs played this and had no people I would probably go to some.

Here's a short piece from J. S. Bach called 'The Enlightened Thoughts of a Tobacco Smoker' (sang in German, English lyrics in video):

«Spring brings cherry blossoms to comfort you, the summer stars, the harvest moon in fall, and the powdered snow in winter. All of these things, and the promise of them, is what makes sake taste so good. If the taste is bad, it comes from you.»

RE: What are you listening to?
Alestorm! Erm, I think it's classified as 'Pirate Metal'. With songs called 'Nancy the Tavern Wench', 'F***ed by an Anchor' and 'Drink', you can't help but smile along with the hilarious lyrics and upbeat style!

Quote:Alestorm is generally classified as folk metal,[13][14] power metal[13][14] and pirate metal.[6][13][15][16] The band refer to themselves as "True Scottish Pirate Metal"[17] and are identifiable by the pirate-themed lyrics in their songs. Alestorm's music utilizes the upbeat epic style of power metal with many orchestrations commonly found in folk metal. Album recordings feature heavy use of real trumpets and trombones, whilst implementing accordion synths, fiddle and tin whistle to convey a pirate sea shanty feel. Alestorm uses factors of absurdity to bring a jocular feel to their music, incorporating irreverent lyrical themes while retaining a tenuous connection to pirates.

Yeah, I was there at the first Underworld gig, the one where the guy died and got carted out on all fours, stiff.

Everyone just kept dancing.

Like you do.

The fact I'd just got hit up by the hottest bitch in the club was 'problematic'.

I went out to some other clubs after. She was there. Hitting other guys up.

"I'm so dirty... and the light it blinds my eyes..."

This is the song they played when the guy died:

It was pretty raw.

No one could go home. Tubes not for another 3 hours.

"Well I got phone sex to see me through..."

Everyone just kept dancing. Like it didn't happen.

The guy that died wasn't 'right' anyway. He had some kind of defect.

But imagine that: totally off your rocker on E, getting loved up by the local E whore, then this guy just dropping dead in front of you, with all the lasers and shieet...

I get my kicks on channel 6

It was at that very moment the whole movement died. Everything that had built up to it before.

It was our Altamont moment. But without the Angels.

I'm so dirty, and the light it blinds my eyes...
