Depends what you're spraying, really...
If it's an aquatic scent, or a scent that has crappy projection, 4 sprays really isn't that much.
If you're spraying something heavy and dark that much, you might end up clearing a room.

RE: What colognes do you own?
I'm getting back into cologne buying and studying mode-I've just been wearing what I have since last winter

I'm building an extensive list of samples and decants i want to get. I don't often blind buy a full bottle unless its inexpensive and the reviews make it sound like something I would really like.

Lately in the summer heat and humidity I've been wearing mostly Bleu by Chanel, Nautica Voyage, Green Irish Tweed, Instinct by David Beckham, and Millesime Imperial

If anyone wants to learn about colognes see Basenotes.net and Fragrantica.com. Also there are plenty of cologne reviews on Youtube, robes08 being my go-to reviewer

RE: What colognes do you own?
Since we're at a change of seasons and a lot of newer guys probably don't know this thread exists , I wanted to revive it.

Here's a list of ones I already own that I'll breaking out for Fall:

Fuel for Life-gourmandish with a prominant raspbesrry note-chicks like it

Tommy Bahama Original- woody. Old GF loved this one

Original Penguin-bought an ounce of this for $10 recently at TJ Maxx and instead of a generic fresh scent was surprised to find its a really good oriental style-warm and spicy and perfect for Fall.

Dirty English- big fan of this-leather with dark citrus. Very masculine. Just wish it had better longevity and projection. Fortunately it's dirt cheap so I can keep respraying.

Aventus-amazing pussy magnet and all time compliment getter. My go to frag when cold approaching or on first dates. Best when temp is below 80.

La Nuit-another excellent one for nighttime. Great projection. Girls from upper 20's and up love this one

Jaipur-good Oriental for cool days

Safari- an excellent Chypre style. Real classic masculine for moderate to cool days.

Encre Noire-a dark, smoky vetiver I like to wear on cool foggy nights

Eau de Baux- high quality incense frag at an affordable price. Nice for cool to cold days

Tuscan Leather- Suedey leather with a raspberry note popping out. Used up my decant need to get another

Ones I want to try/buy for Fall:

Five o'clock au Gingembre

Chergui

Boss Bottled

L'Air du Desert Marocain- my sample of this ran out, going to get a bottle. Amazing stuff I will wear just for myself

Hinoki

Spiriteuse Double Vanille

Ore-have sampled this, a good gourmand with a prominent cacao note

Ambre Nuit

Dzing

Ambre Naguile

Ambre 114

Rose 31

What are you guys going to wear or interested in for Fall?

Fuel for Life- Diesel. this appeals to women, especially younger ones

Vetyver-Roger & Gallet. nice greenish vetiver, shortlived but great for a refreshing spritz

L'Eau d'Issey- Issey Miyake. the only floral I own, women like it

Body Kouros-YSL. I like it for cool weather, women seem to be neutral on it

Cologne-Thierry Mugler. smells like soap, good morning scent

Tommy Bahama Original-Tommy Bahama. a woody scent, have had compliments from women. cheap too

Nightflight - Joop. powerful projection. good summer clubbing scent for unsophisticated girls

Carolina Herrera for Men- perfumey with a weird nutty note. not a fan

Rochas Man- Rochas. great for cool weather, lots of women like it. better for dates than clubbing because doesn't project much

The Dreamer- Versace. I like it when the mood strikes but can be polarizing. best for spring I think

Terre d'Hermes-Hermes. although relatively new issue, a real classic gentleman's fragrance. gets female compliments though mostly from 30 and overs

Aqua Quorum-Quorum. a cheapie aquatic scent good for the gym, sports and car air freshener

Dirty English-Juicy. a cheapie that I really like. very manly scent. have had compliments

Voyage-Nautica- good inexpensive aquatic

Aspen-Coty- decent supercheap knockoff of Green Irish Tweed

Instinct-David Beckham-really excellent citrus/vetiver at a cheap price. great bargain

Set Sail St Barts-Tommy Bahama- nice cheap hot weather scent

Hugo-Hugo Boss- a daytime scent I am not crazy about but women like it

Encre Noire-Lalique. like this a lot, great cool night scent.

La Nuit de l'Homme. excellent clubbing scent with great projection. 30+ women love it. I call it The Milf Killer

Millesime Imperial-Creed-an amazing sumer scent, one of the very best. just wish projection wasn't so weak

Jaipur Homme Fraicheur-Boucheron- a decent oriental

Musc Ravageur- Frederic Malle- sexbomb in a bottle. warning-very polarizing-women either are repulsed by it or want to start rutting with you immediately. the first hour is not for the faint of heart

Aqua-Bulgari- my favorite aquatic. draws female compliments

Aventus-Creed- yes

Cuba Gold- a decent super cheap knockoff of Le Male

Eau de Baux-L'Occitane- I like i but haven't worn it enough for a fair test

Chic for Men-Carolina Herrera- kind of sweet floral smelling but haven't tested women's reactions yet

Patchouli 24-Le Labo. good lord, like some weird modern art experiment in fragrance. Have been afriad to wear it n public but will give it a go some evening this winter when I'm feeling like an asshole

Kinski-Esocentric Molecules-smells like cannibis. really like it

Tobacco Vanille-Tom Ford- great scent for cold weather.pricy. mixed reviews from the chicks

Tuscan Leather-Tom Ford- someone told me this smells a lot like cocaine Angel good stuff

Black Aoud-Montale-one of my favorites. at once urbane and dangerous. absolutely not for everyone-best for the worldy man with solid inner game. draws compliments from sophisticated women

L'Air du Desert Marocain-Andy Tauer- love this stuff but don't wear it when gaming

Lumiere Noire-Francis Kurkdjian- can't decide about this one- sometimes I like it other times I think it is too feminine

Intimately-David Beckham-a decent cheapie for a stay-in date

Leather Oud-Dior. leathery, smoky animalic intensity. Another one i have not yet worn in public even though I love it

Man knows his colognes!

RE: What colognes do you own?
Currently I have:

Dior: Homme (pretty good but more expensive)
Yves saint Laurent: L'homme libre (good scent but doesnt last)
Azzaro: Chrome (good light scent for day, cheap as well)
Bulgary: Bulgary (scents good but doesnt last)
Carolina Herrera: 212 VIP (good stuff)
Polo: Explorer (new so cant judge yet but promising)
Black XS: L'excess (sweet scent, I like it)
Rochas: Man (if you need a cheaper perfume for all times, this is it, on the sweet side, unisex)
Carolina Herrera: CH for men (new but it will be a favorite)
Givenchy: Pi (vanilla, good for winter nights)

Girls love perfume, but many are overpriced I think. You have to find a balance.

Old spice is an old classic, nothing wrong with it except might remind a girl of her grandfather. Try Rive Gauche for an updated take in a similar vein. Brut is stank to me

Joop is a 90's powerhouse clubbing scent, hope you go easy on the trigger, it's easily overwhelming. One Million is a recent frag that fills the same role as Joop that you might want to try. Younger girls really like it according to reports

That's a really good range of designers, you've got most of the bases covered

Those are 90's classics and I'm pretty sure were the two biggest selling men's frags of the 90's and are huge sellers to this day. Women definitely like them. Only drawback is you're going to smell like several of her ex's which might make bad associations in her mind. Might want to get some samples and experiment with expanding your collection

RE: What colognes do you own?
Current:

Donna Karan Fuel- classic scent I used to buy in college, reissued.
Issey Miyake- another go-to for my everyday cologne.
Santa Maria Novella "Russa"- Got this in Florence, smells like a clean soap.
Tom Ford Grey Vetivier- This smells like money. My Vegas go-to cologne.
Comme De Garcons "Citrico"- Nice splash, another clean scent.
Comme De Garcons x Monocle Scent 1 "Hinoki"- Kind of a nice incense style scent.
Dior L'Homme Nuit- This is what I wear when I want to pick up cougars. They love this for some reason
Malin + Goetz Rum- sweet smelling scent.

Not buying any more until I finish these bottles, will take a while. Next one I get will probably be a repurchase of Comme De Garcons "Kyoto" which is kind of like the Hinoki cologne but a little more incense in nature.

RE: What colognes do you own?
I have expanded my collection!:

Warm day:
Dior Higher Energy
YSL L'homme Libre

Warm night:
YSL La nuit Frozen Cologne

Cold day:
Chanel Bleu EdP (just bought it one week ago)

Cold night:
Armani Night

And I'm between Armani Code Ultimate and Zegna Intenso for cold date night.

I have noticed that woody/spicy fragrances work well with my skin, something with citrus for the day but woody mostly. I don't like the ones that are too sweet, vainilla or powdery.

RE: What colognes do you own?
I had never really used colognes growing up but I was walking through Macys about a year ago and one of the sales ladies sucked me in and I ended up buying Gentlemen Only Givenchy. I think at the time it was a fairly new cologne but it smelled decent to me. I have gotten some compliments on smelling good by I think it might be my "secret deodorant" that I use.

So far I don't have any complaints. I'm about half way through the bottle a year later. I only use it when I'm going out on a date or some other social event.

I bought it with the body wash combo but I haven't made it around to using the body wash yet.

How do you guys spray yours on? I usually spray it into the air and then walk into as to not concentrate the smell into one spot. (1 to 2 sprays)

Bought the following last Saturday:
Creed - Bois du Portugal, smells really classy. Think it even got me a bang, a girl said I smelt incredibly masculine. She got slammed shortly afterwards.
Creed - Green Irish Tweed, a bit like Cool Water but more pleasant and much fresher. My day fragrance since purchase.
Tom Ford - Mandarino di Amalfi, very citrusy and clean smelling
Tom Ford - Costa Azzurra, crisp and a bit spicy

I always put on cologne and wanna get more into this, but not sure if its as worthwhile as good clothes, hair and gym.

Do you guys notice any big difference between using decent cologne vs really good cl? Or when not wearing cl vs with cl?

Where do you find those designer ones? Very expensive also, you think its worth that kind of money? Creed and Tom Ford are somewhat mythical on perfume forums.

A scent store near my place with the entire Creed/Tom Ford range. The Tom Ford stuff is a bit more expensive. There's for and against arguments regarding the price but they smell unique and the reactions are always positive.
You can always pick up some samples from ebay to try them out.

It's pretty much considered the best perfume on the market if im not mistaken, but damn expensive yeah. Too much for me at this stage in life.

Btw prices of perfumes vary a lot between countries.

I picked up Dior-Homme perfume 100ml for 80$ in the airport of Lima, it normally sells for about 130$ or so I think. Anyone knows where the best deals can be found? Lots of travellers on here.
