How times have changed...advertisements from the 50s
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-...bands.html

Of course feminists are going ballistic in the comments, downvoting anything they don't agree with.

"outrageously sexist adverts"................................the first picture is more like "outrageously sexy" -Brent

That comment got 51 downvotes. Funny, but how is it that almost every girl I've banged liked to be spanked?

There seem to be some guys with their heads together though.

"The first thing I thought when I saw these is that they remind me of numerous adverts from recent times where men are being treated this way. I.E. a man lying on the floor with a stiletto wearing woman standing on him with some derogatory comment aimed at men. Apparently this is ok though and not sexist at all."

A male dominated industry should try an add like this today. They'd get tons of exposure and all publicity is good publicity.

RE: How times have changed...advertisements from the 50s
Men used to dictate the spending habits of the middle class family, so adverts were targeted at them. Now, women predominately control the spending decisions, so advertising is targeted at them. Just follow the money.

I can't have sex with your personality, and I can't put my penis in your college degree, and I can't shove my fist in your childhood dreams, so why are you sharing all this information with me?

Female happiness has been in decline since the 1970s, when they started taking notes about it. It was probably even higher during the 50s.
The women who were the targets of these sexist advertisements lived happier lives than the ones who are mocking them now.

The Flintstones were in in Primetime in their day. It was an adult show like the Simpsons or the Muppets.

The Flintstones were in in Primetime in their day. It was an adult show like the Simpsons or the Muppets.

Definitely an adult oriented program, modelled after the classic, extremely popular "Honeymooners" sitcom, where the signature phrase was Jackie Gleason threatening to one day hit his wife. "Bang zoom one of these days right in the kisser."

"Equality may perhaps be a right, but no power on earth can ever turn it into a fact."

"Want him to be more of a man? Try being more of a woman!"

"It is easier to be a lover than a husband, for the same reason that it is more difficult to be witty every day, than to say bright things from time to time."

Yes, suggesting women cook a meal is "sexist." That's how far society has fallen.

Beyond that, these ads aren't so bad. At least the women come off reasonably attractive. These days, commercials dump on men and make them look and act like mentally-stunted morons.

The kneejerk reaction that cooking is beneath a human being is strange as shit. The idea that caring for another human being (cooking for someone else, for one's own children) is dehumanizing is fucked up beyond belief. Without the feminist propaganda frame, it is almost monstrous.

Think about it: caring for one's own children and mate is vilified. Kissing the ass daily at work of your other gendered boss is lauded.

Basically yeah, that and the college-educated, Baby Boomer culture culture movement took over the universities and entertainment/advertising industries following the 1960s, so advertisements and most forms of media became predominately PC.

Though in reality this doesn't represent the views of the average Joe (or Jane), as the feedback to the Ghostbusters trailers proves - it's simply being astroturfed by the elites who run the media industry.

I honestly think they're a dying breed however, and that the entertainment industry will shift in a more conservative direction in the coming decades, particularily because the internet offers plenty of alternative, independent sources of media to the liberal "dinosaur" media.

Some company should make an advertisement like that and put it in the paper or something, Instant brand recognition. I bet they`d sell a lot of stuff doing that haha.

A talented artist could replace all the male figures with pictures of Kanye West or some other massively popular minority misogynist. SJWs would be suffering brain implosions at an epic rate. Laugh
