RE: Perfect Posture Exercises
These exercises are effective.
After running sprints, I had a sore/tight lower back for a full month before I did a 12 minute variation of the exercises shown in the video. Like magic my back loosened up and was back to normal. I only did the exercise out of frustration, after a month of low activity did not help. Good post.

RE: Perfect Posture Exercises
Forget this bullshit. Do not do these exercises, I will save you the time. I have tried plenty of exercises in order to get perfect posture & it has all worked so/so. (That said if you are going to do an exercise for posture do kettlebell swings). I am about to tell you the one thing you need to do in order to have perfect posture...you don't need to do anything else and you will be amazed at how easy this is to do.

I want to really emphasize this because although it is SUPER EASY it has literally taken me YEARS to discover. I consider myself something of a fanatic on figuring out how to have perfect posture.

Ready?

**Lean your weight forward to your toes**

That is all you have to do. Look at a mirror to see the difference.

It makes so much sense too because if you are hunched over when leaning on your toes you will fall over. In order to stay standing upright you will have to lean your upper body back when pushing weight onto your toes. Your body naturally wants to be upright so when you lean your weight on your toes like the body naturally does when not wearing shoes, then you will find yourself having better posture.

Thanks for reading, I'll see myself out. Glad to be able to share this.

Is your time-saver going to help people who have postures like this?

That's anterior and posterior pelvic tilt, which can affect people who sit for extended periods of time behind a desk.

It's an issue that needs proper daily stretching, or workouts that focus on the core muscles, to address. I don't think just putting your weight on your toes is going to be nearly as effective.

Has any of you tried this guys stuff? Apparently, he trains athletes like Derek Fisher and Kelly Slater. Not so much for posture but for preventing lower back problems.

Rule still applies. You can't have your weight forward and stick your butt out like that unless your knees are locked. Putting the weight forward is what prevents the second pic. Don't take my advice though, try it for yourself and see. For me, doing this was game changing. No pun intended.

RE: Perfect Posture Exercises
Why not just do yoga and work your back in the gym? Most of these exercises are just modified yoga poses.

My posture's pretty good, I give credit to the deadlift.

The Superman yoga pose helps immensely with this. Also if able, try and do bridges.

RE: Perfect Posture Exercises
For all around better posture I recommend the following:

Rounded Shoulders: (kind of a hunch back look, or arms look to far foward) - caused by your pecs being too tight, its a extremely tight muscle and if your back is lacking in strength and mobility will cause this effect. Solution: 30 secs per day stand in a door way and put both arms against frame and lean foward...hold for 30 seconds (one per morning, one per evening).

Continued: 10 reps (2x per day) - wall slides, lean back against wall your feet about 8-12 inches away from wall and slide your arms up and than back down until you feel tightness in your shoulder blades. keep your arms flat against the wall...this kind be a little difficult at first but will eventually loosen in a couple of days.

Neck and spine: thoracic stretch - lean against a chair (chair seat should be about half way up your back) and act like you are trying to curl your back around the chair. this pulls your neck back and straightens your back to be more upright. hold for 5 seconds and repeat 5-10 times twice per day.

Pelvic Issues: lay down on your back and thurst your butt into the air and squeeze and hold. 10 reps twice per day.
Leg Lifts - lay down on your side and lift you leg into the air and hold. 10x twice per day for each leg. you should feel a little burning at the end.

Hip Flexor stetch - knee on ground one hand against wall. thrust your hips foward (like your fucking a bit), will be very tight at first so be careful. 10 reps per leg, twice per day.

Do this for a month or so and you will notice your posture incredibly better, just remember that when you are sitting down at meals or behind a desk to keep your back arched and straight and your shoulders back and down. It also helps to get a standing desk at work (i have it) and it is all around a much healthier way of working than sitting on your ass all day. this is a little tiredsome at first but your body quickly adapts.

if anyone would like a some pics of the following exercises let me know and I will try and dig some up or send links.

RE: Perfect Posture Exercises
I went from spending 5 hours a week on the computer to over 35 hrs, and I feel that this is having an effect on my posture.
Thanks for the tip, will try out and hopefully will help- don't want to have any long term posture problems after all.

RE: Perfect Posture Exercises
Hi Kerouac,
Posture plays important role while working out to meet required fitness results and to prevent yourself from any joint or muscle pain so follow right posture while working out. Great threat and post for those who have recently started working out and like to say besides workouts do focus on your daily meal plans also.
