The only woman I've heard of who was a good leader was Queen Boudica. Her tribe was absorbed into the Roman Empire, though.

She burned Londinium to the ground. Apparently if you dig down far enough there is a layer of ash from that fire. That's a pretty good way to get back at your abuser and your daughter's rapists.
