But has anybody actually gotten a job from internations.org? Significant business contact?

Looking on their website, it seems like more of an expat social community site than a business networking site.

What's the difference between paid and free membership?

How is this different from Linkedin? I could also do a search there to find work in my field. Is the difference a higher standard for members? Because otherwise Linkedin would have a big advantage due to larger membership. You can also cross-reference for your alma mater with Linkedin, making it easier to contact alumni of your school at companies you're interested in.

Are you talking about Internations or ASW? ASW has a jobs board but I don't know how effective that's been, but there's definitely business contacts to be made though. Guys bring biz cards to the events in DC.

I was referring to Internations. I understood from the OP that Internations is more geared towards business, and ASW more towards social networking.

Just wondering if any members of Internations can flesh it out a bit, maybe build on what AliB wrote below:

Haven't been to a meetup, but I see in cities I go many beta orbiters and some hot foreign/local broads on the pics. I think a guy with game could cleanup.

The information on housing is gold, as is general information you won't find or can't trust on other internet resources.

If I make the cut and get any invites I'll send them to some folks here (Speakeasy, Menace, etc).

My account is frozen as well. Funny though, I put in a request for "forgot password" and instantly sent me a new password, but it doesn't work as well. This is what it said when I tried to log-in:

Quote:The new ASW has launched to a small group of members. As we invite additional members in, we will reach out by email so stay tuned.

I'm not holding my breath on that email and probably wont make the cut either.

Well, don't feel bad. Even Tiger Woods and Lindsay Lohan didn't make the cut Smile

This Brazilian girl and Italian girl I know from the site (both live abroad) are able to log in. Brazilian has 5 invites and tried to send one to me but got a message saying I'm already a member and will be getting an e-mail to login soon...

CEO of ASW was on CNBC saying the site is still in Beta mode and they are inviting pre-existing members back in waves.

So any day now we should get e-mails to get us logged in again.

I still don't understand why the chose such a low annual price point...it makes me think they're not that confident in their brand and what they could potentially offer...or do they feel the women members can't afford it? I mean it really should be around $500/year.

Yeah. $105 isn't restrictive but it's a price point that I think is high enough that those who choose to pay it will actually be active. I think that was what they're getting at by introducing a paying membership system. ASW was having an issue where many members were not active at all (dead weight). I think the annual fee at $105 is an experiment to discourage bullshitters from joining and wasting space.

They slam us with all those ads and Lexus promos... I'm hesitant to pay the $105, but I've only been a member since February.

RE: International Networking Sites
Just got the e-mail inviting me to the new and improved ASW site.

Quote:Dear [Edit],

ASMALLWORLD has relaunched! We're inviting a group of members to join first—people who share our perspective on the world—and you are one of them.

In the new ASW, you will find:

A fully-verified community capped at only 250,000. No fakes, no frauds.
An international privileges program with 500 brands in fashion, travel, and luxury. Think upgrades, complimentary hotel nights, early access to sales from The Standard Hotels, Hotel Bel Air, The Webster in Miami, Exhale Spas, Trump Soho, Soho House NYC & Soho Beach House Miami, Classic Car Club, Derek Lam, Chateau Marmont, Calypso St. Barth, Cathay Pacific Airways, and much more.
A complimentary week for every member and their guest at 5-star Kittitian Hill Resort in St Kitts when the property opens this year. That's right, a week in the Caribbean, on us.
A membership to The World's Finest Clubs, granting automatic access to 120 premier nightclubs across five continents.
The ASW Membership Card—designed by Waris Ahluwalia—your ticket to exotic weekend getaways and hundreds of private parties all over the world.
A sleek new advertising-free website, mobile apps, and groups (which make it easier to meet people like you), city guides, a trip planner, and international job and real estate listings.
A chance to make a difference through the new ASMALLWORLD Foundation.

As you may have heard, membership to the new ASW will require a small annual admin fee. Why? It allows us to continue giving you perks like Kittitian Hill, make your experience private and not commercial, and keep the community tightly-knit. We think it’s a small price to pay for something as priceless as trust.

Log in with your ASW credentials to begin.

Warm Regards and Happy Travels,

Sabine Heller Patrick Liotard-Vogt
CEO & President Chairman
