I was in Lisbon a few weeks back. We hit up Urban and it was a massacre. Loads of cute girls but it was blow out after blow out after blow out. Only the ugs or oldies or fatties would even look at you. Plus the music was hideous.

Went to Lux on Sat which was fun, again lots of hotties but I didnt even bother talking to any Portugese. Hooked up with a Polish chick but thats all I could muster.

I really like the city, I think its beautiful, cheap and has a great vibe. Such a shame the girls are ridicolous hard work because otherwise I would 100% want to move there.

Trainwreck I would just go after the tourists and Erasmus students around Barrio Alto. Unless you can get a local girl through social circle I wouldnt bother, my friend told me the same. Have you tried Art on a Sunday night though? Apparently its got lots of hot black chicks if thats your thing.

Lisbon was a nice city when I went there 14 years ago. But I only had success with the Brazilian and African girls there. They were better than portuguese women IMO, so it didnt matter.

I'll definitely be hitting up Lisboa in 2013, maybe in the next couple months. Hopefully it's good to go weather wise.

RE: Lisbon, Portugal
I found Lisbon to be an intriguing city from a historical point of view.

Girls-Hmm. Not so great. Didn't see many girls that really intrigued me. Compare this to Romania, Ukraine or Poland and you'll be seriously disappointed. On the other hand, people in general are very open to helping out foreigners so if you walk around with a map and approach hot women asking about directions and then follow up you can meet them pretty well.

The Hostels I stayed in were great. Supposedly some of the best in the world. Would think that someone with interesting stories and a bit of game could just live from what they find at the hostels although things are often very hit and miss and logistics are a serious problem (other than shower bangs and screwing people with others in the room).

When you head up to the Eiffel's tower, if you walk up the hill you can get to the same viewpoint without having to pay anything.

Prices are refreshing compared to a European Standard but higher than other cities in Portugal. Cheap "Pratos do Dia" in Lisbon were 6-7 Euros. Cheap Pratos do Dia in Porto are 4-5 (found a University Mensa with great food for 2.35). Beer is anywhere between 80 Cents and 1.50 Euro. In northern Italy cheap beer at a bar is 2 Euros and normal beers are 4 Euros.

I'm still here in Portugal but I've moved on to Porto.

RE: Lisbon, Portugal
I just saw this post right now. I am Portuguese and from Lisbon. Everything said in the initial post is correct or at least I can relate to.

Girls are not that pretty but have huge bitch shields. In fact they are so huge that are not bitch anymore, they developed Whore-shielding.

Clubs:
I fucking hate clubs. Every single city I go, I fucking hate clubs, but:
I actually enjoy/tolerate Lux. It has the best music in my opinion.
Urban Beach is good on Wednesdays because it hosts Erasmus Parties. Forget the rest of the days. It is crap.
Plateau is ok. There is little to no reception there. So if a girl is using the mobile phone she is probably bored.
Near Docks, you will find a row of 3-4 clubs (they are always changing names. ask for Ex-Queens, Ex-Indochina). That place is known for "Cabeleireiras" which means Hairdressers (females). You might try your luck there. Probably hotter women, although (really) slutty. Be advised that with hairdressers, your bound to see meatheads. lots of them. Social status is very important.

Bairro Alto /Cais do Sodré:
Bairro is on top, a shitload of bars, great place. I have traveled a lot and still haven't found anything similar. Or as cheap! You can get 75cl of caipirinha/caipiroska for 5€ (take that northern countries!)
There you can find the erasmus corner. Full of foreign students. In my opinion it's a great place.
Cais do Sodré is "down the street". It used to be the old whore place. there are still a few over there (hideous). But people gather in the "pink street"and there are some clubs over there (Europa, Jamaica, Oslo, Music Box, etc). I haven't been there(only Music box, but it was kind of empty) I heard they are quite cool and cheaper than Urban Beach or Lux.
There are 2 bars in this area where posh and pseudo-posh people hang out. One is above the pink street and is called "Stephens". Lots of good talent here. The other is called "Solar da Ribeira" and is a street down from "Pink street" and is located behind "Mercado da Ribeira". Used to have talent, most migrated to Stephens. It has younger people. I would bet sub20's.

Overall Lisbon is one of the prettiest cities in Europe, but female talent lags a lot. Night life is ok, especially if you enjoy drinking on the streets. However huge whoreshielding, blowjob and cum aversion make it not so good for picking up. After living abroad for some time, I would not even look twice to most girls my friends were drooling for...
(and I was like one of the guys that visited estonia and was amazed, and poland, and sweden, and on and on and on)
I was born in the wrong country.

For better quality, and no whoreshielding go to Porto and Aveiro. Northern girls are so much better in everything. I cannot give you info on these cities, because I don't live there, but I know a lot of quality girls from there. And, opposed to lisbon, I actually enjoy their company.

Some additional info:
Unlike other countries, there are almost 0 house parties.
if you want more info, let me know!

RE: Lisbon, Portugal
Unfortunately, Portugal doesn't have too much quality. And a lot of it is now flying away, since a great part of the young people is chosing emigration.

In the southern half of Portugal, the genetic ancestry is more moorish (Arab), sephardic (jewish) and also African. In the north, there is more celtic and nordic genetic ancestry.

So, you will naturally see more beautiful girls in the northwestern part of Portugal. In Douro Litoral and Minho regions mainly. Thus, Porto, Gaia, Braga, Guimarães, Barcelos, Viana do Castelo are some of the cities where you will find better quality.

I found Pepini's portrait particularly accurate in stating that in Portugal the higher is the social status the higher is the quality (i.e. in terms of beauty, because as you may guess rich girls tend to have more futile and spoiled personalities, and maybe this is more noticeable in Portugal since the differences between social classes are big).

He is also pretty much correct saying that game/relationships in Portugal is a very social-circles oriented thing. Quite so.

Regarding you, naughty foreigners who come in to short stays and hence search easier sex and one night stands, I'd say your best chances will be in Coimbra (see the NY Times report). Coimbra is almost exclusively a student town. It has about 100.000 people and it has one of the oldest universities in the world. So, thousands of young students living away from their parents plus the college partying scene and lots of alcohol will increase your chances of getting laid. Thursday is when most students go out at night since a lot of them return to their families' houses on weekends. There are two great annual student fests with some particular old traditions associated: the "Latada" (usually in late October) and the "Queima das Fitas" (in early May). Each one of this fests lasts for a week and all students are partying in the streets, bars and clubs and there is also an additional increment of more students and other young people coming from other parts of the country.

You may also take a look at Braga. Braga has a 150.000 population, also has an university but doesn't have as many students as Coimbra, Lisbon or Porto. But as an advantadge there are lots of young people there, it is indeed statistically one the of the youngest cities in Europe (i.e. higher percentage of young people within its population). Check out Aveiro too.

Lisbon and Porto are the two major cities and also have bigger young student population. The problem is that, in comparison to Coimbra or even Braga, that Lisbon and Porto's students are more sprawled within the cities and without a local guide/wingman the places where they hang out can be harder to spot or you may find that bars and clubs have less students in weekends since those who are from other places usually return to their homes on weekends, as I mentioned before.

I'm not from Lisbon and I never went out at nigh in Lisbon, but I know the city and I know the nightlife is mainly concentrated in two zones:
- Bairro Alto (all kinds of venues in narrow steep old streets where everybody is speaking and drinking mostly out in the street since the bars are tiny and expensive)
- Docas/ Santos /Cais do Sodré zone (close to the port of Lisbon, it was a place of prostitutes and drunk sailors in the old days, but became a zone of trendy bars and clubs in the latest years).

I think Pepini had already said the essential about Portugal and Lisbon in particular.

Hi everyone!

I have recently joined the forum, and since I lived in Lisbon all my life, I would like to make a contribution for Lisbon's data sheet as well.

I think most of the ppl who wrote here are pretty right (and I agree with almost everything that Pepini has said). To sum it up, if you are willing to visit Portugal in order to date pretty Portuguese girls, think carefully about that and read these posts in advance!Smile

RE: Lisbon, Portugal
Leaving Lisbon tomorrow. It's a beautiful city with a layout unlike anything I've seen before. Lots of hills, cobblestone streets, graf, and tons of bars and restos. The girls are atrocious though. Worst I've seen in the western world. I feel bad for Portuguese men. I give props to the ones on this forum for speaking honestly and openly about the lack of chicks in their city. If Roosh's following wasn't predominately North American and European instead, Lisbon would be the equivalent of Toronto or DC, but FAR worse. At least you see fuckable chicks and occasional dymes in the latter two cities.

I haven't seen anything above a 5 since I've been here. Seriously. I haven't seen any cute foreign looking women either. That's never been the case in any of my travels aside from maybe Peru, Ecuador, Chile.

Bairro Alto nightlife completely sucks. It was 80% guys in hoodies (ex. Mark Zuckerberg attire) and chicks you would never think about fucking. Man my attire was so fresh on Friday night it should have been illegal by Lisbon standards. My boy and I could not find a single venue in BA on Friday worth going into. Dead serious.

Cais do Sodre also sucks. Same situation as BA but just older hipsters. No good looking women. None. Even Lux on Friday night had a long line full of guys (no chicks) wearing hoodies, jeans and vans. Apparently they were there to see some German DJ. So the club was full and only the bar was open. We just left. There were no girls to be seen.

On Saturday it was the same shit. My boy who was there gave up and called it a night but I kept hunting to see if maybe there's another neighborhood I don't know about. I walked along 24 de Julio and discovered Art which was a local scene of mostly black Cape Verdeans. The ratio was still terrible but I did see a couple of cute girls. They were with their boyfriends though. Everyone in there knew each other and were rolling in big mixed groups. Nice venue though.

Nonetheless, I don't hate Lisbon at all. And the vibe was so chill and relaxed that I didn't even care about getting laid. I stayed in a nice flat on Rua Fernanda Tomas which in hindsight has the best logistics. 7 min walk to Cais do Sodre, 10 min walk to Bairro Alto and 15 min walk to those spots by Urban Klub (24 de Julio).

Lisbon is very cheap by Western European standards. The food is excellent, especially if you like fish and seafood. Tons of nice little restos in Bairro Alto. I went to In Fusao, Pesticos, and some other local spot. All good meals for under $20 euros (including a beer/wine).

It's also pretty diverse. There's lots of black people from Portugal's former colonies. The locals are very friendly and hospitable. Just a great vibe that's similar to Brazil.

I had wanted to do a day trip to Sintra but I haven't been waking up until later in the afternoon. But I did still go around 6pm and it was really nice. Totally worth a day trip for anyone visiting Lisbon.

This is one place where the consensus is spot on. It's astonishing to me that Spain and Portugal share the same Iberian landmass but one has chicks and the other doesn't.

Kudos to the folks on this thread for all coming to the same conclusion.

Bottom line: Don't come to Lisbon for girls. Come to chill out, enjoy nice meals, check out some views, and bring a chick even. This is one city where you could bring a chick and NOT get distracted Smile

I would not be so dramatic but I completely understand your experience... Friday nights are getting worse and worse in Lisbon.

I think this is due to the crisis, which leads most ppl to only go out on Saturday night.

A place to see gorgeous Portuguese girls is definitely Lux on Saturday night (not so good on Friday and you were unlucky with that concert in the ground floor...), but still, I can guarantee that unless you are a Zegna model with black belt game skills, you won't get a 7, 8 or 9 there...

So there's really not much hope, unless if you come on July or August and try to bang tourist girls. Plenty of them at this time.

Well, I agree comparing Lisbon to Toronto and DC is probably dramatic since I doubt the girls here are "mean" or "feminist."

But there are not 7s, 8s, and 9s in Lisbon.

I went to Lux on Saturday real early around midnight and no one was there. The bouncer said maybe in an hour or so it might get busy but they were doing some kind of membership thing that night. He said I could still check it out though. I wasn't too keen after I saw a couple of fuglies walking in.

Last night I checked out Art again. The rest of the city was completely dead (BA, CDS, and the rest of 24 de Julio). I rolled there around 1am and it had a good amount of people. Nice venue and good music. Some cute Cape Verdean girls as well. It's a heavy social circle kind of scene but it's the only decent venue I've found in Lisbon. Good place to drink and listen/dance to some music.

Anyway, like I said, I still dig Lisbon for other reasons. I'm actually still in Portugal. Leaving tomorrow now. I just got back from Cascais. That place is NICE! I'm very glad I got to see it before I leave. Changed my impression of Portugal.

How come no one has talked about Cascais? I was impressed. I think it's even nicer than Sintra because of the beaches. It had a southern Italy/Greek island type of feel. Very modern and developed infrastructure, beaches, boats, palm trees, and great weather. It reminded me a lot like San Diego or Vina del Mar in Chile. It even has a casino. I could see it being a nice fallback getaway/second home type of spot for an older guy. Probably some nice girls slide through during the summer months.

I also had a solid lunch at Balcalhoeiro. Definitely recommend it. The meal below and some coffee afterwards altogether came out to 15 euros. Damn cheap.

RE: Lisbon, Portugal
I think there's some guys on the forum who would be interested in a place like Cascais. I was curious about nightlife potential. It seems pretty quiet but if girls are out there in the summer then that's a perfect spot to be.

I agree with you about the Euro crisis' effects on Lisbon. The guy who I rented my flat from actually lives in London. He moved there for better economic prospects. I also met a couple of bankers seated next to me at Balcalhoeiro. We had a pretty good discussion about the situation there. I would think most young people with any sort of ambition have left that place by now.

I wish I knew about Tascaderos. Rave reviews online. Michelin just PM'd me saying Balcalhoeiro is his fav resto in Lisbon.

I wonder how conducive Lux is for pickup. 3am is kinda late for a club to just get started. I do like the late nightlife hours in general though. Art didn't close until 6am. My kind of nightlfie.

A Portuguese friend of mine used to sleep before going clubbing. I kid you not. He would wake up at, say, 3 am, take a shower, get dressed, and take a cab to some club. He would party at the club until it closed, and then he would go to the beach in the morning.

You had some badluck Hen! It's not a good season and the weather doesn't improve too, believe us when we say there are some hidden beauties here! You had plain bad luck, bairro alto nightlife doesn't always suck. But currently considering the university season you were bound to find the lowlifes there man!
But about the other factors, you said what I would expect you to say ahaah!

And the summer is THOUSANDS of times better for EVERYTHING you wanted, especially the females..!

I don't think I missed out after seeing what others have said on this thread. There seems to be uniform consensus about Portugal from those who are not from there. Though I will say I could see that summertime is probably better. But that goes for most places in Europe. With all the options to consider, I wouldn't recommend someone visit Lisbon for women and nightlife.

But I like the place for many other reasons. The diversity and friendliness of the people is among the nicest I've seen anywhere.

Yeah Lux didnt get really pumping until around 4am when I was there but its open until 8am or so. There were definitely hot Portugese and tourists chicks there though and also good music. However, it was still no walk in the park.

I wouldn't recommend Lisbon for women and nightlife either, but take my word on the fact that you had some badluck regarding your sights, even if they are at all not my type for many reasons, especially personality, I have to admit now and then that we have some hidden gems Wink!

RE: Lisbon, Portugal
Looks like I'll be coming to Lisbon in Mid March and staying for about 4 days or so. Not sure what to make of all the info but I'm going with low expectations of women, high expectations of good food, and I'm gonna try my luck in some of the higher end venues and see what holds.

If anyone is around, definitely PM me and lets try and link.

RE: Lisbon, Portugal
Hi guys, I'm also from Lisbon and I totally have to agree with the majority of Pepini's and Franck Mackey's statements. I wouldn't say that there are only 5's and 6's here, there are a quite a few 7's and 8's if you look carefully. Yes it is quite dificult to score portuguese chicks, lately I think that 90% of my approaches are for foreign chicks cause I dont really have the patience to seduce portuguese snob chicks ( in the night) anymore. And yes , it does get better in the Summer and if you go to other cities in Portugal you will find it easier to hook up.

I do have a theory though, I think that the majority of the guys that live here are quite decent looking (http://www.travelersdigest.com/267-best-looking-men/2/) which make it harder to stand out between everyone. The guys here have such an agressive gaming ( even with ugly chicks ) that the bitch shield is stupidly and unrealiesticlly high. I have been to more than 10 different countries in Europe and its just fucking easy to pick up girls anywhere else. It's like I always say: imagine that you're playing FIFA, when you're playing in Portugal it's Super Professional mode, when you go outside it feels like playing in amateur mode".

Anyways that's just my opinion Smile

Oh indeed, Black Joker guy is right, I've said this before too. Portuguese women, let's say it bluntly, are simply TOO ARROGANT for the level they possess, you have for a 7 here as much as you would to work for a russian 9 or whatever. Insanity. Not worth it!

RE: Lisbon, Portugal
Well, it seems everyone agrees here on this issue of Portuguese guys looking much better than girls generally - hence leading to increase bitch shields in nightlife and other seduction spots.

It's rather funny that in my group of friends, whenever I explain this theory, people think it is very outstrechted, whereas here this is considered complete common sense!
