On the other hand there are people with lots of money, wanting in bitcoin deep.

700BTC*450USD = 315 000 USD in one trade, thats gotta be above most basement traders.

Pretty much what I figured.

I'm sure it was El Chapo or Hussein Obama taking bitcoins off the market. Could be The Fed.

If any of you recall the multiple postings regarding Peter Schiff, and his negativisms regarding bitcoin, well now it seems that Schiff has come over to bitcoin. His gold site is NOW accepting bitcoins. In other words, he seems to have converted from a bear into a bull or at least from a bear into a not bear. Smile

Back over 500 - sweet!

I can see this rally taking the price up to about 660 during June.

Bitcoin prices have been fairly exciting over the last few weeks to go from the mid $400s to the upper $500s. I was within about 1% of being back in the black, since my average buy in price is now $595.

I certainly have missed a few opportunities, including buying more coins in the $350 range. I ran out of fiat in that day or so that the price floated in that range.

I am hoping that BTC prices stay below $600 for the next 4-6 weeks b/c I am expecting to receive quite a bit more fiat, but I am NOT exactly sure about the amount or the date(s) that I will have full access to that money.

Therefore, I will be selling that fiat for the BTCs.

Another possibility would be to leverage, but I am worried about leveraging, just in case the fiat does NOT come through and just in case BTC prices go down, rather than up.... though BTC prices do seem very posed for a further upswing.... I was just hoping and praying that the BTC choo choo train/rocket holds off long enough for me to get my grubby little hands on that fiat and to make my additional BTC purchase(s).

RE: The Bitcoin thread (formerly "Bitcoins up 60% in less than a month")
In the last month, my bitcoin portfolio has gone from 25% in the red to 10% in the black, and the rally upward seems to be ongoing.

It sure is nice being in the black again; however, I was expecting several receipts of fiat in the upcoming weeks, and I would have liked to have used that fiat for the purchase of bitcoin at lower prices.

Likely, I am still going to use the fiat to buy bitcoin, although how I apportion and time the purchase(s) may vary depending upon how quickly and how far these BTC prices continue to rise.

AS I stated several times before in this thread, I continue to believe that any BTC prices below $1,000 are a great value... yet I do NOT proclaim to know exactly where bitcoin prices are going - even though I see BTC prices going up rapidly.

I am also considering my various profit takings planning, too. Because BTC prices are going up so fast, I believe that I have to have a plan to take profits upon certain price points within a predetermined plan. My tentative plan is to potentially use up to 10% of my profit BTC for trading while I am in the black at approximately 15% intervals, and I will rake out, approximately 20% (probably my whole investment amount) if BTC prices are 4X my investment costs. Currently, for me, that raking of all my investment amount would take place at around $2400 per BTC. I expect several crashes before prices reach that $2400 level.

The next resistance level I expect will be $660. Think it might be stuck there for a bit.

(06-02-2014 05:23 PM)JJ Roberts Wrote:  Wow, $660 already. Lets see if my prediction is true.

We should already realize by now that BTC prices in the short-term are largely controlled by various whales and manipulators. Certainly, such whales cannot control all BTC price momentum, and sometimes these various BTC buying/selling whales are likely to conflict with one another.

In any event my point is that the prediction of any resting point for BTC prices in the $630s, $660s, or $680s is NOT really knowable and somewhat a creature of luck. For example, it cannot be known with very much certainty whether some big investor will attempt to get in or to get out of BTC this week or the following week, which could change the dynamics regarding whether or where BTC prices rest or whether or the extent to which the prices rise or fall during that period to some other resting point.

In recent weeks there seems to be quite a bit of renewed price action... especially upward price pressures, so I have quite a few doubts that BTC prices will remain in this $650 to $670 range for any more than a few days, at most. Surely, I could be wrong, but there seems to be a lot of interest and volatility recently, based on some of this increased interest in BTC.

In this regard, there seems to be a few big actors that are attempting to push BTC prices in one direction or another; however, we also seem to be getting quite a bit of new BTC airplay with new BTC investors coming into the BTC space on a daily basis and the reintroduction of fiat that had been sitting on the sidelines for four months or more.

Therefore, I have my doubts about staying in a $650 to $670 price range for very long - even though we may find gravitations back to the mid $600s over the duration of June.

Nonetheless, as I inferred in my posting above, I would like BTC prices to stay in this $600 price range for a while or to go lower than $600.. until I can receive some fiat that I am expecting soon. I remain uncertain about the exact amount or the exact timing, but expecting that I will be able to expand my BTC holdings fairly significantly in the coming months, based on this receipt of fiat. Therefore I would NOT mind stagnating in some lower BTC prices for a little bit longer.

If there is a train or a rocket, then I may have to reconsider how to invest.. but if there is stagnation, I am fairly certain that I would invest the whole lump into BTC.

I was wondering about you, El Mech, and thinking that you would be approximately back in the black by now, so long as you did NOT sell your BTC stash, too early. It's been a long 3 months for BTC prices to be in the sub $600s. I was in the red for four months with my stash, but I brought my average BTC price down from nearly $800s per BTC to below $600 during that time.... so I am feeling pretty well in the black... even though it is difficult to time the arrival of new fiat (so I could have had some better luck in that regard)... and crossing my fingers for the arrival of a new sizable fiat stash.

If Apple gets involved here we'll see 1000+ BTC again soon as the hipsters will start buying it with their parents money.

Yeah, and naysayers assert that bitcoin is NOT real money, when in fact you have bought a little pleasure with yours.

I'm having some serious white people problems right now. I wanted to make the bike a three speed but profile BMX discontinued their cassette hubs. WTF!!!! What the hell am I going to do now??? Buy one of those heavy SRAM hubs? I can't stand the thought of adding that pound or so and they don't come anodized red. FML!!

NMC will double. Buy some and share profits with me.

Can't hardly help you with your bike crap, except maybe to suggest that there may be some kits with other venders or even ebay or amazon as possibilities.. you never know.

Regarding the alt coins. I am kind of sick of getting screwed by them. All they do is go down. Maybe they are at all time lows, and some of them are going to go up, but there seems to be little to no long term, with a large number of the alts.

It is possible that a few of them do have a future, but too difficult to keep track for me. I think for now, I am going to stick with the conservative bitcoin is where its at, and for the quasi long term. Additionally, bitcoin is on the precipice of explosion, so maybe you want to take some of the equivalent of your bike proceeds and to reinvest into BTC... cash out around $2k or $3k per BTC...
