RE: The NBA Thread
It does beg the question as to who's the greatest player ever, Jordan or Lebron. I would have said Jordan but after last night I'm not so sure. Jordan always had Pippen and a strong supporting cast but Lebron has taken Cleveland to the final pretty much all by himself the last two years. I know Lebron hasn't won as many as Jordan but still.

They are not comparable, both are all-time greats who can stand on the same mountian top.

Jordan was an elite scorer and competitor. He faced tougher competition and any chance he had to win it all, he did it.

Lebron will his garbage team to the Finals but they may be scrap meat for either the Sharks of Golden State or Houston to consume. Cavs team will be the price in the finals and get destroyed. Lebron should steal one game because he is still the best player on the floor evrey night but the team will get picked apart by either Western team.

Was any team the Bulls faced as good as the current day Warriors though? I cant see a team like the Jazz beating the current day Warriors.

Thing with the Warriors though is that they are a great team in an era where the physical aspect of the game has been drastically reduced, thus allowing them to play the type of game that they do. The Bulls had to get through teams like Detroit with their bad boys like Laimbeer and Rodman, the Knicks, and Jazz, all very physical teams with styles that are basically outlawed in today's game. I think Lebron would have done just fine in that era but guys like Steph Curry I'm not so sure. Plus to win the very first championship, the Bulls had to beat the Lakers with Magic, Kareem etc.

Yeah, fucking 2 for 12 from the 3-point line in the final quarter while trailing... If they'd drove the paint, they would've pulled off the "W".

They piss me off. Jerks.

Agree with almost everything here except the last sentence. Kareem was already retired by 1991 and Magic was on the downside of his career (his HIV diagnosis came six months later). The first championship was the easiest of all six.

Yeah as I wrote my post, I wasn't sure if Kareem had retired by then, thanks for the correction. Hard to argue with a guy with an avatar of a player from my favorite hockey team (even if it is an avatar of Sergei Krivokrasov).

Forget about the argument of the better player out if MJ and Lebron, who is the worse GM? The Cleveland front office makes all of the moves Lebron asks them to make(Love) so now he has no supporting cast.

Jordan hasn’t really done much for the Charlotte hornets. Both amazing players but terrible with player personnel and building a franchise

Great series. It reminded me a lot of the Kings-Lakers battle back in 02. Even though the Rockets were hungrier and looked like the better team most of the time, you just had the feeling the warriors would pull it out in the end.

Didn't both Game 7's reek a bit of a rig job? LOL. I mean just imagine the amount of revenue that the NBA is ensuring & protecting by having King James, Steph Curry & Kevin Durant return to the Finals.

The commissioner mighta had them install special magnets in the hoop that would deflect the ball from going in. Too much $$$ on the line to risk letting the Rockets defeat the Warriors. LOL.

Do you all think whether or not the Cavs win the chip will have an impact on whether or not LeBron James bolts this summer?

RE: The NBA Thread
Celtics were great these playoffs, and a vet go-to guy like Kyrie would have made the difference in that game seven fourth quarter when they couldn't buy a bucket. He had been that difference for the Cavs before.

Rockets-Warriors would have been very different if Luc and CP3 weren't hurt.

If Iggy stays out the Cavs have a shot to take a game or two, but when the Warriors are back at full strength it looks like it'll shape up to be a massacre. The Cavs can no longer rely on slowing the pace and playing Curry physical with Durant in the lineup, the Warriors will still get reliable buckets from KD all game long. I don't see any options for them.

If Lebron keeps up the way he has been playing he should get FMVP even if the Cavs get slaughtered. This has been the best playoff carry I've ever seen.

Funny thing is the ideal team situation for him next year would be the Celtics. Sign and trade him for Kyrie, Morris, and the Kings pick.

Lebron
Hayward
Tatum
Jaylen Brown
Horford

Rozier, Smart, and Baynes off the bench. Bring another trophy to Boston and troll the shit out of Kyrie in the process.

It was a great series to me because I won a lot of money first and foremost...but a Game 7 between two of the historically best offenses in the league, don't know what else you can ask for.

That said, the play was definitely ugly at times and the Warriors were basically coasting most of the time until they turned it up when it mattered.

It's a shame to me that most of the people in my generation now think LBJ is on the same level as MJ.

LBJ is #2 in my book... statistically they are close, but when you factor in MJ's competitive greatness, his clutch scoring, and the fact he had two separate three-peats, it's just not close. MJ basically won 6 years in a row if you remove the half-season in 95. He played against way tougher competition in the East, as well. The Bad boys, Celtics, and the Knicks and Pacers were no joke compared to the East LBJ has faced.

Also, they have similar stats despite the fact that NBA stats are WAY more inflated these days due to the rules, officiating and the pace of play.

People get caught up in the moment, but when the dust settles, anyone who watched Jordan growing up knows that MJ vs. LBJ isn't that close.
