Mitch looks like Jack playing the Joker. Uncanny resemblance, and appropriate for a Lakers rout. Everything burns!

No.
Been a fan for quite a while and this is a trend in Raptor basketball.
I will never take them seriously unless they trade/draft a real superstar.

Kobe done for the year. Not like he was doing much this year or expected to, but it is official he is done.

First: No-one talking about Phil Jackson's return? Steve Kerr to be the new Knicks coach?

I don't think the whole Carmelo to LA think makes sense with kobe around...although we've seen that Kobe can take on a 18pts 10 ast 8 rbs type of role, and turn it up when need be. They'd still need a regular point guard, mainly to guard the other PG, and kobe plays PG/ball handler on offense.

And Kobe taking the rest of the season off makes total sense. I still don't begrudge him making the early comeback this year, but now it's pointless at 19-39.

Anyone see Andrew Bynum put up 8 points and 10 boards in 15 minutes? Dude has been getting way too little credit. If he can stay healthy, then he is very difficult to guard. Can't blame for Cleveland either, that place is the worst run franchise in the NBA.

I was downgrading my expectation of Pacers, but with Bynum playing 15-20, I see Miami having a lot of difficulty on the low post and also getting rebounds.

Bynum is the best centre in the league WHEN healthy. The boy is huge and a true low post player. I like Roy too but Bynum might have an edge.
Roy Hibbert shoots very well though and is money from the stripe however.

Rockets and Bulls are the only two reasonable landing places I have heard of for Melo.

Jackson very well may end up being good in the office, but I don't see Melo staying around long enough to see the NYK dumpster fire put out.

Dirk Nowitzki is an incredible player..

Was watching his Finals Run

How is a human being that tall able to do the things he does with a basketball..

Dude literally started from the bottom, was hated on non-stop, clowned on by his peers as being soft, personal troubles, the list goes on,

But In the end the guy wins a ring for the one team he played for all career against the Miami Lebrons,

Just would be sick if he somehow wins another ring this year..

I was discussing this with friends when the word came down that Phil was taking the job. I don't know how his coaching acumen will translate to the front office. His gift is working with players hands-on, getting into their heads and using them to their strengths. The key for any franchise is having a philosophy that comes from the top down, so that means Dolan has to get out of the way, sign checks, and shut the fuck up. If he does that, this has a chance of working. I actually see Melo staying in NY. He gets a bad rap - it's easy to blame the star and most talented player when things go wrong. He isn't the bad character he's made out to be, and he isn't a selfish player. He gets the "ball-stopper" label, but tell me, who the fuck is he supposed to pass to on this team? He's rebounded well, AND he's often forced to bring the ball up and initiate the offense as the either small or power forward. If they put some decent talent around him, and an actual offense, he'll have no problem passing the ball. I like the idea of him having access to Phil full-time. This is what he does best - help talented players take that next step. He just needs to decide what kind of team the Knicks are going to be, and how they're going to go about it. That means a coach (maybe Kerr) that is in line with his philosophies. I also hope this brings Walt Frazier into the fold also. He works for the team, yet no coach has allowed him to get involved with the players and impart some wisdom. With his former teammate as boss, maybe he'll be allowed some involvement.

RE: The NBA Thread
Dirk's awesome. I never understand the hate for him. He's not soft. He's a bit skinny compared to the others, but he takes the hits, and the triple teams...and in the end - he won a ring.

He's one of the most clutch players out there. Plus he seems like a very legit all round guy.

Personally I most enjoy watching players who play like Kobe-Dirk than the high flying dunk types. By that I mean excellent footwork, playing with the back to the rim, playing from the elbow, and extremely good and clutch shooting skills. That's what makes basketball America's "beautiful game" and an artform. That and the Steve Nash type passes from back in the day.

RE: The NBA Thread
Losing in the '06 Finals, and then losing to the 8 seed Golden State Warriors in the first round the very next season (only the 3rd time in league history that a 1 seed lost to an 8) transformed Dirk. It steeled him mentally. I think his game WAS a little soft before then, and defenders were able to take him off his game by being physical with him. Those two humiliations changed both is game AND his mental makeup. I was truly happy for him when he answered the call in the 2011 Finals. Dirk's a good dude, and I want to see guys like him respond and get redemption.

The '06 Finals Flash show is the only reason really why I don't 100% root against the Heat.

@timoteo

Agree those setbacks really made him realize that he can't let ppl punk him on the court, was frustrating watch captain jack and b diddly clown him that series
He really developed that mean streak needed for a player of his caliber

Basketball, in it's present form, reminds me of it's slam dunk competition. If you see the same thing over and over, after a bit, it loses it's lustre.

No, I don't want to see Lebron featured all of the time. And yes, I do want to see guys learn how to shoot again.

Indiana.

You are preaching to a 'Cuse alumni and Denver resident. I'm all for Melo. I think NYK is doomed because of their books. There is no possible way for them to become a contender during Melo's next contract period, and I think Melo knows that now. Having him in Chicago would be pretty lethal. I am not sure how he would fit in Houston though... those dudes act like a bunch of college students.
