This has been the on glaring flaw for me about the NBA. Stern is deep with the BS as far as fixing things, and Its quite obvious the Lakers are getting a lot of help lately.

Ok, the Blazers game was bad, and where Kobe fouled Rubio was bad, but everything else, that shit just happens in the NBA. I bet you can find a ton of shitty calls against the Lakers as well. Think about how many games they've played this season? Some of those calls were bad, but like I said, go back through the season and look at bad calls that have gone the other way. It's just bound to happen through out a 82 game season to have some real bad calls. I don't think there's a giant Lakers conspiracy going on here.

Some would argue that the draft lottery is definitely rigged especially with the way things turned out with New Orleans(league owned at the time) getting the top pick. The funny thing was Anthony Davis was pictured with a Hornets hat on 2 weeks before the lottery with Washington and Cleveland having better odds. Conspiracy theorists had a field day with that one.

Shit, what about that dirty ass no deal trade with CP3 last year for the Lakers.

Kosko, I watched that video again, and those kings calls were really bad too, I gotta give you that. Didn't realize it was the last 30 seconds of the game.

Yeah, that pissed off a lot of people. The owners basically bitched to Stern about competitive balance, which in turn saw him cave in and gutlessly veto the trade. Competitve balance will never be achieved in the NBA especially with so many teams, so it was weird to hear money hungry owners cry about the fairness of the trade. Small market teams are especially screwed unless they draft well, so getting stars is a moot point for them since they almost never sign them via free agency.

Yeah, "competitive balance," the year after you trade Chris Bosh and Lebron James to Dwayne Wade's Heat. That makes a lot of sense.

RE: The NBA Thread
The Miami situation was different since Bosh and LeBron were unrestricted free agents (nothing the league could do to stop them). CP3 to Lakers was a trade and blocking that trade was bullshit in my opinion, still.

Regarding the "fix" being in and all that, come on. Everyone can tell from my previous posts in this thread that I am no Lakers or Kobe fan. And given that Kings Lakers series was fixed, I still don't believe that there is a league wide conspiracy to fix the games. This does not dispute the fact that superstars get calls but that's a separate argument altogether.

Now if you wanna talk about poor officiating and what the league should do to fix it (no pun intended), that's a different discussion as well.

And yes, you can find plenty of calls going against LA or Miami this year too. Primary example being the Kobe game in Atlanta where he whined about Dahntay Jones fouling him. Lakers were down by 2 and 2 FTs would have tied the game but the refs did swallow their whistle on the play.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, the league fixes games for the Lakers. The funny thing about this is the same people who swear that games are fixed for the Lakers, are the same people who are noticeably SILENT when officiating goes against the Lakers.

I didn't hear anybody complaining about officiating after this game and I can argue this game actually cost the Lakers the championship in '08:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IUtf6-avo2c

As for the 02 Kings/Lakers series, watch Gms 2, 3 & 5 and tell me what you see in regards to officiating. As a matter of fact, look up the boxscore freethrow disparities between the Kings and Lakers in that series and tell me what you see.

The one game in the series that went in the Lakers favor is somehow evidence of a fix, right? Everything that happened up to that game that went against the Lakers doesn't matter, no?

Gotta love Laker haters.

In the meantime, we have a very important game vs the Mavs tonight. They're playing well, so if we lose this one we can kiss the playoffs goodbye.

Yep, I was just gonna say, we only have a handful of games left, and very few of them are going to be easy games. So I guess if anyone really thinks there's a Lakers conspiracy, you'll see it in the next couple weeks. We've fallen to 9th in the west after Utah's won 5 games straight. We have a lot of work to do. I hope they can step up their game and make it to the playoffs.

@ Jules, not sure if you are referring to me as a Laker hater but I did say that I don't believe that there is a conspiracy to fix games and put the Lakers into the playoffs.

Regarding the Kings-Lakers series, there is no doubt that it was fixed. Not only because Tim Donaghy admitted to this but it wasn't just one game that was fixed but come on that entire series the officiating was biased. One of the most enduring things that I will never forget from that series is Kobe elbowing Mike Bibby in the face and being awarded two FTs.

But other than that, I don't think there is a league wide conspiracy to fix games.

RE: The NBA Thread
The Slayer, I wasn't calling you a Laker hater, I was pointing out the hypocrisy of Laker haters when it comes to officiating. There have been several games where officiating did not go in the Lakers favor and I've noticed that Laker haters are noticeably silent when that occurs.

In regards to the Kings/Lakers series, I used to believe it was fixed because that's what I was told by the media and non-Laker fans(I was 12 years old at the time). That was until a friend of mine pointed out that the Kings actually shot more freethrows than the Lakers in that series! So I decided to go on YouTube in my freetime a few years ago and watch the entire series start to finish to see for myself. It turned out that my friend was right.

Take a look at the freethrow disparities between the two teams game-by-game:
http://www.basketball-reference.com/boxs...80SAC.html

How was the series fixed for the Lakers?

If there was a fix, it must've been the league trying to push the series to 7 games by any means necessary to maintain the high ratings the series generated, which means that games for both teams were fixed. Tim Donaghy never specified whether the series was fixed for either team.

There is no way you can argue that series was fixed for the Lakers when evidence shows you otherwise.

I remember the Kobe elbow play. Mike Bibby wrapped him up(which is actually a foul) and Kobe elbowed him(mistakenly or not) to break free. The foul wasn't called on Bibby, it was called on Doug Christie who actually did intentionally foul Kobe, thus sending him to the freethrow line.

Shaq just retired his jersey at staples. As soon as he thanked Phil the whole crowd chanted "We want Phil!". Jim buss is such an idiot for not hiring him.

That was awesome and you're 100% right. Lakers looking good at the half. How about Melo with 50 pts. tonight?

Hard to put much stock in it since Bron and DWade didn't play. As of late Melo, doesn't do well against Bron(including last yrs playoffs), but owns Battier so it was easy to see this coming. Melo really fell out of running for the MVP though.

Can't believe the Lakeshow is still fighting for their playoff lives right now. Huge win tonight.

50 pts is 50 pts. Remember that same team without lebron and wade beat the spurs the last game they played.

How about that triple double from Kobe! Lakers play so much better when he facilitates opposed to scoring 40 pts.

True, but its the end of the season and these guys are just really for the playoffs to start they don't really get up for these matchups, especially if opposing stars aren't playing. That probably(Heat's B team beating Spurs) wouldn't happen in the playoffs just saying. On the other hand the Spurs still have work to do to get home court so maybe you're right.

This is the site I always use while at work, traveling, or when games aren't on cable in my area as well. It's legit, though streams don't ALWAYS work, but it's rare they don't.

I see. For me the streams always work. The reason is that each game usually has multiple links. If one stream doesn't work you can always try other links.

Being in Canada, this site is a life-saver. We only get the few nationally televised games (the TNT Thursdays and ABC Sundays usually). Other than that, Raptors games are being shoved down our throats and it's difficult to find a lot of the nationally televised games that you can see in the US. Fuck the Raptors. Many games that are televised on NBA TV and ESPN are not shown here (to protect viewership for the Raptors).

I am just thankful to our corporate overlords here that they show the playoffs at least.

Fuck man, all those pop ups kill me. The games work for me 98% of the time to be honest, almost always. Sometimes the problem is also that the game will freeze up often and I can't deal with that, but maybe it's my computer or something. Even though there may be 8 links, I've found that only a few work a lot of times. But usually the first always works and has the best quality. Regardless, the site is a life saver and I give it high praise.

Do you have ad-block installed on your browser? I get no pop-ups and the site is extremely smooth for me. Just go on, click on the game, and it streams seamlessly. The real question is: why don't you have ad block installed?

Man, install ad block right away. No wonder you get the pop-ups and sometimes your streams don't work. With ad block that site basically becomes a your NBA league pass with no pop-ups and smooth streaming. It's basically watching TV with no ads. Ad block is good if you watch a lot of videos and shows and whatever online.

If you're using Firefox: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox...lock-plus/

CHrome: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detai...idom?hl=en

If you are still using IE, download either one of those two right away. Personally, I am on firefox.
