He will score a lot, have a few highlight reel plays (per usual), a couple screaming matches with Byron Scott

Lakers record? 37-45

I don't think anyone questions Kobe as a player, it's the toxic effect on his team that's his issue. While he's still good, now that he's no longer MVP material no one is sticking around to take his shit. LA can't be a winning team again until they've purged themselves of him.

or until he finally accepts his veteran role like many greats have.

also....does anybody do sports betting? I'm really just wondering what the future odds are on teams going to the finals. Throwing a few bills this early in the season will make it interesting. If the grizz aren't favored....could be some big money.

RE: The NBA Thread
People said "Kobe needs to accept he's past it" the last full season he played. He was putting MVP numbers and performances nightly then. The Lakers were a top team in the league after the a-star break after Dwight had recovered from his injury sufficiently.

If you can't put in the work on Kobe's level, that's bad on you. I can't wait til Dwight Howard comes out as a feminist.

How does Pau Gasol, whom so many people call "soft", love Kobe? Kobe recognized his skills and worked with him. Kobe was even putting up 19p/12a a night to get wins.

He'll be back tonight, put on a show, and the Lakers will have a blockbuster trade/move either around the All Star break or this offseason.

Lol Kobe's days as an MVP candidate are done. He's 36 and coming off two major injuries. He's more likely to be Wizards' MJ than Kobe from 2013. I want to see him play well but as Barkley always says, "Father time is undefeated".

Kobe will put up 20 plus a game no doubt, although what kind of shooting percentages he is gunna put up along side those numbers is really gunna tell us how much he has left in him. The guy is tough for sure.

MY DETROIT PLAYAS, what do you expect from your Pistons this year? Gotta figure Stan the Man can mould something around Drummond in time, that guy is a fucking stud. I see him leading the league in rebounding this year.

That chart Professor Fox just posted speaks mostly to a testament of Dirk's greatness and longevity in the league. Mavericks are a fun team to watch.

Also, any of you guys play 2k on Xbox One? PM me with your gamertag if you fancy a game sometime.

I see the Pistons being a .500 team, but I think you're right Drummond is going to be a force for years to come

Plan to attend a few games this year to see them up close, should be a blast!

Also plan on seeing the Bulls quite a bit too. Finger's crossed for D Rose and I feel like all across the board the parity in the league will give us some surprise teams in April/May/June

^^^ and to add I really think Kentavious Caldwell Pope will have a breakout year for us! Could be our SG for the future.

I don't think we will be a .500 team but we should win 35-40 games.

I think you'll do a little better than 35-40. I'm thinking .500 at least. I think your a sleeper for a 6th seed in the East. Its wide open like it has been every year and with the leap I expect Drummond to make this year under Stan, anything is possible.

I really like KCP also, you've done a nice job of surrounding Drummond with complentary shooters ala Dwight's Orlando. My concerns are Smoove and Jennings. Jenning is appauling in my opinion, I'd like to see you just scrap him in favour of Augustin (criminally underrated) really. Jennings is a black hole defensively and his shot selection is abominal.

Smoove just needs to do what Smoove does best, rebound, make defensive plays and finish round the rim of which he is statistically one of the leagues elite.

I assume Monroe is gunna walk at the end of the year, just gotta hope Drummond keeps progressing and you can continue to put pieces around that monster 275 frame as the years go by.

I'm a Sixers guy, our opening night line up projects to be something like

PG: Wroten
SG: McDaniels
SF: Thompson
PF: Noel
C: Sims

I agree KCP should have a great year since he loves to bomb from deep and he's got the quickness and instincts to be a very good defender and get to the rim. He doesn't have huge upside and he shot some very ghastly percentages last year, but if summer league is any indication he improved a ton(albeit he still shot poorly). I could see him holding down the SG spot in Detroit for awhile, since it's not like that's a very deep position in the league anyway.

I wouldn't be surprised if J Smooth balls out as well. Word on the street is that Stan Van had a talk with him about how he won't be given as much leeway and that Stan will have him operating closer to the basket this year, but we shall see.

Anthony Davis dropped 26 points, 17 rebounds, nine blocks, three steals, two assists, one foul and zero turnovers in 36 minutes.

Can't believe I didn't include him as a player who will take it to the next level

He has ascended.

I'm def going to watch him if he comes to the palace.....while gaming some broads of course

Looking forward to this new exciting season!
What do you guys think of the chances of the Spurs to repeat as Champs, or at the very least, be in the Finals again this coming season?
And what do you think that Brom Brom is going to do with the Cavs?

I think the Wizards will be the second-best team in the East this year.

I bandwagoned on them last year in the playoffs, and I think that they will be a serious threat to the Cavaliers and Bulls.

I think my spurs chances are extremely high. My Rockets just need to get past the blazers or the Clippers, then we will see how good they can be.

Mavs were the most underrated team last year. They were the toughest challenge for the Spurs. They were the second best team in the playoffs.

They are similarly the most underrated team this year. Once Dirk gets firing and they get Felton back, that's an extremely stacked back court and wings.

RE: The NBA Thread
Something to watch for this season is how underrated the East will be as a conference. For the betting types, I can see that the publics opinion is going to push lines to be strongly in favor of Western Conference teams when they match up with the East. Obviously teams like Orlando, Milwaukee, Boston and Philadelphia will be bad, but I feel like the other teams will be able to compete with the West. Indiana and Detroit in particular are two teams I can see stepping up and being a lot more competitive than everyone thinks. I can't see SVG coaching a shitty team, and even though it'll be a struggle for Indiana to score consistently, if George Hill can be half of Paul George, they can be what the Bulls were the last couple of years.

RE: The NBA Thread
Bulls will beat the Cavs in the Eastern Finals IF DRose is "healthy" [no big injuries, 90% of old DRose]. Gasol is a huge pickup. Deng is a big loss, but that inside is stacked, plus Taj Gibson off the bench.

The Cavs will cause problems with small ball once again [LBJ at 4, Love at 5] but unless Blatt is some breakout coach, TT will outcoach him considerably. His defensive sets in the 4th quarter will shut down the Cavs.

Obviously it is way too early to actually call anything.

Outside of the arguable comma splice, that is your first complete sentence I've seen on RVF.
