With the Clippers advancing the Golden State Warriors just let out a huge sigh of relief. You have to figure that they are the odds on favorite to win the west now.

RE: The NBA Thread
Major props to the Clippers and above all to one of the best players of this generation, CP3. Chapeau Chris!

He finally gets a shot at going deep in the playoffs, hoping he'll make the most of it!

As a Spurs fan, what disappoints me most was that the Spurs could have and should have closed this series off easily on game 6. Key mistakes in that game that cost them the series were:

- playing soft in the first half.
- making too many turnovers.

Pop should have used the hack a Jordan tactic in Q3 and Q4, which he didn't at all, unexplainably in game 6.

Now, in Game 7, it came down to a couple of misses. Parker, with an uncontested lay up miss with about 2 minutes left with the Spurs leading by 2 or 3. That miss was huge.

Sad to see the Spurs go home that early, but in all honestly, they only have themselves to blame for. Yes, the fact that they had a bad start of the regular season didn't help them and after that, they had a lot of ground to make up. Yes they did go on an impressive run at the end of the regular season, but still, lost stupidly to the Knicks, Pistons and that game at home against the Cavs, that they had in the pocket had it not been for Kawhi missing 3 crucial free throws in the last 30 seconds of regulation. Those losses, which could have and should have been easy wins, were the difference between finishing at 2 spot versus 6. As a 2nd seed, they would have been already in the conference finals by now.

Hoping that in the off season, they retain Kawhi and convince Timmy to continue. As much s I love Manu, it's time for him to return to Argentina and for the Spurs to bring in a replacement for him. Perhaps Tony and Bobo can convince Gobert of Utah to join them in SA. He'd blossom under Pop like nowhere else!

Time to get everyone back and next season, not make the same mistakes and the same bad start of the season!

The Spurs are going to be back next year, stronger, fresher and hungrier than ever! Despite what all these so called clowns of pundits claiming that they are done. No, the Spurs are not done! They maybe done for this season, but next season, it will be business as usual for the Spurs!

For the remainder of the season, I'll be for the Clips, mainly for CP3 as he deserves a shot at the title.

This is the second straight year a guy has won Defensive Player of The Year, and then had no impact whatsoever on the defensive end of the floor in a first round defeat.

Creepin,
I know you are laughing and partying hard now at the Spurs loss, but I'm sure I'll do the same when Brom Brom gets his ass handed down to him soon by either the Bulls or the Hawks! Wink

On a serious note I'm pissed... I was streaming the game and watched till half time and the internet started messing up big time and didnt even see the second half, which sounds like it was pretty epic.

ps. Go Cavs!

I like the Spurs and their beautiful game, so it gives me little pleasure to see them exit like that. As a Dubs fan though, I'll freely admit that the Spurs scare me more than any other team in the west, and I'm glad they won't end up playing each other again.

Rockets have no chance in the 2nd round [unless CP3's injury escalates somehow]

I think the Grizzlies are made for playoff basketball. I think a lot of people are underestimating them.

The matchup the networks want is Warriors-Cavs...the matchup I think is more likely is Grizzlies-Bulls. Gasol on Gasol on Gasol

The Warriors are the happiest team after the elimination of the SPurs. It's their title to lose. They are a historic team and of the 7 teams that have won 67 games or more 5 of them won the title if I am not wrong here. 07 Mavs were one of the 2 that did not win a title.

Warriors are easily better than Clips, Rockets, Grizz, Hawks and Cavs with no Love.

I don't mind Curry winning a title. He's a fun player to watch Smile.

Hawks played very sloppy in the fourth quarter. Grizzlies are on the verge of getting blown out.

Warriors with some sloppy play and bricky open shots from the bench. Even with that, you could blink anytime during this game and they will add another 10 pts.

Sources: Warriors' Curry to be named NBA MVP

OAKLAND – Warriors guard Stephen Curry will be named the NBA's Most Valuable Player, according to multiple league sources in recent days.

Official announcement will come this week, sources said, likely on Monday between Games 1 and 2 of the Western Conference semifinals series between the Warriors and the Memphis Grizzlies.

The timing of the announcement, one source said Sunday morning, remains flexible and could become between Games 2 and 3 of the Warriors-Grizzlies series.

Curry, who on Sunday scored a game-high 22 points in a 101-86 Warriors victory over Memphis, will become the first Warrior in the franchise's 53-year California history to win the league's highest individual honor. The 27-year-old in February started the All-Star Game for the second consecutive season, this time leading all players in number of votes.

The sixth-year point guard averaged 23.8 points per game (sixth in the league), 7.7 assists (sixth) and 2.04 steals (fourth). He shot 44.3 percent from 3-point distance (fourth), 91.4 percent on free throws (first) and his 48.7 percent overall shooting percentage led all point guards.

The runner-up in the voting, according to sources, was Houston guard James Harden, who was considered the co-leader in the two-man race with Curry.

RE: The NBA Thread
@Cr33pin:

Back on topic. . .

My hat is off to Blake and CP - they brought their A+ game and they earned it. Reminded me a bit of watching the Celts/Heat Game 7 back in '12. An old, battle-tested team versus the younger, hungrier team. It hurts to see the Spurs go home in the first round, but they couldn't have lost to a more worthy team.

You'll never see another team like T. Duncan & the Spurs. Pop, Manu, T. Parker and the whole ensemble - it's been a complete privilege to watch these legends work their magic on the court. No matter what happens -- the Spurs got 5 rings and a run of excellence that we won't see again.

With the Spurs riding off, I'm gonna toss my hat in the Wiz's ring like last year. Wall is a beast, Wittman suddenly learns how to coach in the playoffs and P. Pierce is still the truth. Like I said last year -- the Wizards are going to the Finals! I don't think they will win it all, but I think the Wiz will come out of the East.

That is all.

Tough game for the Clippers without Paul. Though I'm sure Crawford will step up in his absence.
