Something else is going unnoticed here too - Spurs were playing 6 on 5 against Mavericks in second to last possession of the game and referees didn't spot it. Fortunately they were bringing the ball from behind their basket, so Mavs survived. And they survived last play of the game as well, when it was back to 5 on 5 Dodgy

I agree.

Gave up way too many dunks to Griffin and Jordan. Especially with Jordan, you HAVE to foul him inside and make him shoot free throws instead of giving up the dunk.

Mark Jackson can go to a different job, and he can take Lee with him.

Suggestions for the NBA Playoffs

A) Get rid of the conference formatting in the postseason.
B) Take the top 16 teams period.
C) Make each series 2-3-2 to reduce league wide travel costs

I don't get all this hate on Mark Jackson? Why is everybody saying it's likely he is gone? Is it purely about money? The media has turned on him also saying the team has under achieved.

Travel costs arn't a issue any more. They burn charter flight hours way worse in the season. It's TV that bitches about it most but with this weekend and game 7s it's kinda of the same with the up in the air nature.

I agree with this though. The NBA needs to shake up the playoffs and having a real "tournament" feel to the playoffs would help. NBA championship is the easiest to win in that the road to get their typically only gets tough at the conference finals. In hockey they grind you down because you literally only get one day off between games. You get way more intense games as the fatigue evens out teams quickly and low seeds are able to fuck around with top seeds more easy.

You can have play-in games in a old school tournament setting at a neutral site over 2 days for the last two spots. Teams like the Suns can wax dog house Eastern Conference teams and get in easily and only having 6 East teams would force them to get their shit together. Have the 4 teams that were close duke it out for the last two spots. Keep the "Divisions" for the schedule and fluff purposes (banners) with the cherry that you get home court for at least the first round of the Tourney.

Mark Jackson is the victim of a race based conspiracy - very common in the NBA.

It looks like the Golden State new owners are of the the Donald Sterling school - same tribe anyway - and the one thing they don't like is "uppity" types like Mark Jackson. This has nothing to do with credential - since he's the best coach they have had in what ?? 20 years ??.......

They have tried to undermine him with his own assistant coaches (taping conversations and Scalabrine - who's agent works his management for Golden State).

The whispering campaign is a wink and nod agreement to throw Jackson under the bus. This is real: Look at the way the media keeps pumping up Steve Kerr as some type of hot candidate when he has no coaching experience whatsoever and was an average player. It's racial.

Jackson is out - unless he gets the team to ton conference finals and forces management to eat crow. But, based on his performance he should get another job right away.

RE: The NBA Thread
Those conspiracy theories make me laugh.

From a fan standpoint, I'm not strongly in favor of keeping him. He reminds me very strongly of another (former) Bay Area coach, Mike Singletary of the 49ers. A great motivator and orator, but not a true X's and O's guy. I think he's better at coaching than Singletary, but ultimately it feels like he's still learning on the job - everything from the way he handles timeouts subs and rotations to the way his game plan often devolves in late game to a bunch of post iso's. From an ownership standpoint, nothing I just said may matter, just type in "Mark Jackson" and the terms "Jerry West" or "Brian Scalabrine" or "Darren Erman" and you'll see that the odds aren't good on him keeping his job.

Whatever happens, I hope they ship out Lee and possibly Thompson/Barnes. Green needs to start next season and I hope they pursue some much needed talent.

RE: The NBA Thread
It's stuff like this that has had me love/hate with the NBA since I was a youth. It was pure fuckery that was pulled in Toronto today. Even if I was on the opposite end of that, a Nets fan, it was so blatant I would of liked the outcome (of course) but still be rational to acknowledge how shitty the Refs were dealing with the game. The NBA does not help it's cause of it being a massage and controlled league when stuff like this happens. ABC wanted nothing to do with Toronto. We got dumped on ESPN 2, the only team. ABC wanted nothing with the Raps making the second round, and I wont sit here and be naive to think the calls to Silver's office were not made and this was not passed down to the Refs to call the game loose with heavy bias. Only after soccer is the NBA for blatant fuckery and corruption. It's to obvious. To many Refs get pay days. Donahue was far from a lone wolf when that broke out, and Stern out the gag on him to not out others. When MJ got caught betting on games they had to put him in exile for a year but couldn't break the word that he was betting on ball. NBA has been in bed with dirty deals since the 80s. It's made the players and the league rich, and both sides look the other way. Today was another page in it's long book of fuckery. I'm completely turned off from these playoffs. If the Raps got owned fair I wouldn't care. If game 6 was repeated (nearly was), it is what it is. But to fucker over a team like that so obviously. I don't know. It's just not right. Lowry's face said it all at the end. It wasn't real life. That wasn't basketball being played in those last minutes. It was all business and these young raptors got a tough lesson in that. Next time they will learn to be even more aggressive.

These things happened during the first round of the playoffs:

Among many others. Greatest first round of all time.

I understand the frustration over the Raps being gone. Unfortunately, even though they're well coached (very savvy end of the game there, Brooklyn denying 3s and leaving easier 2s for the taking, which the Raps took) and Lowry is for real, they overachieved. Great series and strong push at the finale there… their fans are classy as hell too, as they cheered on the team even after they lost. Cool team/city.

Dude, I think the game was called fairly and I was rooting for the Raps too. Instead of the refs, blame Casey for his idiotic rotations. We still had Demar guarding JJ in the 3rd quarter after JJ made Demar his bitch the entire series. We had 6 seconds and the last shot to win the game. How about running a play instead of giving a small PG the ball and letting him play hero ball?

Hell, in the last minutes there were so many fouls called on Nets and that allowed us to close the gap. Looking at the series JJ beasted on Ross and Demar all series long. Casey doesn't know how to use Jonas. Our half-court offense sucks too. Demar isos work great for his own stats but it kills the entire team and its offensive flow. We need a better offensive system and a real SF.

This isn't directed at you but every team that loses has its fan base complain about the refs. If you have time browse some NBA forums, I kid you not fans from all 30 teams complain about the refs. The NBA has had its problems with reffing but there isn't some league wide conspiracy to fix the games. In this day and age with Wikileaks and Snowden and whatever it would be easy to blow the lid off such a scandal. Whichever journalist finds the evidence will become an instant celebrity and millionaire.

I'm not a fun of Demar. I think he is still a bit of a Rudy-lite, and jacks up too many long contested 2s. He needs to play more efficiently. Any way we can trade him?
