I would not.

Kevin Love is a very good player. He’s a great shooter/rebounder, but he’s not good on defense. And he’s put up those stats on a crappy team.

Chris Bosh, who is much better on defense than Love, averaged 24-11 before joining the Heat. Point is that Love is most likely to see his stats drop as his touches would drop.

Also, the Cavs would have to give up much more than just Wiggins to land Love to make the salaries match, most likely depleting their bench.

I say keep Wiggins. Just practicing with Lebron could accelerate his development. Anthony Bennett has looked good in summer league (yes, I know it’s just summer league). I say keep this team, see where it goes. They could have cap space next summer to sign someone like Marc Gasol, who would be an excellent fit.

What the Cavs lack right now is a rim protector, which are hard to find anyway.

Damn Bulls are deep.

Got rid of Boozer and added Pau Gasol. We got arguably the two best passion big men in the NBA in Joakim Noah and Pau Gasol and some much needed perimeter shooting and low post offense.

Also Taj Gibson coming off the bench being a beast on the Defensive end of the floor, the Bulls possibly have one of the best frontcourt tandem in the league (Still think Spurs are the best).

We just got the best player outside the NBA in Nikola Mirotic. And the Bulls were lucky to trade up and get a lottery pick with the 11th overall in Doug McDermott who was the best offensive NCAA player in college last year who is killing it in the Summer league. If Rose comes back healthy, then he will have a lot of toys to play with and very much needed weapons and a deep bench. So excited to be a Bulls fan.

Question for bulls fans: When rose came back last season and played that small stretch before reinjuring - did you like what you saw? Because he didn't look very good. At this point, don't you think it's just as possible another comeback fails ala Danny Granger, or he just keeps reinjuring himself?

You don't ever make it past the semifinals until you know Rose becomes a known quantity.

I didn't like what I saw out of Rose, but I mostly attributed it to rust. He hadn't played for a year so it makes sense that he was going to be rusty coming in. The explosiveness, athleticism, aggression was still there same as its always been. Before the season started last year he was a monster in Pre-Season and I just figured he was going to get his game back as the season went on and as he continued to keep playing but then he got injured again.

I think D-Rose killed it because when he decided to sit out for the 2013 playoffs, his doctors and Tom Thibadeau told him that he would have to get rehab and start playing soon and Rose decided not too. His unwillingness not to play spilled over into the summer league where he was told to play to get some of the rust off so he can be ready for the upcoming season and again decided not to, going against doctors orders. Mentally he was scared to fuck up his knee again.

This time, the injury wasn't as bad (meniscus) which was the same injury Westbrook had, which is why I believe he will be ok. He came back from a worser injury in 2012. And this time he's actually doing everything the doctors are telling him. He gained 10 pounds of muscle and is actually playing for the basketball world cup that is coming up and continuing his rehab to get all the rust out of him.

Lots of people forget just how much of a monster he was. D-Rose when healthy is not just some great player, he's a superstar who plays Kamakaze basketball. The Bulls season rests on whether or not he's going to stay healthy. This year he's doing all the things he's supposed to do. I don't buy the argument that he's done one bit. IMHO I think he's going to come back ready to roll

I mean who doesn't want to see Rose play ball, its a beauty to see:

RE: The NBA Thread
If you're the Cavs' owner, and you know Lebron can opt out after this year, why wouldn't you maximize the team NOW? Wiggins will likely be good but Love is obviously better this year, so, no brainer...

Only argument I've heard in favor of waiting is, if Love won't sign long-term anywhere else (including GSW), then you can keep Wiggins and trade for love later in the season. At that point, if it's hopeless for Minny because Love won't sign long-term anywhere else, you can just trade any combo of bodies and picks for him and Minny will have to take it basically.

But if Love would sign with the Warriors or some other team, then that goes out the window.

RE: The NBA Thread
Interesting video.

Still, to trade Wiggins and Bennett and at least one first round pick seems very excessive.

I know this is a Lakers website:

http://www.lakersnation.com/lakers-rumor...014/07/19/

Randle, Hill, 1st round pick for Bledsoe.

I wouldn't trade Randle straight up for Bledsoe. I think some of these rookies are getting undersold, and it's short sighted to just trade them. Plus, Bledsoe isn't going to put the Lakers over the top in the short term either.

Furthermore, with so many teams having cap issues, having a solid rookie on a rookie contract leaves so much room for other players.

Man the Kevin Love trade saga is getting more and more interesting. The Chicago Bulls have joined the mix.

http://espn.go.com/chicago/nba/story/_/i...c#comments

They will most likely be offering

PF Taj Gibson
SG- Jimmy Butler
PF-Nikola Mirotic-(Rookie)

and a first round pick.

I love the Bulls thinking here. They are making the Timberwolves choose between having a team to compete right now with their deal or having them bet on the future of both Andrew Wiggins and Anthony Bennet. Nikola Mirotic is a rookie but has already played professional ball in Europe and would have been considered a top 4 pick in this years draft. Taj and Jimmy Butler are great defensive players.

Look for the Bulls to go hard after Love. Everyone pretty much knows that the Cavs and Bulls are the top 2 favorites to win the East. Both teams know that whoever can land Love will easily win the East.

As a Bulls fan I do not want to see the Bulls gut their team to acquire Love. But I trust Gar Forman and John Paxon in that they know what they are doing. It will be interesting to see how all of this unfolds.

The Bulls aren't going to trade Mirotic. He made it clear that he would only come over if the Bulls kept his rights and signed him (this was an issue when the Bulls were discussing trading his rights to other teams for the Melo sweepstakes). He doesn't have a no trade clause but the Bulls can't trade him. That would kill their image and trust with foreign players in the future.

What a terrible thing to happen to Paul. A break like that does not come easy. He may have had some previous hairline fractures, not uncommon for guys in this sport and somewhat similar to Muay Thai fighters in that respect.

This may sound like player hating, but I wonder if that is karma for some of that drama from last year.

Not really because he is so young. The rehab will be key. Letting it heal completely first, re-strengthen second, then get back into basketball shape. If he was near Kobe's age, I would be extremely worried. Stuff like blood palate spinning can help speed up the healing for the muscle tissue damage, but he will have pins in his legs for sure. As long as he does not rebreak it again during the healing process, he can get back in time. If he refractures it will be like starting over again.

He will have a slow start potentially at first because he could be looking at 10 months to 1 year. Once he heals then he will have to get back into basketball shape and one year off is a long time. Some guys are so young and athletic that may not be a big deal. I would say he will be out all next season, and Bird would be smart to just treat it like that Rose situation and let it go for the whole year.

If I were him I would check my testosterone levels, boost them if they are somewhat lowish, (they wouldn't check him for PED abuse while he is fucked up like this I think), and he needs all the high quality calcium, vit D, magnesium, vitamin K and A, zinc, etc. he can take.

Young men his age really should not be breaking bones like this. I had a fighter break his leg like this once. He trained too much outside of camp/practices. Too much squatting, too much bag work, and he would spar without shin guards because he thought that stuff was for pussies and Tae Kwon Do people....

Maybe Paul had alot of stress fractures from the post season and never stopped working on his game after the losses. Yao Ming had the same problem with his foot. Chinese National Team + NBA Season + NBA Post Season = Bad on bones. It's also possible he clanged his leg against someone else's or something else during a practice and it chipped his bone. I hope for his sake he did not break both the tibia and fibula, but my eyes tell me that he did.

I think he'll be alright. As a Bulls fan, I can't help but cross my fingers every time he goes for a dunk or drives for the basket in fear he might get injured again.

RE: The NBA Thread
Derrick Rose is like those German Shepherd or Belgian Malanois puppies that are extremely high drive and Special Forces caliber (like the ones they took on the Bin Laden raid). They have so much burst and athleticism that they can jump 10 feet high, sprain or break their bones in their feet easily, or crash into stuff, that you literally must keep them locked up until they grow up and become mature enough not to overdo it.

I think he will be okay for the first time because I was watching some interview and he talked about power control and exertion control. I think all of the time off made him wiser because he was forced to experiment with his own body and think for once. Muscle Memory style training can actually be a bad thing for certain young athletes. Doing the same bursts and movements all the time like when you were younger can hurt you as you fill into your frame as a 23-26 year old man. Like MikeCF says, men do not fully mature physically until 25. If he kept playing at the same style from 16-20 years old, he was going to have at least occasional issues when he hit deeper into his 20's. They make you lift weights and doing strength training more so at the pro level as well as longer playing times. What makes people not notice this is because most NBA players have problems when they get a bit older like 30+. Wade had some of the same issues Rose had. He had to learn control better too.

Derrick Rose related comment here

In light of recent events(Miami restructuring, Cavs gelling, PG's unfortunate injury) the East will be wide open the Bulls

Living in the Chi-town now, I have a certain respect for the grit of that young team, it's coach and it's resilience throughout Rose's injuries. At times, they have even exceeded expectations.

If the Bulls are able to play with balance and not 'stand around and watch him create' basketball, they are going to be a serious problem next spring
