Reading through the comments is entertaining for the butthurt, but disappointing considering those are grown adults trying to argue with emotion and logical fallacies.

• Criticizing author's looks doesn't invalidate his points.

• "That's just your opinionnnnnn!!1!" -- Yeah, so what?

• Criticisms about generalizing or confusing a generalization with totalization.
Generalization = trend, loose statement, non-specific observation
Totalization = "All ___ are ___." Even if the author used the "all ___ are" (which I don't think he did), the use here would obviously be hyperbole for rhetorical effect.

• "Not all Portlanders are like that!!" See above. (Antonym of generalization: Specificity.)

These people are drones, they aren't worth arguing with. They believe whatever they've been propagandized to believe. Their opinions are not grounded in logic or reasoning, they're grounded in the emotional connection they feel with others who espouse the same socially accepted views.

So, they are a bunch of unattractive, unoriginal, depressed leftoid hispster losers taking more anti-depressants (horrible drugs really) than any other city in the United States per capita. Unsurprisingly Multnomah County, Oregon (Portland), went for Obama with 75.6 percent of the vote in 2012. That's pretty high for a county that is 74.1% white non-hispanic.

There is obviously too much free time for these guys in Portland.

The city is littered with cafes, which are all full and most of the clients are banging away on their iPad. Add to this the whole city is pretty much one blanket wi-fi, so even the shoeless guy on the bench typing into his iPhone is probably trolling Matt.
