Maybe they have their illustrious forefather hooligans to thank for all that. The idiots in the 80's and early 90's got the English fans a shitload of enemies that are still taking revenge today because they don't realise they're a generation on and old style English hooliganism is on a tiny scale.

I'll say again that if any English hooligans go to start trouble in Russia they get their heads kicked in for all I care, but genuine fans shouldn't be lumped in with this lot. It's really not that prevalent anymore over here although it still exists on a very small scale.

Yes, English are always innocent. Rest of the world united against English for some reason mrgreen

You guys have to look at the mirror first. You guys drink excessively wherever you go, act really irresponsible and disrespect peoples cultures. Then, you get a reaction from local people.

That's why, everyone fights against English.

We don't have secret agenda alongside with Turks, French, Brazilians and Russians to attack English people anywhere. I've come to London and Manchester more than 10 times to go to Premier League games. Premier League fans inside of England are one thing, England away fans are something else.

England away fans know that, they will be in that "away country" for few days and they'll eventually go back. They think they can do whatever they want while staying in that country.

But back in England, they don't do stupid things like that because they'll be there tomorrow as well. Police will catch them sooner or later but when you are in Amsterdam, they feel like they can do anything they want for 2-3 days, then eventually go back to England.

It doesn't work out like that a lot of times. When I went to Premier League games in Liverpool, Manchester or in London, I've never seen any trouble but when I went to games where English fans are away team, there's always a trouble.

That video is one of the most horrendously cringeworthy things I've ever seen... it's the equivalent of a British film portraying people in Vermont watching NASCAR, but living in LA, while simultaneously having Alabama accents and supporting sports teams from completely different parts of the country. Terrible. And that's before we get to the portrayal of the how hooligans actually behave.

You'd have to be from Britain to understand the levels of its ridiculousness I think. But, it's just a shit movie so I'm probably caring too much!

Dude Eurotrip is hilarious! And yea, it's not the type of movie that aims for accuracy when it comes to cultures. It's just a laid-back film about young dudes travelling to Europe for some poonani.

I'm not condoning football hooliganism, it's moronic and utterly pointless - apart from maybe allowing disaffected young men a way to let off steam..though I'd argue, strongly, that they're directing their anger in the wrong direction. As Matsufubu said, it's a tiny issue now in England, so much so that I doubt any of the main teams have properly organised firms anymore. They might carry the old names, but I wouldn't be surprised if the numbers were only in the dozens at most.

As for Russia 2018...there is one (former) English hooligan that the Russians, Poles, Italians etc won't touch this summer out of respect. He's fairly popular on this forum, so I'm sure you all know to whom I refer!

They tried, but he won the case.

Quote:Police attempts to ban Tommy Robinson from attending future England football matches – in part because he held up a "F**k ISIS" flag during the Euro 2016 tournament in France – have been rejected in court after a judge criticised the evidence provided by one of the country's most senior officers as "cagey".

...

It would have seen Robinson, real name Stephen Lennon, banned for at least three years from attending any football match at home, or abroad at the Russia 2018 World Cup, and from entering his home town of Luton on match days.

The things you own end up owning you.

Is this penalty? Real Madrid are the first finalist once again with huge help from ref.

Probably at least one clear penalty during the game, yeah.

However Bayern also gave Real Madrid two free goals.

RE: The Soccer Thread
Bayern looked a lot better than Real in those two legs. Frankly I think Bayern would've easily one with a healthy Neuer. With that said Real has a great back line and have the pace to keep up with Salah. Varane, Marcelo, Nacho and Ramos are all very quick. I think Real will be able to beat Liverpool while it would be nice to see an upset...Frankly liverpool doesn't have anywhere near the backline and midfield that would be needed to stop Real Madrid.

Liverpools front line can make just amount any back line look back...just look at what happened to City and Roma. With that said there are teams who frankly have a backline that can match their front line and that would be teams like Juventus, Bayern and Real...one of which they will be facing in the finals.

I think Real wins it but it will be close.

There's a reason that Liverpoool haven't won the league here despite that awesome attacking line, and there's a reason Real are in the final no matter what the performances. I'd love Liverpool to win it, but if one team is going to bottle it, it's not going to be Real.

Liverpool not winning the league this year has nothing to do with bottling, but more to do with City having the greatest PL season of any team for decades.

Not to mention Liverpool had a very slow start, and only really got into their groove after that loss to Spurs at Wembley in October. Also, we've been playing second gear in the league over the last 4 matches, to focus on CL.

Having said that, Madrid are no doubt the favourites for the final...but surely their astonishing good fortune has got to run out soon? That semi with Bayern was one of the most bizarre matches I've seen. Bayern missing sitter after sitter, stonewall penalties not given against Madrid (You'd feel Ramos could knife Lewandowski and the ref would play on), and then Bayern gifting two goals over two matches to Madrid that'd look amateurish in Tajikistan league.

Anyways, no point talking about the final yet...another semi-final to be played today. Hoping for a boring, stress-free game that we can secure the spot in the final with no injuries or suspensions, then we can worry about Real.

Do they want referee help again like both games against Man City?

Sterling penalty, not given.
Salah first goal was offside.
Sane's goal was legit, it was given offside.

Second match, City scored legit goal, ball came from Milner but ref ruled offside.

Let's not forget, Liverpool shouldn't be talking about refs. Even though, I supported Liverpool in that knockout because I hate Fraudiola.

"Liverpool shouldn't be talking about refs" Laugh Laugh

Look at the penalty given away against Roma and the same 2 incidents that happened against Madrid last night where Bayern weren't given pens. Also, look at the Liverpool match at the weekend where an even more obvious penalty wasn't awarded. Let's not mention the Harry Kane debacle again either.

I can't even remember the last time Liverpool were given a pen.

Every team that plays Madrid in the Champions League has to worry about the ref. Liverpool will beat them anyway.

In regards to hooliganism, if you think it's just the English that Roma fans target, why not look back to the time that a Napoli fan was killed before the Italian cup final in 2014, by a Roma fan whose team wasn't even playing. Sure, the English are targeted, but it's not just the English that have to face the wrath of the arse stabbers.

I didn't mean Liverpool had bottled the league, only that Real have direct experience in the CL final and Liverpool don't. Agree about City; at times you wonder if De Bruyne is even human. This season almost made me want Man Utd to get back into contention. Don't get me wrong, City deserve it, but as a neutral it's not very competitive. Fair play to Liverpool to show the rest how to beat them, though.

Just kicked off, here we go...

That was a lot closer than I expected after Mane's goal. Bit worrying that they've conceded several late goals in both legs when Real seem to love scoring them.

Still, war Liverpool on the 26th.
