Not sure if serious, this is a match from the 80s!

In other news, the legend that is Zidane just resigned as Madrid manager.

What a way to go out...This guy has the most epic of exits both as a player and as a manager.

Maybe we can finally get some proper competition back in the CL and break the monopoly.

My bad, I should've specified that in my post.

Zidane leaving is just the start things to come, big changes. Ronaldo and Bale will not be playing in the same team. One will leave.

Just read that Real Madrid want Poch as he extended his contract for 4 years with Tottenham last week. According to Spanish press, Poch has a clause to leave if Spanish big teams want him.

If I were Poch, I wouldn't really leave to Real Madrid at all. If he wins La Liga, no big deal. If he wins Champions League, no big deal to Real Madrid Board and fans. He could be sacked next day even if he wins.

But if he wins Premier League within 2-3 seasons with Tottenham once their new stadium is done, he will be remembered by a lot of people that first manager to win Premier League with Tottemham in 60 years.

How many people who pass up the job at one of the two big teams in spain?

If Real or Barca had a concrete approach for Poch, he would leave in an instant.

Coaching Real is a once in a lifetime opportunity that I can't see a young up and comer like Poch turning down.

A lot. Heyckness refused them, Klopp refused them, even Wenger refused them, 3 times.

Wenger was really smart too. Instead of going to Real Madrid and last there 2 seasons, he opted to stay at Arsenal and collected nice fat salary for 20 years, for example.

If Wenger went to Madrid when Ronaldo was at his peak, Modric etc he could do very well IMO. As long as he's not in charge of recruitment. Though, one could argue he's also out of date technically I guess. His Arsenal teams, even right up to this season, played great football at times. I'd be happy for him if he went there and did well.

According to latest news, Real Madrid approached to Allegri 5 days before the Champions League final. Allegri signed extension with Juventus and said no to Real Madrid. And then, Zidane heard about this approach and that was the main reason why he resigned after the final.

Going to be a long summer for fans of teams not at the World Cup such as the Netherlands and Italy.

England are shaping up reasonably well. The new 3 at the back formation plays to our relative strengths.

I just hope fans from other countries can prove themselves mature enough not to have an aneurysm at the sight of a St.George's cross and feel the need to attack our loyal fans.

England are shaping well? mrgreen

So, you won't get knocked out by Iceland but maybe Mexico this time? Britchard, I'll be in Russia in few hours. Let's bet: If there are gonna be 20 fights in Russia throughout whole tournament, I'll say: 18 fights will involve English fans one way or another.

Wanna bet? mrgreen

Just like in World Cup 2010, World Cup 2014, Euro 2012, Euro 2016 or any Champions League season.

I mean, if England fans manage to get locked up in Amsterdam over 100 of them during friendly match, lets guess how many will get locked up Russia and send to gulags for 1 month. Tell British media to not cry on Putin's shoulder when that happens though. I know, I'll be reading "Innocent English fans got beaten up again." news on The Sun.

I'll return from Russia in 3 weeks. We'll continue when I get back, I don't think i'll have time to login to forum from there

Don't forget, Brazil won 5 times, Italy and Germany won 4 times and England just once mrgreen

I'm sure you'll find some time for any England related news/scandals, though...

Edit: Enjoy the tournament!

I heard that Rossi doesn't actually have any tickets to any games, he's going to Russia to watch how many England fans get into fights.

This is also the first time the tournament will have 48 teams...a huge clusterfuck. The timezone differences will play a big factor here especially after the group games (which hopefully will be played around one area only). Imagine your group games are in California, then the next phase is in Mexico and right after that you fly to New York.
I'd have liked Morocco but looks like the infrastructure just wasn't there.

What a joke. USA is big/wealthy enough to organize a World Cup on their own. Why would they need Canada and Mexico???

So they don't need to host it in Canada or Mexico for another 100 years. A tick-box exercise.

48 teams is ridiculous. Even the current set-up has way too many teams. Looking through the fixtures in the group stage there are only 2 or 3 compelling match-ups of top teams. Most of it will be at a level far, far inferior to the Champions League or even the top national leagues. Corrupt, money-grubbing FIFA fucks.
