^ That is pathetic from Luiz, a great player though he is.

At least we're in the top quarter for FIFA Rankings and have been to a WC (and got a result). Its something-you could do a lot worse.

Haha I only added the second "minor" to wind you up.

Doesn't matter that Luiz was faking it, Rafael still kicked out like a petulant little child.

Take off your Liverpool specs for a second, if that was Glen Johnson who'd done that, I would still say the fact he is SMILING whilst pretending to be hurt is pretty fucking pathetic.

Hmmm, interesting. Fergie retiring..

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/footbal...-week.html

or Moyes becoming his number 2 for a year:

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/footbal...nited.html

Both probably complete and utter bollocks though!

Wow - really interesting.

It makes a certain type of sense since leaaving after your 20th title has a nice ring to it. Particularly since I cannot see Man U winning the European Cup in the next 4-5 years. Which would have being his preferred his exit plan.

Fergie did promise his leaving would be a surprise when it came. So - this really could be it.

Also - seems like Mourinho is coming back to the UK. Maybe he will go to Man U?

Please, if there is a God. Let Moyes take over for Ferguson.

I heard that as well. But people are now talking about a 20 million euro penalty fee. Wonder if that will put a stop to things from going ahead?

Maybe - Giggs and Moyes to take over? With Ferguson hanging around 'upstairs' (he has said football is the only thing keeping him going - so I don't think he will ever quit completely). And the signing of Ronaldo to try and reassure fans and investors. Along with some clearing out - eg the selling of Rooney.

I'll admit it, I'll be really upset when he does go. And not for footballing reasons, I don't have that much emotional energy invested in something that cares zero for me.

I'll be upset because he's been there since I've been alive and it represents part of my childhood. Is that beta? very sad

wow...they are looking to take back Ronaldo? Can they in some sick way include Carroll in that deal? Just for the sake of winning away against Stoke.

@Teedub, my betameter is still green. You`ll pass.

Paul Pogba will be a top 3 midfielder in the world in a few years time, and his form with Juventus has been amazing so far. You think Fergie is kicking himself for letting Pogba walk? Check out his quality below. Sick longshots.

Interesting that the news about Ferguson came out today after we were talking about it last night. Maybe he reads the RVF. Laugh

RE: The Soccer Thread
Ferguson doesn't really operate that way. Pogba wasn't dedicated to Man United, so he had to go. Likewise, with players like Beckham, he gets rid of them when the good of the squad is threatened. Beckham was at the peak of his powers, but he (in SAF's eyes) was too involved in being a celebrity. That's why I was baffled when he let Rooney hold the club to ransom. I'd have got rid of Rooney immediately.

He makes exceptions of course, Cantona springs to mind. But Rooney isn't Cantona. Likewise, if Ronaldo had played up at all, I'm sure he would have allowed him special consideration too.

I'd be happy with Moyes in for SAF. The thing people will have to realize that it's not likely United will remain top during the transition. People will have to give whoever the new manager time, or else it'll turn into another Chelsea.

United have some quality players, however I am not sure any other manager knows how to utilize the squad in the same way as Ferguson. I`d be shocked if you go for Moyes... Are there any other names linked to you?

I can't see him leaving to be honest, I'm sure he's relishing going up against Mourinho again. Then again, it could be health reasons.

SAF came close to signing Gazza, Shearer and Ronaldinho in the past.

But - he once said the player he really regrets not signing is Paulo DiCanio. He saw him as a replacement to Cantona (his all-time favourte player).

Fergie has a thing for head-strong skillful players.

Random question. Anyone remember the bicycle kick which was scored in the Italian league about 16 years ago?

It was a great goal - and I later heard a statue had being built to commemorate it. Anyone recall this? I have being trying to track it down for years.

He wrote Di Canio a letter of congratulations, and whatever you think of SAF, the fact he apparently does this for upcoming mangers is pretty classy. And I wouldn't normally call him a classy sort of guy. I'm fairly objective, he has some very negative traits - hypocrisy being one - but this is a nice touch.

Here's another possibility:

Mourinho takes over United, and brings Ronaldo with him.

Rooney was on the verge of signing with City, that would have made Utd look weak losing there biggest star.

Di Canio was a little before my time, but I remember the clip of him catching the ball when he could have scored because the opposition keeper was injured. I've never seen fair play like that in any sport I've watched, let alone soccer. He may be off his rocker a bit, but he is pure class.
