More proof of the equality of the genders, except when it comes to navigation, opening doors, etc.

You realize the force keeping the door closed is far greater than what a human can generate, right? Your best bet is to open the windows, let the car fill with water and then try opening the doors. Or escape through the windows if possible.

Tragic accident.

Yeah there's a good Mythbusters episode about this

The best thing to do is lower the windows before the car starts to sink if you have time and go out through the window

If not, you have to let in water to equalize the pressure then either go out the window or open the door

It's possible the water shorted the electronics in the power windows so they couldn't get them down and it's not easy to break a car window without a tool

I have a big Maglight in my truck, and you can also buy a little window punch designed for this.

If they were unfamiliar with the park and it was foggy I can easily see how they could have driven into the water

Mishaps like this just happen in the outdoors, especially to inexperienced people whether male or female, I don't see anything here that has to do with them being women

Or just swim through the windows. They sell a mini hammer that can be used to easily break the windows. A steel collapsible asp also works. The asp actually works very good for this. There is even a special tip that can be added for breaking windows.

Yeah, I keep a centerpunch in my console in case I need to break a window; either my own car submerged in water, or if some dipshit parent leaves their child in a hot car (tempted as I might be to let Darwinism run its course and end the bloodline). Centerpunches can be had for less than $5. No reason not to have one.

Shit like this happens up here to a lot of inexperienced tourists, regardless of gender. Plenty of clueless men would have done the same.

I really don't understand how the fuck it's possible to drive your car at full speed off a boat ramp and then have your first response be to pull out your fucking cell phone.

It's a good case study for what happens to women when left to their own devices in a world without men. Completely and utterly helpless in a crisis. Any time something goes wrong, just pick up the phone and call a man to fix it.

Lady, that might work when it's your basement is filling up with water, but not when it's the sinking car you're sitting in.

The death of the unborn baby was like a mercy-kill from God. If they had lived, no doubt the dimwitted mother would have found some other way to kill them both, like leaving the gas on or dropping a radio in the tub while bathing the baby. Amazing she made it to her late 30s. I wonder how many times the men in her life have bailed her out before.

Yeah, exactly, and they ended up 175 feet off the ramp! How fucking fast was she driving in the .... fog! God damn. It's foggy! Slow your ass down. And they didn't have to pull out their phones they are fused to their hands.

It's a horrific way to go, but they did it to themselves. I feel bad for the dog. It was stuck with these bumbling idiots.

This just in: The iPhone-addicted woman used her phone to update her Facebook status, take a selfie of herself as the car was going down, and add some filters to the images on Instagram before making the 9-1-1 call.

This is another example of When You-Go-Girlism Meets Reality. It's "you go girl!" until you manage to get yourself into two major jams within the same afternoon. A man bailed you out the first time, but he wasn't around to save you the second.

It's tragic, but mainly because no one will learn the lessons embedded in this loss.

Nah, this case is different from the limo burning case.

In the limo burning case, it was just a freak accident.

Here, the women were being idiots and not paying attention to the road. I'll bet they were texting while driving.

Being out in nature is serious business. It's extremely dangerous and you need to remain alert at all time.

When people die tragic deaths, I apply a gender equal standard. I wouldn't laugh if guys burned to death in a freak car accident.

But if guys were texting while driving, not paying attention, and being cluless....It's not funny but you really can't act like it was unavoidable.

I know a kid who died driving through Utah. He dropped his phone, bent over to pick it up, and hit a cliff head on.

It was sad for his family...But he didn't respect his surroundings and that's what happens.

Hah. You beat me by 30 seconds with the phone use reference.

Incidentally, if it were foggy and rainy and you didn't know the landscape...Let me take a survey. Would you:

a) Park your fucking car by the side of the road in a safe spot, turn on your hazard lights, and wait for the fog to clear or rain to subside?
b) Drive on.

The girls failed to exercise common sense. It's not funny, but since the deaths were self-inflicted and avoidable, it's not something to lose any sleep over.

RE: Rescued women hikers drown inside vehicle leaving state park
I think about shit like this every time I see a woman having car problems (which is often). In fact, it happened just yesterday.

I was on the way to work, and there's a roundabout in the neighborhood I have to drive through. There was a woman in her Mercedes, completely stopped IN the roundabout with her parking lights on. She was sitting there, on the phone, and she was SMILING. It wouldn't surprise me if she wasn't even on the phone with AAA but with her "bff" telling her "OMG you'll never guess what just happened to me".

Of course, people that were trying to get through the intersection had to drive into ONCOMING TRAFFIC because she was blocking an entire section of the roundabout. All she would have had to do is push her car another 8 feet forward and she would have cleared the obstruction. Of course, she could only do that if she were a man.

Okay, so women are weaker, but even still, even if I didn't have enough strength to push my own car I would get out and flag someone down to help me move it to at least get out of everyone's way. Be proactive in some way.

They really are helpless.

This almost happened to me once. Against my better judgement I let a girl drive.

And calling 911 when you have 3 minutes top to live? You might as well just dial 1-800-Death Wish.

Roosh, I don't really see what god has to do with it. It seems clear to me that Darwinism was at play here.

This reminds of when Ted Kennedy ran his car off a bridge into a pond in Martha's Vineyard. He was probably hammered, though. And his female companion didn't deserve to die.

You want to know the only thing you can assume about a broken down old man? It's that he's a survivor.

I don't get how you manage to drive far enough down a boat ramp to be submerged in the first place...the whole point of boat ramps is that a trailer can back into the water that's only a few feet deep and get the boat onto the trailer.

1. Maybe the mini van was painted up like the general lee and they just thought they could make the jump over the river.

2. I don't understand how they would exercise anything but extreme caution after just avoiding death a few hours earlier. Maybe they were just so relieved to get out of the park that they wanted to get home as fast as they could.

looking for a new signature.
