What shoes do you guys wear with shorts? I haven't worn shorts in some time now. I think I want to go out and buy a few pair soon, but I don't know what kind of footwear I should sport. I just turned 38, so wearing something like Vans or cons is a bit immature looking to me.

Boatshoes or loafers with nicer shorts/board shorts/trunks
tennis shoes (flashy nike's or basic addidas) with athletic shorts for me

Although I don't really wear shorts often.

Is there a way to pull of boat shoes with shorts and not look gay? Just looking at these images, nearly every dude looks queer:

Interesting for a Clarks shoe (Collab with ronnie fieg)
Shoes like these are perfect for chinos and chino shorts, which is a staple for looking nice because jeans generally suck.

When I used to wear shorts a lot I'd wear them with sandals most the time. But what sandals are stylish right now?

I use these Sanuks instead of flip-flops in the summer. I think they look better and are more comfortable. I don't wear socks with them.

These are sweet, and would go well with jeans also IMO. For $160 they can kiss my ass though. Would buy for around 100.

Can't go wrong with polo sneakers. They're cheap($40-100) and fit comfortably. They also look great when worn with the right jeans(preferably slim since baggy jeans don't look well with low-top sneakers). +1 for cuffing the jeans, too.

Balenciaga shoes are also good(they look great with slim denim jeans) but they're expensive($500 range). I wore these to my high school prom and I still have them but I only wear them on special occasions.

Like Balenciaga, Prada shoes are expensive too, but they look great.

Polo sneakers are stylish. I have some brown leather ones I wear in the fall or at night in the spring or summer. They are the second pair of Polo sneakers I have had. In my experience with both pairs, however, they wear out fast. If you wear them often (once a week or so), IMO they will only last about a year at most.

Yes, those guys look queer because they would look queer without boat shoes. I wear flat front shorts that end a couple inches above my knee since it shows off the very bottom of my quads. If some of those guys are so cold that you are wearing a cardigan or a jacket with boat shoes, it's too cold to be wearing boat shoes. They don't get as much leeway as other types of loafers in terms of seasonality.

I really like the Oakwood suede desert boots. I'm planning on buying a pair. I don't know how to wear them though. Any ideas?

Most men who take "fit" pictures and post them on the internet are gay, it's not just limited to boat shoes.

To answer your other question speakeasy I actually can't think of any shoes besides low top sneakers and loafers type shoes that look good with shorts. That said I don't wear them very often.

Where I'm from, most people like to go out in slides with athletic shorts, or denim shorts with crocs and socks. 80% of my county is like being in a giant Wal-Mart.

I'd say the options on the pic for jeans are limited. You could wear most of the types from the chinos/dress trousers with them depending on the type of jeans.

I'm wearing wingtip brogues with jeans right now... The idea that you can only wear casual shoes with jeans is one of the biggest things holding back men's style.

I think wearing wingtip brogues/oxfords/balmorals with dark jeans (navy blue, grey, or black) and a nice button-up and blazer or waistcoat & pocket square is a really great high/low look and extremely masculine.

I don't know if the image came through, but I recently bought a pair of black Ecco Dublin Gore-Tex chukkas. Their Gore-Tex chukkas are highly water-resistant and great for rainy weather, with both casual or business clothes. Last year I bought a pair of brown Turn chukkas. Ecco appears to be phasing out the Turns and replacing them with the Dublins. The Turns are still available on a number of sites, but are rapidly disappearing. I think the Turns look a little more rugged than the Dublins. The Dublins look more refined. After buying and wearing the black Dublins for the past two weeks, I think I like the Dublins a little more than the Turns. Gore-Tex leather looks a little plastic-ky, but the boots work awesome in wet weather, look masculine, and go well with chinos, jeans, or dress slacks. Both have rubber soles so they squeak on linoleum. They shine up fairly well with polish.

Edit: They look overly clunky close up, this is how they actually look in outfits.

These babies FINALLY came in the mail after being back-ordered for weeks. They are the most comfortable pair of shoes I have ever worn, I could walk around in them all day, it feels like I'm walking on the air. The soles and the leather are just top notch. They look a bit clunky up when you hold them up to your face, but worn with an outfit they look fantastic. They also add a decent amount of height too, more so then other shoes I own (and I own too many shoes...) Overall I am very happy with this purchase. Which is good because I have no money left -.-

To Boot NY Kilburn replacements, between these three Wolverine 1000 Mile? Mostly for street and casual venue wear with dark jeans or carpenter khakis. The Addison (#1) look nice, but nicer than the Classic (#2) which come in cordovan color as a bonus? Is wingtip a bit much for everyday wear around Boston and the smaller northeastern cities?

Lots of people talk about getting the stacked leather resoled with rubber, in which case the Montgomery would seem to make the most sense, but they don't look as sharp to me.

Don't need to buy these exact Ferragamos, but there are lots of similar variations of driving moccasins that are really comfortable in warmer weather.

They are also fairly flat, so it gives your body a rest from the damage inflicted by dress shoes with heels.

The wingtips or cap toe (or is that a hardened/steel toe?) make it look a little more refined and a little less rugged, so it depends on what situation you will usually be wearing them in. If you will actually be doing some real work in the boots, then the plain toe is probably better. If you're just wearing them down to the bar or the grocery store, then any of them are fine.

Rubber soles, from what I understand, have a better grip on slippery services, more flexible and padded for walking, and more weatherproof. Leather looks better and easier to repair or replace.
