Online complainers are almost always beta.

Improve your game + fix your logistics, or try another city.

Blaming others and avoiding personal responsibility is what pussies do.

There are many cities in the world. I hope this guy finds his pussy paradise.

Speaking for shit-talkers everywhere, I have to say, complaining is the mother of change. Contrary to popular belief, talking shit and doing something about it aren't mutually exclusive. The "Stop talking about it and do something!" platitude is bullshit. I'm more concerned with complacency--not complaining, not boat-rocking, and going along to get along. To articulate what's wrong with a situation is to begin to break down how to improve it. Oh, the chicks in your city are 4s, but act like they're 9s? Well, that's one thing you'll look out for in the future. Persistent, inactive whining is different than talking shit with your mouth, but doing shit with your hands.

I despise people who complain and do nothing also--whiny bitches. This guy may very well be one of those people. But I have no problem with cats who can make astute observations about a place or situation; articulate it in a funny/compelling way; make adjustments in their lives to improve that situation; and keep periodically talking shit about the old situation once they extracted themselves. You can be a hater, but you can also be a doer.

It's like the DC players on the forum. Most of them pulled themselves out of that shithole long ago (or found a way to make it work), but they rarely miss an opportunity to point out its shortcomings (especially vis-a-vis its women).

My perspective is slightly different.

My opinion is that -- Focused Effort is the "mother of change".

Like you said, complaining alone does nothing.

Complaining without focused effort will change nothing.

When I see a problem, my first instinct is too fix it, not bitch about it.

To me, complaining is being focused on the problem rather then the solution.

In my studies of great men, complaining does not seem to be a common theme. I don't see it as a valuable tool for us.

Focused Effort seems to inspire much greater change.

I would have loved this article if the author posted his problems and his solutions.

But, I admit, I did not read the article.

I am not even sure if that is close to true.

DC is a million times worse ratio. So is Southern California.

I have never lived in SF but visited a multitude of times. I never remember the ratio being close to bad.

But overall I agree with Gio. Whining won't do this guy any good, in fact it'll outcast him even more and make him even more resentful.

the way they skewer NYC is even funnier, hit it spot on. Funny tho that I now see Matt Stone in my gym in NYC.

There is an Elitism in SF you dont even find in NYC, LA, etc. Its similar to Seattle and Boston, you live in a marginally important city, but the fact you live there makes you culturally and socially superior to anyone. I didnt research it but he is probably a start up guy and all of the elitist midwesterners and east coasters that invade SF every year probably trash him and his company for having a mildly negative opinion. Its beautiful, but when I am there, and I spend a great deal of time there on business, I would rather stay in Palo Alto, Half Moon Bay, Pacifica, Sausalito, Berkeley. Personally, the south Peninsula/west San Jose is more interesting than SF. SF can be fun, but I can only take a few days of it. Back in the day they used to have the best music scene in the US, but that is long gone.

Living anywhere up that way is hard. I went through this shit everyday out there it seems I don't miss it

This cracked me up. This goes for L.A. too. I recently had the same exact interaction with an acquaintance...we were talking about girls and he started talking about some chick he met.

I asked, "You bang her?"

He looked at me somewhat shocked. It was as if there were 20 layers of politically correct inoculations that I'd just barged right through. He sort of looked away, sheepishly, and said, "Um, yeah, we slept together."

"...so I gave her an STD, and she STILL wanted to bang me."

RE: 10 reasons why San Francisco sucks
/rant incoming...

I hold a deep, special kind of hatred for the people's republic of San Francisco. But not for the reasons this guy describes.

SF women feature a toxic mix of ultra left wing feminist values, combined with heavy intellectual elitism. I have also lived in DC for many years. SF is an order of magnitude worse than DC in these 2 particular areas.

SF'ers love to hate on every other city in US. You almost never hear Southern Cali folks hating on other cities. They are usually cool with everyone...and I'm an LA guy. That's how much I despise the place.

Lived there for a year. Noticed it the very first night I went out in the Mission. Mission girls try as hard as possible to look as unfeminine as possible. The mindset is: "as progressive feminist sex-positive sisters, we refuse to define ourselves through traditional gender roles. Men recognize us as equals here. Which means treat us extra special, behave like gentlemen at all times, pay for everything, own a fabulous apartment in a trendy part of the city, and be a vocal male feminist yourself while supporting our causes".

Yeah.

Girls in SF do not respect alphas. They challenge them. The rape culture of the patriarchy is enemy #1. To really be happy here, you need to 1. be gay, or 2. be a male feminist.

I lost out on sex on multiple day 2's due to my seething hatred for all things feminist coming through in our conversations. After the 3rd time, I learned to avoid the topic altogether. Had sex with a dozen or so girls this way, but still hated everything they believed in deep down. The most serious of these relationships ended when after 4 months of NSA fun, she revealed how she couldn't wait to get married, so she could cut off all her hair and not worry about attracting a guy anymore. I said "If I was your husband and you got a soccer mom haircut, I would divorce you".

The exception to this madness is the Marina. That 1 area is closer to LA in terms of mentality, sex appeal and nightlife. Girls make a fair effort to look sexy up there, and respect male dominance...but at the end of the day, you're still in fucking SF.

You know it is kind of funny, I have had a bunch of success with SF girls in Miami Beach. (They go there a lot, I think it is because of direct flights).

Everytime I meet one in Miami I ask them if they like guys in SF. With out fail, they always say they are too passive, hipster, weakster, lack aggression etc.

I then always go direct.

This might be because of vacation mode, the sultry sun, sea and sand combo or they are just looking to get swooped by a cat that speaks Spanish, is a little rough around the edges, can dance and knows how to navigate the landmines of the Killing Fields of Miami Beach.

Or it could be that the SF girls going to Miami are the ones that like more "Alpha" guys. Could be a "self qualifying" process.

But this has happened enough times to me that I have made note of it.

Same goes for Canadian girls in Miami Beach. Probably the two easiest tourist girls.

I see the same thing with girls from SF who came down to LA. Some are slowly adjusting, and others are excited to be out of SF.

Miami is the polar opposite of SF, moreso than LA.

There's also an excellent blog about how SF sucks:

Quote:Rivalries by this measure have to happen. Northern California has to despise Southern California and vice versa, not so the Giants can win the pennant but so love has a chance. The conflict could theoretically be over almost anything - Bonds vs. Manny, weed vs. coke, hiking vs. surfing, youtube vs. Paramount) - people will adapt to the governing construct. They will build art and nuance out of the contrivance they've chosen to care about. They will find a way to come together.

But here's the problem: Northern California has chosen to take a stand against a fundamental aspect of human attraction: physical beauty. We supposedly hate tans and big boobs and modelesque bone structure. We hate people who aspire to and care about such conditions. This is like taking the position of mass suicide over mass survival. Or puppies rather than babies. It's either self-destructive or a total lie and in this case both.

Every person in San Francisco would LOVE to date a model even if they'd never admit it. And every person male or female would rather be casually mistaken for Salma Hayek than Steven Hawking. Every single LA-hating person. No one wants to be loved for their mind. The primordial need of the human soul is utter devotion from someone who is totally superficial.

Basing a community-wide propositional attitude on bullsh*t falsehood has this strange result: everyone in San Francisco is simultaneously offended by beauty and offended no one finds them beautiful. Even though the disdain of beauty makes sense internally (since it makes you feel superior) it's counter-productive externally (since it's an implicit insult to the company you keep). "I ain't here because of your looks," we're saying, "Wanna make out?" Every time someone picks up on you it's a slap in the face. It's like being selected to play the part of the homely fat girl in a Lifetime movie. "You're perfect!" the casting agent delights.

And yet: the open and notorious defense of a self-defeating delusion is, curiously, sort of brave. We are saboteurs standing fast on a sinking ship. There may be no beauty in San Francisco and there may be no girls and to say to the world, “That's the way we like it” with a straight face, that's insanity and will surely be our risible ruin, but all of this, in some small way, is also spectacular. It makes us laughable loners but if Breakfast Club, Rushmore and Napolean Dynamite have taught us anything, it's that there's nothing profound about being popular. Greatness is achieved only in the pathos of an asymmetrical face and extraordinary social failure. And maybe this in the end redeems us. Maybe we're wrong but that's why we're right.

of course it is. heck, i consider nocal to be san luis obispo to chico and sacramento.

basically, if the kids use the word 'hella' then you are in nocal. (i grew up in berkeley)

I agree with the OP about the bums(there are a lot of bums in frisco) but how exactly do bums or the weather make it difficult to find and bang women? (i liked the weather in nocal)

If you live in chicago and hate the cold, then go ahead and bitch about the weather. or if you live in tuscon and hate the heat. but having mild weather all the time is pretty nice

RE: 10 reasons why San Francisco sucks
San Luis Obispo can't even be argued as NorCal. I lived there, I know. Yuppy kids running around in NorCal shirts doesn't make it so. Not to mention it takes three times as long to drive to Oregon as it does Mexico from SLO.

People from the bay say they are NorCal, but they are not. That is the bay area. A world all its own.

NorCal is Sacramento and up, excluding the bay. I may make an exception for Stockton.

I once had a typical bay area kid try to explain to me how NorCal isn't a place, it is a state of mind. That is exactly what I would expect some wannabe NorCal hipster to say, and why the bay isnt included.

I know being told you're not from NorCal, even though you're from.Berkeley and have thought it your whole life, is kind of like being told you're adopted, and I'm sorry. I couldnt let you continue living a lie any longer. It doesn't make us love you any less, it just means you're different....

@CourageReborn-^^^Hence why you stay away from weird white women and swoop Asians, tourists and FOBs. Mission is hipster-central. Skip.

Stick to Union Sq., Pacific Heights, Marina, and occasionally SOMA.

Funny how people hate on SF, when it is one of the most playboy-friendly cities in the USA.

All this SF or LA or DC sucks is like saying "Marinara Pasta sucks because it has tomato sauce". Each city has its own culture. Try to find one, that meshes with you. Or change your vibe/venues to suit your tastes.

Adapt and Overcome or Die.

@Rionomad- I lived in Stockon for a while. It sucked. Although I would argue Bay Area should not include San Jose. San Jose has such a different culture from "Norcal", despite the "hella" usage.

WIA- For most of men, our time being masters of our own fate, kings in our own castles is short. Even those of us in the game will eventually succumb to ease of servitude rather than deal with the malaise of solitude

I respect your preferences. The FOB's and local Chinese Americans don't turn me on personally. Wouldn't be able to speak on those.

To my mind, avoiding the culturally defining neighborhoods of a city defeats the purpose of living in it. At that point it's like you said DVY, better to find one that meshes with your preferences.

UCLA neighborhood in LA is also a goldmine if you're into FOB's. I had a friend who used to pull home 3 girls a week from that local starbucks. He was totally into those type of girls too.

He is getting a lot of hate. Either A) he entirely fucked his business because no one will give him finding now or B) he will legit some fame for this which will make him some decent cash.

My guess is A).

Remember this?

Aside from a few annoying feminists, almost everyone in LA who saw it thought it was funny. I searched Twitter at the time, and saw only positive comments on it, from both men and women. The exact opposite would happen in SF. The whole city would call Peter Shih a rapist if he did that video. Maybe he'd even get Julian Assange-d by the local police force, and get trumped up sexual assault charges for bumping against a girl's ass.

Didn't take long to contradict yourself there. Things can objectively suck. Nothing wrong with that. We don't have to play this game of "bro, if you spit game at 11:37 AM on the third Wednesday of the month, at Main and Birch, at a Cambodian girl with a shaved head, Peoria, Illinois is a fucking pussy paradise."

Complaining about complaining is getting old. We get it, you want positive, feel-good advice. Well go read Anthony Robbins. Shit, I have to be one of the biggest complainers on the internet... yet you guys are here, and probably have been for years. Laugh

I keep it real. I share the good and bad. To try to shame discussion of the bad is like a bunch of women getting together for a dinner party and sharing fake compliments they don't mean. http://www.theonion.com/articles/female-...the,27446/

Life ain't all positive. Some things really DO suck. Even the best city in the world has some negative features. It'd be dishonest not to share them just for the sake of "being positive."

Are people really that petty in SF? If something like this happened in LA, 95% of people would never hear about it, let alone care.

Looks like his app is directed at merchants; it's not directed at consumers and the public. Plus it's directed at e-commerce, so not location specific. Hopefully the people he deals with in business won't give a shit.

Never attach your name to a hateful article.

Ha actually the more i think about it the ONLY reason you stay in any major US city in California is to stack bread. Otherwise you should be heading towards the exit sign.

The guy basically showed up, had an opportunity and took a shit on it. No where am i defending the hipsters of SF, what did he really think was going to happen by throwing that article up there?

Are people really that petty in SF? If something like this happened in LA, 95% of people would never hear about it, let alone care.

Looks like his app is directed at merchants; it's not directed at consumers and the public. Plus it's directed at e-commerce, so not location specific. Hopefully the people he deals with in business won't give a shit.

This is how san francisco works. If your going to throw the entire city on blast the only people who are really going to hear your gripes are the unemployed hippies who care about protecting SF from people "like him". These people have no lives so they will spend it trying to ruin his career and more likely than not will succeed.

Basically the dude negatively impacted his reputation with no gains.

I have no sympathy for him, stupid ass move. There are tons of people who agree with him but there is no way I would put myself on blast to back this guy up. Whats the ROI? nothing. waste of time.

My opinions of this city are basically the same as HC overall.

Again why are you here if you're not making bank, just leave. I would do the same.

I've said it a billion times, Dress sharp, get logistics, shoot for ONSs to survive. Then in the mean time you should be saving a GRIP of cash. Having a good job in SF means you don't have to work for 30 years by the time you're 30.

Just my original post.

Any transportation issues = you shouldn't be broke so its a non-issue
Any logistics issues = you shouldn't be broke so its a non-issue

Girls are lower quality yes.
More homeless people yes, just don't go thru the loin.

That's pretty much it, basically yes the cost is ridiculous so if you don't make a lot of money don't bother coming to SF. You'll lose. Similarly don't come here for any other reason than making $$.

This is pretty much the capital of feminism so what do you expect, surely wouldnt recommend it as a US travel destination. Again if you're coming here its for money that's it.
