RE: Sportswriter Quits Because NBA Players Aren't Saints
I appreciate the kind words. Basketball is the game I played more than other sports, so it's the game I've always followed more closely. I learned the game fundamentally, because though I was a decent player, I was never the best. Most of what's written or discussed on air about the game is a joke - I tend to give more credence to what former coaches and players say than what talking heads or writers that never played at any level say or write. I really laugh when someone that never played is actually attempting to debate a coach or player about ball on the air. Even some of the former players on the air fall into talking nonsense, rather than solid analysis.

And much of what is written and discussed is just filled with jealousy and resentment. A lot of these guys are lifelong jock-sniffers. They wanted to be around the sport and the athletes that played, but couldn't actually play. Once they get the power to screw with these guys, they get drunk with it. Some of them start off in the profession doing really solid work, but once they become personalities themselves, and start believing all of their own hype, they go rapidly downhill.
