@RioNomad- Regarding Bristol Palin: 2/10 would not bang, 8/10 would not impreganate her again, and 10/10 will never marry.

Yeah, saw that.
I'm beginning to see that what upsets our enemies the most (feminists, squares, white knights, ultraconservatives, etc) is the idea that men should be thinking about their own well-being. In other words, they hate it when we try to take care of ourselves and our needs first. That isn't permitted, in their universe.
In their universe, we exist solely to be the hewers of wood, the drawers of water, and the pickers of cotton for our feminist-mangina-Cathedral overlords. Any attempt to think about ourselves produces paroxysms of hysteria in them.
Hence, Christian McQueen got furiously attacked for even suggesting that men should evaluate women based on male criteria of what is keeper-qualities.
Bacon got attacked for proposing a realistic view of why an abortion is a good thing. He draws savage anger because he questions one of the fundamental tenets of modern society: the wants and needs of young men shouldn't matter, ever, for any reason.

We will continue to upset their world. They created this mess. They created us. Now let them deal with it.

Oh, one other thing. There was a decent comment posted in the comments section of that National Review article, by someone named "Griffon". Here it is:

"I'm sorry to say this, but "bro choice" might be the best thing to ever happen to the pro life cause.

For one thing, the double standard *is* real: men who do not want to become fathers are forced to become fathers, and since women are "entitled to choice" it *is* an injustice, and that creates backlash.

For another thing, it shatters the myth that abortion is about what's best for women. Abortion is not about what's best for women. Abortion is about a particular narrative - a narrative about what women "must be" in order to have worth, as well as a narrative about what sex "must be" if you want to belong to the in-crowd. The "bro choice" anger says, "if you're allowed to be callous and selfish, how come I'm not?" - which raises the question of just how it can be moral to be callous and selfish in the first place (if it's not selfish, then how come it's selfish when guys feel the same way?).

Finally, I would argue that these men are doing girls a favor: the entire dialog is bound to raise awareness of the realities that girls ought to be aware of - but aren't being taught in their partisan sex ed classes. Their mothers are right: you really do need to be cautious, sex really is a high-risk activity. The people who told you your mothers were crazy evil shrews are directly contradicted by the "bro choice" reality."

Quote:The problem with conservatives is they view things from a black/white good/evil perspective and therefore have no intellectual means to suss out nuance and examine WHY things are the way they are. To them, you're either on their "team" or the enemy. It's as if they just know "God" and "The Devil" and nothing in between. Plus, their focus on the bible leads them into believing unrealistic things about women's behavior.

Traditional conservatives are still living in a fantasy world like the last 50 years never happened. They forget relationships between men and women at least in the US have changed forever. Their whole use of the "man up" narritive in the comments section seems to think that they can shame men into "doing the right thing" if he impregnants the chick. What they dont get is that our culture almost never tries to shame women into "correct behavior." Look at how no one dares speak publicly against single mothers even relgious types. Guys on this site know the universal truth that men are far less influenced by what society/culture/people think about them than women as a gender. If society does not hold women to certain behavior standards only men without the ability to think critically are not going to see the hypocrisy of the "man up" statement. Other than trying to shame men who might agree with the article or abortion by telling them to "man up" they basically bring in all their relgious rhetoric and outright call people who think this way evil. In the several articles written in backlash to my piece they never for a second try to see the position men are faced with other than this comment, "For one thing, the double standard *is* real: men who do not want to become fathers are forced to become fathers, and since women are "entitled to choice" it *is* an injustice, and that creates backlash." In my opinion other than having to sign up for selected service the issue of men not having a say one way or the other on the abortion issue is a glaring double standard that is never addressed in society at large. The idea this article could get such backlash for simply putting men in a position to know what to say to help convince a girl get an abortion is evidence of just how to little society wants men to think and act for themselves. Or as Quintus Curtius laid out, "the idea that men should be thinking about their own well-being. In other words, they hate it when we try to take care of ourselves and our needs first. That isn't permitted, in their universe."

The video below has been posted before on this site but it ties together the issue of men and how little control we have over our reproductive rights and freedoms.
