RE: Mein Kampf
Unfortunately, I never finished Mein Kampf but there was a reason why it was a bestseller (and still is in India and other parts of the world). Hitler was a self-made man in every sense of word. He was orphaned when he was teenager and became a fucking mover and shaker of the ENTIRE WORLD. He was jailed and when most people would've quit, he pushed harder. Regardless how many lives he has ruined, you gotta respect his perseverance.

Learn the good from Hitler and toss away the bad.

"Released from all the old, paralyzing ideas of profession and position, environment and tradition, they snatch at every livelihood that offers itself, grasp at every sort of work, progressing step by step to the realization that honest labor, no matter of what sort, disgraces no one. I, too, was determined to leap into this new world, with both feet, and fight my way through."

^^Talking about German immigrants.

Maybe nominally but there was nothing of Christ's teachings in his horrible determination to murder for no reason.

I wasn't there were, I was just correcting Samseau's earlier statement that implied Germany was Protestant at the time.

You didn't correct anything - 50% of a population that hates Jews is plenty of hate to harness

You're saying Catholic's didn't hate Jews too?

P.S I did 'correct' it in the sense that the way you phrased your statement alluded to you stating all Germany was protestant. Perhaps not correcting, but adding at least.

RE: Mein Kampf
Mein Kampf has always been one of the books I'd wanted to read ever since I was in high school. But never got around to it. I'll get to it now. It'd be interesting to get inside the mind of one of the most evil "genius" the world has ever seen.

Durangotang,
great video you've linked to! I've bookmarked it and will listen to it later
While briefly going over that speech, found this very telling video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6QgkMOPYSdo

What are your thoughts on that video above and the speech that Durangotang linked to? Specially curious to hear the thoughts of the Jews in here.

Cheers.

The reaction of a Frenchman as the Nazis roll into Paris. An amazing photograph:

This photograph shows the German parliament in 1939. Ten years before it was taken - the Nazis had only won 2.8% of the vote. It is such a spooky and intense image. Like something from a weird Sci Fi movie.

The photograph was taken just before the following speech - in which Hitler is actually quite funny:

There's something odd about the above video. I've studied a lot of Hitler, and his voice has never sounded like that.

The conservative obsession with Israel is fairly new. And probably has more to do with hating Muslims than with loving Jews.

No- the Jews and the concept of Israel have played a major role in conservative American Protestant theology since the 19th century and the founding of Israel was considered a major prophetic event.

I was brought up in the Southern Baptist Church long before 9-11 and people loved Israel then and barely knew what the fuck a Muslim was.

Sorry -but you obviously have not lived in the South and don't know anything about Fundamentalist Protestantism

I have an extended family member who is a fundamentalist Protestant in the midwest near the south. When I criticize Israel in front of her she looks at me in a deadpan stare and says "Israel is the apple of Gods eye." She means it. The Zionist grip on evangelical Protestants in America is no joke. In fact they vastly outnumber Jews in this country. It was from her that I first heard the name Hitler as a child. I still remember the way the adults looked uneasy and uncertain when she brought him up to my younger cousin, as if they didn't want her to spoil his innocence. For her it was an absolute and she didn't mind telling a young child of what a bad man Hitler was, who killed a lot of people, commit the holocaust, and that we beat him in World War II. The unshakeable absolutism was that Hitler was evil incarnate who America, the greatest nation on Earth, righteously defeated and being the greatest nation on Earth we must protect Israel, the "Apple of God's eye." Incidentally, it was also from her as a child I first heard about the country Iran and how they chant "death to America."

All of this was in the 1980's long before the so called "War on Terror." I am glad she doesn't have her finger on the button.

The Zionist grip on fundamentalist Christianity in the American south and midwest is not to be underestimated. Their numbers dwarf the number of actual Jews in America and without their votes Jews would have a more difficult time garnering military support for Israel. From this perspective alone legalizing millions of catholic Hispanic voters doesn't seem like a bad idea.

I’d rather be far right, than far wrong!

Check out these Christian yokels working as volunteer laborers on Israeli vineyards. They apparently think that by going there they will fulfill a prophecy of the end times. I'm sure the owners of the vineyards are laughing all the way to the bank as their profits increase substantially thanks to all the unpaid labor. This is basically just a microcosm of the larger relationship between Israel and Christian Zionists.

RE: Mein Kampf
Mein Kampf is interesting to read as a historical document in order to better understand 20th century history. The best sections are:

1. The parts dealing with the function and methods of propaganda. Hitler's methods have been endlessly copied by nearly all governments, and deserve close study by those wishing to understand modern government "public relations" methods. (We don't call it "propaganda" any more).
2. Sections dealing with the impact of the loss of the First World War and the early years of the formation of the National Socialist Party. Some good information here on organizing and leadership principles. Must be read with a grain of salt, as Hitler portrays himself as a lone hero in battle with the world.

For what little wheat there is here, there is much chaff. Most of the book is turgid nonsense about racial theories and geopolitics, which are mostly a mishmash of ideas he picked up as a Vienna vagabond from anti-semite pamphleteers and Viennese politicians, geographer Karl Haushofer, Nazi theorist Dietrich Eckhart, and others. The racism is really bad, of course, and makes one wonder how such a man could have been appointed chancellor of a great nation. Useful, I suppose, in giving a window into the mind of the author.

A related book that I think I'd recommend is Gustave LeBon's "The Crowd: A Study of the Popular Mind". It is fantastic book that was studied carefully by both Hitler and Mussolini. It deals with how mass psychology works, and how crowds can be influenced. Very compelling read, and should be examined by anyone interested in how to form and sustain mass movements.

Never realised Salvador Dali did a painting about Hitler. It is called 'The Engima of Hitler'.

This is another of his Hitler paintings (apparently he did three of them). The title is 'Hitler Masturbating'.
