A lot of women were in those numbers, I'd say at least 50% from a glance.

Now this one in the 2nd story is disturbing and could pertain to us:

Yah, but at this point, rehiring isn't enough - the union should push to fire the chief for caving in.

As far as getting fired, unless you have a contract or civil service protection, you can be fired for any reason not directly discriminatory - that is what an "employee at-will" is.

Imagine the following.

A bunch of gender studies women are trapped in a burning building and call 911.
They are given two options by the operator on what kind of emergency rescue they require.

A) Gender Normative Fire brigade "The Fancy Gushers". 50/50 women and men that spend special time on sensitivity training as part of their regular drills.

B) Ladder 666. Consisting of the meanest, most foul mouthed pukes available that piss barbed wire and wouldn't notice a third-degree burn unless it prevented them from benching an ox.

That's how it used to be. In those two stories I posted a lot got fired from talking shit about their employers. Back in the day when you needed to blow off steam, you met other guys at the bar and talked shit about the boss. Then got drunk and forgot about the whole thing. Point is if he got butthurt over it, it was our word against his, not something he could pull up from a backstabbing email or social media.

My last post excludes people like Roosh who's fighting for us that's why I recommended he put a tip jar here and on his blog so we can support him.

Also, I made a thread about hiding our profiles from lurkers. If a co-worker looks over your shoulder and sees your user id she or he can go through all your stuff from jumpstreet. Yeah they can sign up but most forget, fast. Twitter is a right now type of scenario, most employers that can actually fire you don't even know what exactly it is but just know a bunch of cunts are freaking out.

Just putting up on social media your political views can get you canned. They may not be able to fire you over it, but will find another reason. "at will". This still in my opinion is oppression of speech. The difference now is the powers that be see it. Back when you just went to a rally on the weekend and no big deal. It was when you brought it to work putting out flyers and stickers and shit, or tormenting employees.

Yeah. The employer is going to get sued, and they have a decent chance of losing or being forced into a very uncomfortable settlement. Ironically, they're less likely to lose because she kept the two completely distinct; you have a fundamental right to comment on your working conditions.

Quick reference:

"Fuck Save The Children!" = fired.
"Fuck Save The Children, it's a hellhole!" = protected speech.
"Fuck me!" = questionable to fire.
"Fuck me in my office at Save The Children!" = murkier grey area.
"Fuck me in my office at Save The Children; I'll still be there at 10 PM after working a 14 hour day!" = protected speech.

My thoughts on Canadian unions: probably applies to most unions elsewhere

Unions in Canada have long been supporters of our socialist National Democratic Party (NDP) although in recent years they've been known to align in some instances with the Liberal party (left leaning, kinda) they are definitely against the governing Conservative party, who've been in power since 2006.

The NDP used to be supporters of the common man, the little guy and hardworking Canadian families. They had the support of blue collar union meat heads like me, until recently, they've targeted the following demographics:

-Their base of older hippies and old school socialists
-Third world immigrants who'd rather collect government benefits than contribute to the Canadian economy, this doesn't include Filipinos, East Indians, Chinese (our #1,2 and 3 immigrants groups) who used to support the Liberals but who've since switched to the Conservatives in large numbers.
-The homosexual LGBT community
-Native rent seekers
-Environmental wackos, many who want to shut down the oil sands, Canada's golden goose, the single largest employer of blue collar Canadians (and Natives) in the country.
-You can also add any other random parasites and socialist shit heads (including my dad, old school union dude) to that list.

Typical politicans, the NDP will support whoever will elect them but they abandoned their old base, now many hard working family men and union guys like me support the conservatives, who are pro-business and somewhat anti-union, another example of of the shitty state of affairs for the Canadian man.

Most blue collar guys don't want to support a party which wants to raise taxes, limit or out right shut down oil sands production (and throw them out of work), promote homosexuality to six year old children in public schools and allow massive immigration from third world shit holes, among other topics.

Good luck to these fire fighters, they have quite the fight ahead of them!

I'm well aware that the constitution protects individuals from the government restricting speech. The first amendment has no say over what your employer can fire you over. This is not a constitutional issue.

There are already laws however that restrict what you can fire an employee over. You can't fire a person for race, religion, gender, etc. What I propose is we also add personal beliefs and the expression thereof.

Right now, I can call myself Muslim and go on social media sites and say all non-Muslims are going to hell and are wicked, and my employer can't fire me for that. But I if I go on the same social media sites and say feminists are destroying society, my employer can fire me if they want.

I guess what I'm saying is I want the same protection for my personal/political beliefs as people get for their religious beliefs.

In small part I think we're giving a label to normal female behaviour. When in competition with a woman whose pride or pack you're not a part of expect at some point that one will eye to take self-esteem/pride/reputation, grades, resources, money, or livelihood away from you with little conscience or remorse. Twitter is just another underhanded avenue they can do it through.
